E-mails: [email protected] & [email protected] 2 University of 08 mai 1945, Guelma, Algeria 3 Biology Department, University of Annaba, Annaba, Algeria RÉSUMÉ.— Facteurs environnementaux influençant les communautés d’Odonates de trois rivières méditerranéennes : les oueds Kebir-Est, Seybouse et Rumel, nord-est algérien.— Les Odonates sont une composante importante des peuplements des milieux lotiques et leur abondance et diversité renseignent sur l’intégrité écologique de ces hydrosystèmes. L’inventaire odonatologique de trois oueds majeurs algériens : Kebir- Est, Seybouse et Rhumel, a permis l’identification de 40 espèces. Nos résultats révèlent la présence de Calopteryx exul, endémique maghrébin, dans l’oued Seybouse et semblent confirmer l’extinction de la population type dans l’oued Rhumel où l’espèce avait été découverte au XIXe siècle. Nos résultats indiquent également l’expansion de plusieurs espèces: Coenagrion caerulescens, Orthetrum nitidinerve, Trithemis kirbyi et Urothemis edwardsii dont la population relictuelle est en danger critique d’extinction. La mesure de diverses variables physicochimiques (altitude, température, conductivité, etc.) nous a permis d’explorer une possible co-structure entre les jeux de données faunistiques et de variables environnementales. L’analyse des données indique que la richesse spécifique est, selon l’oued, variablement correlée à l’hydropériode, à la conductivité et à la température de l’eau, suggérant son utilité dans l’évaluation de l’intégrité écologique des cours d’eau méditerranéens. -

Nevertheless, some man-made water bodies have proven to be valuable for biodiversity conservation as they can harbour many species. We investigated 36 man-made water bodies to determine their suitability as habitats for Odonata. Larvae were sampled in littoral, during the summer months of 2016 and 2017. At each sampling site, ten samples were collected using a benthos hand net. A total of 21 Odonata species was recorded. Odonata assemblages mainly consisted of common widespread species. Yet, at Vlačine Reservoir, located in the Dinaric Western Balkan ecoregion, we also recorded a rare and endangered Mediterranean species, Lindenia tetraphylla (Vander Linden, 1825). Aquatic and riparian vegetation, water level fluctuations and dissolved oxygen concentration had the highest influence on Odonata, showing that man- made water bodies with a well-developed riparian zone and aquatic vegetation, and with low daily and seasonal water level fluctuations, can provide suitable habitats for diverse Odonata species. -

Common Name: Tiger spiketail SGCN – High Priority Scientific Name: Cordulegaster erronea Taxon: Dragonflies and Damselflies Federal Status: Not Listed Natural Heritage Program Rank: New York Status: Not Listed Global: G4 New York: S1 Tracked: Yes Synopsis: The distributional center of the tiger spiketail (Cordulegaster erronea) is in northeastern Kentucky in the mixed mesophytic forest ecoregion, and extends southward to Louisiana and northward to western Michigan and northern New York. New York forms the northeastern range extent and an older, pre-1926 record from Keene Valley in Essex County is the northernmost known record for this species. Southeastern New York is the stronghold for this species within the lower Hudson River watershed in Orange, Rockland, Putnam and Westchester counties and is contiguous with New Jersey populations (Barlow 1995, Bangma and Barlow 2010). These populations were not discovered until the early 1990s and some have remained extant, while additional sites were added during the New York State Dragonfly and Damselfly Survey (NYSDDS). A second occupied area in the Finger Lakes region of central New York has been known since the 1920s and was rediscovered at Excelsior Glen in Schuyler County in the late 1990s. During the NYDDS, a second Schuyler County record was reported in 2005 as well as one along a small tributary stream of Otisco Lake in southwestern Onondaga County in 2008 (White et al. 2010). The habitat in the Finger Lakes varies slightly from that in southeastern New York and lies more in accordance with habitat in Michigan (O’Brien 1998) and Ohio (Glotzhober and Riggs 1996, Glotzhober 2006)—exposed, silty streams flowing from deep wooded ravines into large lakes (White et al. -

November 2000 Summary Ophiogomphus cecilia in the Saxon section of the River Elbe, Germany (Odonata: Gomphidae) - Along the River Elbe in the Free State of Saxony about one hundred individuals (larvae, exuviae, adults) of O. cecilia were recorded at 26 localities in the year 2000. The species settles along the whole Saxon section of the River Elbe with a length of about 180 km. The species is the most frequently recorded gomphid in this section of the River Elbe. The importance of this only recently recognized, abundant occurrence of the critically endangered and in Europe widely protected species O. cecilia (according to the European Flora-Fauna-Habitat Directive) is discussed. Zusammenfassung An 26 Fundorten entlang der Elbe im Freistaat Sachsen wurden im Jahr 2000 rund einhundert Exemplare (Larven, Exuvien, Imagines) von Ophio gomphus cecilia nachgewiesen. Die Funde lassen darauf schließen, dass O. cecilia den sächsischen Elbeabschnitt durchgängig auf seiner gesamten Länge von rund 180 km besiedelt. Die Art ist in diesem Abschnitt der Elbe die am häufigsten nachgewiesene Gomphide. Die Bedeutung dieses in seiner Größe bisher unbekannten Vorkommens der gemäß der Flora-Fauna-Habitat-Richt- linie europaweit zu schützenden Art wird diskutiert. -

A new character establishing differences between T. annulata and T. kirbyi is established and permits to identify them in the field. RESUME.— Impacts des facteurs anthropiques et leur influence sur la distribution spatiale des Odonates de l’oued El Harrach (Centre-Nord de l’Algérie).— Malgré une connaissance relativement bonne de l’odonatofaune de l’Algérie et du Maghreb, de vastes régions comme le centre de l’Algérie demeurent peu explorées. Ces régions ont connu une explosion démographique et leur développement agro-industriel, au cours du siècle passé, a impacté défavorablement la plupart des écosystèmes naturels. L’oued El Harrach, un cours d’eau saisonnier qui traverse la plaine de la Mitidja, près d’Alger, est notoirement connu pour sa pollution et il représente ainsi un cas intéressant pour évaluer les impacts anthropiques sur les peuplements de macro-invertébrés dulçaquicoles.
