Big 12 Conference Schools Raise Nine-Year NFL Draft Totals to 277 Alumni Through 2003 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Apr. 26, 2003 DALLAS—Big 12 Conference teams had 10 of the first 62 selections in the 35th annual NFL “common” draft (67th overall) Saturday and added a total of 13 for the opening day. The first-day tallies in the 2003 NFL draft brought the number Big 12 standouts taken from 1995-03 to 277. Over 90 Big 12 alumni signed free agent contracts after the 2000-02 drafts, and three of the first 13 standouts (six total in the first round) in the 2003 draft were Kansas State CB Terence Newman (fifth draftee), Oklahoma State DE Kevin Williams (ninth) Texas A&M DT Ty Warren (13th). Last year three Big 12 standouts were selected in the top eight choices (four of the initial 21), and the 2000 draft included three alumni from this conference in the first 20. Colorado, Nebraska and Florida State paced all schools nationally in the 1995-97 era with 21 NFL draft choices apiece. Eleven Big 12 schools also had at least one youngster chosen in the eight-round draft during 1998. Over the last six (1998-03) NFL postings, there were 73 Big 12 Conference selections among the Top 100. There were 217 Big 12 schools’ grid representatives on 2002 NFL opening day rosters from all 12 members after 297 standouts from league members in ’02 entered NFL training camps—both all-time highs for the league. Application for Best Event/Program within an Event to Benefit a Cause Herky on Parade Live Auction 2015 IFEA Pinnacle Awards Application for Best Event/Program within an Event to Benefit a Cause Herky on Parade Live Auction IFEA Pinnacle Awards 1. Overview Information A. Introduction/Background of Main Event Herky on Parade was the largest public art project ever produced in the Iowa City, Iowa area. The beloved University of Iowa mascot, Herky the Hawk, was fabricated into statue form and took on 84 different designs and went on display all over the university campus and three surrounding communities from May through August 2014. The 2014 project celebrated 10 years since the original Herky on Parade took place in the area. Those who were residents in 2004 were familiar with the project and excited to bring it back, though it didn’t take long for those who didn’t live in town the first time to also get excited. The anniversary Parade brought together over 50 local and regional artists, over 60 local sponsors, three municipalities, and a Big 10 university. It became an engine that united residents, visitors, business professionals, and students, building a shared bridge in which all could take part. The Iowa City/Coralville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) was the primary organizer for the program and led the executive committee. B. Description & Purpose/Objective of Program The Herky on Parade Live Auction was the final event of the project and the most important aspect in terms of fundraising. From the beginning, the intention was to auction the statues at the end of the summer in order to benefit a local non-profit organization.

Mallory Men Bullet Points To: Loyal Mallory Men From: Andy Curtin RE: Letters of Recommendation for Bill Mallory’s Candidacy for College Football Hall of Fame My name is Andy Curtin. I created and ran the Legends Poll for 10 years from 2005 through 2014. We had 23 retired coaches participate over those years. Of this group 21 are in the HOF. Bill Mallory was a charter member and served all 10 years as a voter in the Legends Poll. The roster of Legends Poll coaches is stunning in its composition. Bobby Bowden, Tom Osborne, Frank Broyles, John Cooper, Fisher DeBerry, Bo Schembechler, Terry Donahue, Vince Dooley, Pat Dye, LaVell Edwards, Don James, Hayden Fry, John Ralston, Dick MacPherson, Don Nehlen, John Robinson, Bill Snyder, R.C. Slocum, Gene Stallings, George Welsh, Frank Kush, Bobby Ross…and Bill Mallory. Bobby Ross and Bill are the two non-HOF coaches. Everyone of our Legends Poll coaches believe Bill Mallory belongs in the HOF. However, since 2010 no coach has been granted a waiver for eligibility from the 60% winning percentage minimum rule, despite the fact that there are 31 non-60% coaches in the HOF with over 200 coaches enshrined there. I have been lobbying for Bill for over 4 years now to have the National Football Foundation reinstate the waiver procedure. I believe we have our best chance now because I have created an Index called the Curtin Coach Index (CCI) which I have provided to you herewith. It awards points to coaches for playing Top 25, Top 10 and Top 5 teams and is then averaged by years of service.
