  • HASSELBLAD INTRODUCES the H6D-400C MS, a 400 MEGA PIXEL
Press information – for immediate release Gothenburg, Sweden 16 Jan 2018 HASSELBLAD INTRODUCES THE H6D-400c MS, A 400 MEGA PIXEL MULTI-SHOT CAMERA Building on a vast experience of developing exceptional, high-quality single and multi-shot cameras, Hasselblad once again has raised the bar for image quality captured with medium format system. Multi-Shot capture has become an industry standard in the field of art reproduction and cultural heritage for the documentation of paintings, sculptures, and artwork. As the only professional medium format system to feature multi-shot technology, Hasselblad continues to be the leading choice for institutions, organizations, and museums worldwide to record historic treasures in the highest image quality possible. With over 10 years of digital imaging expertise, the latest Multi-Shot digital camera combines the H6D’s unrivalled ease of use with a completely new frontier of image quality and detail. This new camera encompasses all of the technological functions of Hasselblad’s H6D single shot camera, and adds to that the resolution and colour fidelity advancements that only Multi-Shot photography can bring to image capture. With an effective resolution of 400MP via 6 shot image capture, or 100MP resolution in either 4 shot Multi-Shot capture or single shot mode, the Multi-Shot capture requires the sensor and its mount to be moved at a high-precision of 1 or ½ a pixel at a time via a piezo unit. To capture Multi-Shot images the camera must be tethered to a PC or MAC. In 400MP Multi-Shot mode, 6 images are captured, the first 4 involve moving the sensor by one pixel at a time to achieve real colour data (GRGB- see 4 shot diagrams below), this cycle then returns the sensor to its starting point.

As media moves full steam ahead into the digital revolution and beyond, it is a natural instinct to look back at where we?ve come from. With more artists rediscovering photography?s historical processes, the practice of photography continually redefines and re-contextualizes itself. The creative possibilities of these historical processes are endless, spawning a growing arena of practice - alternative processes, which combines past, present and everything in between, in the creation of art. This collection is an introduction to and a sample of these processes and possibilities. With Alternative Photographic Processes, Brady Wilks demonstrates techniques for manipulating photographs, negatives and prints ? emphasizing the ?hand-made? touch. Bridging the gap between the simplest of processes to the most complex, Wilks? introduction demonstrates image-manipulation pre-capture, allowing the artist to get intimate with his or her images long before development. In the newly-released Gum Printing, leading gum expert Christina Z.

  • Cut Film Holders for 4X5
Cut film holders for 4x5 Compiled by Q.-Tuan Luong for largeformatphotography.info. Updated July 2004. Contents: • Formats • Classical double holders • Grafmatics • Preloaded systems - Quickloads and Readyloads • Effect of different holders on sharpness • More information Formats In Europe, the formats 4x5 inches and 9x12 cm coexist and you can get both sizes (but metric is easier to find). The size of the film is different, therefore the holders are too, however, the exterior dimensions of the holders are the same so you don't have to modify the camera. The same applies of 5x7 inches vs 13cm x18cm, although both are difficult to find. In the United States, metric size sheet film is very difficult to get. Classical double holders Riteway vs Lisco/Fidelity Older Riteway Cut Film Holders (the ones with the metal handles on the darkslides) are more highly regarded than say older Lisco. The Riteway holders seem to hold up better. When I worked in a studio about 15 years ago, my boss had over 100 holders all of which he had bought used. Probably all but about 5 were this style Riteway and none of them leaked light. Of the Lisco holders he bought, the failure rate (of used holders) was high enough that he quickly stopped getting them (maybe 50% of the ones he got leaked). The current Riteway holders are made by the same company as current Lisco and Fidelity holders (these three companies merged probably 20 years ago). The Lisco and Fidelity holders are identical except for the name and slight differeneces in the pattern embossed in the plastic.
