Key Initiatives in the North West District 3 Since the launch of Green Living @ North West in 2009, we have rolled out more than 80 sustainable programmes to reach out to more than 750,000 residents. The North West Community Page 1 of 6 Development Council (CDC) hopes to build a green culture in the community by encouraging residents, partners and schools to come on board our green programmes. Launch of the Wecare Arts Exhibition 2019 and Renewed Partners
19 September 2019 JOINT MEDIA RELEASE Rewind, Refresh, Regain – Launch of the WeCare Arts Exhibition 2019 and Renewed Partnership with $1 Million Injection for the WeCare Arts Fund ~About 12,000 beneficiaries benefitted from the Fund~ Ms Grace Fu, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, was the Guest of Honour at the launch of the WeCare Arts Exhibition on 19 September 2019 at Wisma Geylang Serai Event Space. The exhibition showcases the diversity of the WeCare Arts Fund projects, a scheme by the National Arts Council (NAC) and Community Development Councils (CDCs) in Singapore that supports collaborations between artists and Social Service Agencies (SSAs). Through the Fund, artists and SSAs organise arts-based projects to engage beneficiaries within the social service sector, while promoting lifelong learning and a more inclusive environment for underserved communities. 2 Since 2014, the WeCare Arts Fund has benefitted over 12,000 beneficiaries and continues to provide them with opportunities to make friends and enhance their sense of wellness. Building on the successful partnership between NAC and the five CDCs, the WeCare Arts Fund has been given a new injection of $1 million over the next two years. 3 “As an inclusive society, I want to see the arts being enjoyed by all segments of the society. And many artists and arts practitioners are keen to work with social service agencies to bring opportunities for art-making to persons with special needs. Indeed, the arts have the power to bring people of diverse backgrounds together. Initiatives such as the WeCare Arts Fund facilitate partnerships between people, private and public sectors to make programmes such as today’s exhibition possible.

Excerpt of Speech by Deputy Prime Minister, Teo Chee Hean, at Committee of Supply 2018 Strengthening our Institutions and Helping Our People Succeed The PMO-Strategy Group is working closely with our agencies and other central agencies such as the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service Division to adopt a systems approach to planning and coordination. This includes areas such as scenario planning, budget, manpower, population, land, security, climate change and new opportunities in the Digital and Future Economy. We have formed the Smart Nation and Digital Government Group last May to accelerate our Smart Nation efforts. Dr Fatimah Lateef and Mr Lee Yi Shyan cited demographic challenges, which stem from our low total fertility rate. Agencies have worked together to strengthen our support for marriage and parenthood in the key areas of housing, pre-school, and support in the workplace and the community. Minister Josephine Teo will give an update of our population priorities and strategies to ensure that we are well-prepared for the future later on during this Committee of Supply for PMO. Climate change is also a whole-of-nation issue where all countries need to take action now to safeguard our collective future. Together with other countries, Singapore will do our part to reduce our emissions. To do so in a cost-effective manner, the carbon tax is a decisive move. Its merits were discussed extensively during the Budget debate. The transition period and support will also help our companies and consumers make the adjustments. Minister Masagos Zulkifli will provide more details in his speech on our implementation plans in the Committee of Supply for the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources.

FACTSHEET BY PARLIAMENT OF SINGAPORE THE 39TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE ASEAN INTER-PARLIAMENTARY ASSEMBLY (AIPA) The Parliament of Singapore is hosting the 39th General Assembly (GA) of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) from 3 to 7 September 2018 at the Raffles City Convention Centre. Over 350 delegates from Member Parliaments and Observer countries (see “Background on AIPA”), will be in attendance. The ASEAN Secretariat and parliamentarians from Morocco and Norway will also be present as guests of the host. 2 The theme for the 39th AIPA GA is “Towards a Resilient and Innovative Community”, which mirrors the theme of Singapore’s Chairmanship of ASEAN – “Resilient and Innovative”. This symbiosis with ASEAN reflects AIPA’s common concerns and vision for the people of our respective countries and our desire to align ourselves closely to the longer-term common goals of ASEAN. 3 As the AIPA President this year, Mr Tan Chuan-Jin, Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore, will be presiding over the 39th AIPA GA, including the plenary sessions. The recognition of Honorary Fellowship is awarded by the Society to prominent members of the construction industry who have distinguished themselves as industry leaders in Project Management. This is only the 7th time the Society has presented this award in our 24 SPM Honorary Fellowship conferred to Dr Teo Ho Pin Thomson East Coast Line T307 years. (Marine Parade) – Page 4 Dr Teo has had a long and illustrious experience in the Building industry. He was awarded the Tan Lark Sye scholarship in 1982 to pursue the Bachelor of Science (Building) from the National University of Singapore, after which he received the university's Overseas Graduate Scholarship to pursue his Master of Science in Project Management, and PhD in Building at Heriot Watt University (UK). In 1991, Dr Teo was seconded to be the Chief Executive Officer of Jurong Town Council where he was responsible for the management of over 40,000 units of public housing flats. He was Chairman of the MCST Committee Strata Title 533 from 1994 to 1996, and President of the Singapore Design for Safety (DfS) – Page 8 Institute of Building from 1996 to 2002. In 1997, Dr Teo was elected as Member of Parliament for Sembawang GRC and subsequently chaired various Government Parliamentary Committees for National Development, Environment and Water Resources, Home Affairs, Law and Foreign Affairs.
