Previous meetings • The teams are meeting for the first time in what is Nice's maiden encounter with Russian opponents. • Krasnodar's only experience of French opposition came in the 2014/15 UEFA Europa League group stage, where they drew 1-1 home and away against LOSC Lille. Form guide • Krasnodar are unbeaten in five European matches this season (W4 D1) during which they have conceded just once. • The Russian outfit progressed to the last 32 in 2015/16 after missing out in their maiden UEFA Europa League group stage foray the year before. • Nice have technically yet to win in 13 UEFA club competition away games (D4 L9). Their only European victory away from their home stadium came when they beat Fenerbahçe 5-1 in a European Cup first-round replay – staged on neutral territory in Geneva – in December 1959. • This is Nice's first UEFA group stage campaign. Links and trivia • The journey from Nice to Krasnodar is around 2,500km. • Prior to this term, Mario Balotelli scored five goals in 11 UEFA Europa League appearances, for Manchester City and Liverpool. • Krasnodar's Burkina Faso international midfielder Charles Kaboré played in France for Libourne-Saint-Seurin and Marseille at the start of his career. The coaches • Igor Shalimov stepped in to take temporary command of Krasnodar on 13 September following the resignation of Oleg Kononov. The former USSR, CIS and Russia midfielder, who helped Internazionale win the 1994 UEFA Cup, had been on Kononov's staff, working with the club's strikers. • Lucien Favre was appointed as Nice boss this summer. Twice a title winner with Zürich in his native Switzerland, he made a positive impression in Germany with Hertha Berlin and Mönchengladbach. He was capped 24 times as a midfielder. 3 FC Krasnodar - OGC Nice Thursday 29 September 2016 - 19.00CET (20.00 local time) Match press kit Kuban, Krasnodar Team facts FC Krasnodar Formed: 2008 Nickname: Byki (The Bulls) UEFA club competition honours (runners-up in brackets) • none Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) None Ten-year European record (UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup unless indicated otherwise) 2015/16: round of 32 2014/15: group stage 2013/14: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2012/13: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2011/12: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2010/11: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2009/10: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2008/09: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2007/08: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2006/07: did not take part in UEFA club competition Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 5-0: Krasnodar v JK Sillimäe Kalev 24/07/14, UEFA Europa League second qualifying round second leg • Biggest away win 1-5: Diósgyőri VTK v Krasnodar 31/07/14, UEFA Europa League third qualifying round first leg 0-4: JK Sillimäe Kalev v Krasnodar 27/07/14, UEFA Europa League second qualifying round first leg • Heaviest home defeat 0-3: Krasnodar v AC Sparta Praha 25/02/16, UEFA Europa League round of 32 second leg • Heaviest away defeat 5-1: VfL Wolfsburg v Krasnodar 06/11/14, UEFA Europa League group stage UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup • Biggest home win 5-0: Krasnodar v JK Sillimäe Kalev (see above) • Biggest away win 1-5: Diósgyőri VTK v Krasnodar (see above) 0-4: JK Sillimäe Kalev v Krasnodar (see above) • Heaviest home defeat 0-3: Krasnodar v AC Sparta Praha (see above) • Heaviest away defeat 5-1: VfL Wolfsburg v Krasnodar (see above) OGC Nice Formed: 1904 Nickname: Les Aiglons (The Eaglets) UEFA club competition honours (runners-up in brackets) • None Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) 4 FC Krasnodar - OGC Nice Thursday 29 September 2016 - 19.00CET (20.00 local time) Match press kit Kuban, Krasnodar League title: 4 (1959) French Cup: 3 (1997) Ten-year European record (UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup unless indicated otherwise) 2015/16: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2014/15: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2013/14: play-offs 2012/13: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2011/12: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2010/11: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2009/10: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2008/09: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2007/08: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2006/07: did not take part in UEFA club competition Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 4-0: Nice v Fenerbahçe SK 24/10/1973, UEFA Cup first round second leg • Biggest away win 5-1: Nice v Fenerbahçe SK 23/12/1959, European Champion Clubs' Cup first round replay (played on neutral territory in Geneva) • Heaviest home defeat 2-3: Nice v Real Madrid CF 14/03/57, European Champion Clubs’ Cup quarter-final first leg • Heaviest away defeat 4-0: 1.
