SDGs for Children in Indonesia Provincial snapshot: North Sulawesi Introduction 757,000 children of entire This provincial snapshot highlights priority child-related 31% Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) indicators, based population on national household surveys and other data sources. It complements the national SDG Baseline Report on Children North Sulawesi in Indonesia produced by BAPPENAS and UNICEF, to support monitoring and evidence-informed policy making. North Sulawesi (Sulawesi Utara) is a youthful province. Its 757,000 children represent 31 per cent of the total population. More than four in 10 children live in urban areas. Increased strategic investments in children are required to fast-track achievement of the SDGs for the province. GOAL 1 NO POVERTY Around 86,000 children (11.3 per cent) were living below the Multidimensional child poverty in North Sulawesi official poverty line in 2015 (Rp 9,711 per person per day). Many more families are insecure and live on incomes that are only marginally higher. ATKINS* Sulawesi (Celebes) is the largest island in the biogeographic region of Wallacea. The Gesneriaceae of the island are represented by 11 genera, some of which show a very high degree of endemism. Knowledge of the origin and affinities of the flora of this island is important for an understanding of the biogeography of the area. The Gesneriaceae promise to be excellent models for phytogeographic analysis, but before this, basic taxonomic studies must be carried out. A list of the currently known genera and species is provided, and descriptions of new taxa will be published over the coming months. Keywords. The islands of SE Asia comprise one of the most geologically complex regions in the world (Audley-Charles, 1981; Hall, 1996, 1998), at the meeting point of three major tectonic plates. Its turbulent geological history and exceptionally high levels of biological endemism make this region of prime interest to biogeographers. Wallace’s line, one of the most important biogeographic boundaries in the world, bisects the archipelago, and was originally thought to mark the meeting point of the Oriental and Australasian fauna and flora. Since Wallace first drew his line in 1863, many others have been drawn, reflecting different hypotheses based on the distribu- tion patterns of different taxa (summarized in Scrivener et al., 1943; Simpson, 1977). The difficulty of agreeing on a single line eventually resulted in the identification of a zone of transition in the centre of Malesia (Dickerson, 1928). -

Tamansiswa No. 158 Yogyakarta [email protected] Abstract This research is managed to answer three main problems: First, why was the Special Region of Surakarta obliterated? Second, is there any possibility to reconstruct and acknowledge the specialty of Surakarta? And, third, what attempts can be taken to make Surakarta acknowledged as Special Region again? This research aims at: First, understanding the background of the obliteration of Surakarta Special Region; second, studying the possibility of re-acknowledgement of the specialty of Surakarta, and third, finding out the attempts that can be conducted to acknowledge Surakarta as Special Region again. This research is a normative legal study using the regulations of law and several statutes as the primary legal material, and the literature relevant to the research object as the secondary legal material. This research uses the historical approach and statute approach. The analysis method used is qualitative descriptive. The conclusion of this research are: First, in historical perspective, the obliteration of Special District of Surakarta resulted from the social movement of the community called “gerakan anti swapraja” which demanded to revoke the special status of Surakarta. Second, the re-acknowledgement of the special status of Surakarta depends of the political will of Central Government, People Representative Council, Regional Government, Regional Legislative, and the community of Surakarta (ex Karesidenan Surakarta). Third, the attempt that can be conducted in order that Surakarta is re-acknowledged as a Special District is by the extension of the region or through the assessment of Law No. -

Preface This volume is the result of a European network of excellence called CINEFOGO (Civil society and New Forms of Governance). The network was subsidized by the European Union from 2004 to 2009 and brought together over 200 researchers from 45 institutes across Europe to work in 50 ‘work packages’ and ensure a greatly increased output in the shape of planning sessions, workshops, conferences, policy briefings, publications and so forth (see www.cinefogo.org for a comprehensive list). We, the authors of this book, started our discussions as organizers of a work package entitled ‘Between State and Citizens – The role of Third Sector Organisations in the Governance and Production of Social Services’ in the Deutsche Bahn lounge of Cologne Central railway station in the Spring of 2006. During the months that followed, we produced an initial note about civility and civicness and invited a small group of researchers to a small conference in Berlin in March 2007, which was facilitated by the Heinrich Böll Stiftung. The papers presented at this conference were revisited and fresh papers were discussed in a follow-up conference in Ljubljana in March 2008, hosted by the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Ljubljana. A selection of papers was presented at the Conference of the International Society of Third Sector Research in Barcelona in July 2008 and we subsequently began work on this book at another meeting in the Deutsche Bahn lounge in Cologne and through many e-mails. -

Davies, Co-Chair Keyboard instruments are ubiquitous in the history of European music. Despite the centrality of keyboards to everyday music making, their influence over the ways in which musicians have conceptualized music and, consequently, the music that they have created has received little attention. This dissertation explores how keyboard playing fits into revolutionary developments in music around 1600 – a period which roughly coincided with the emergence of the keyboard as the multipurpose instrument that has served musicians ever since. During the sixteenth century, keyboard playing became an increasingly common mode of experiencing polyphonic music, challenging the longstanding status of ensemble singing as the paradigmatic vehicle for the art of counterpoint – and ultimately replacing it in the eighteenth century. The competing paradigms differed radically: whereas ensemble singing comprised a group of musicians using their bodies as instruments, keyboard playing involved a lone musician operating a machine with her hands. -

Interim Report The Study on Arterial Road Network Development Plan for Sulawesi Island and Feasibility Study on Priority Arterial Road Development for South Sulawesi Province June 2007 (2) Biodiversity in Sulawesi Island Wallacea is a famous and essential biogeographical island group in eastern Indonesia which includes Sulawesi Island (which is about 178,700 km2). Sulawesi Island is the largest of these islands occupying about 53% of the island aggrupation located in the northwest part of Wallacea. Because of its tropical climate, its numerous islands, and complex geological history, Wallacea has high biodiversity, with numerous species found nowhere else in the world. Its total number of species is estimated at 11,400 and holds a high probability of undiscovered species due to the area’s isolation and inaccessibility. Even so, little empirical research has been performed on the relationship between software architecture and software quality. Based on 1,141 open source Java projects, we analyze to which extent software architecture metrics has an effect on software product metrics and conclude that there are a number of significant relationships. In particular, the number of open defects depend significantly on all our architecture measures. Furthermore, we introduce and analyze a new architecture metric that measures the density of the package dependency graph. Future research is needed to make predictions on a per-project basis, but the effects found may be relied on to draw conclusions about expected software quality given a set of projects. Source: Daud Tanudirjo. The grandeur of Borobudur has fascinated almost every visitor who views it. Situated in the heart of the island of Java in Indonesia, this remarkable stone structure is considered to be the most significant Buddhist monument in the Southern Hemisphere (Figure 1). In 1991, Borobudur 66 Transcending the Culture–Nature Divide in Cultural Heritage was inscribed on the World Heritage List, together with two other smaller stone temples, Pawon and Mendut. These three stone temples are located over a straight line of about three kilometres on an east-west orientation, and are regarded as belonging to a single temple complex (Figure 2). Known as the Borobudur Temple Compound, this World Heritage Site meets at least three criteria of the Operational Guidelines for the Implementation of the World Heritage Convention: (i) to represent a masterpiece of human creative genius, (ii) to exhibit an important interchange of human values over a span of time or within cultural area of the world, on developments in architecture or technology, monumental arts, town planning or landscape design, and (iii) to be directly or tangibly associated with events or living traditions, with ideas, or with beliefs, with artistic and literacy works of outstanding universal value (see also Matsuura 2005). -

The aim of the study was to know the genetic characteristic and polymorphysm of Indonesian local ducks including Magelang, Tegal, Mojosari, Bali and Alabio duck based on Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) analysis in D-loop region mtDNA. The long term aim was to set the spesific genetic marker based on SNP D-loop region mtDNA which could differentiate local ducks in Indonesia. In the future, it could be used as selection tool for local duck conservation, and refinement strategy as well as the improvement of genetic quality by utilizing the available native duck germplasm. There were 20 ducks for each duck population and were taken 3 ml of its blood as sample. DNA Isolation Kit high pure PCR template preparation (Geneaid) was uded for Genome DNA isolation. Amplification with PCR technique used primer DL-AnasPF (L56) as forward and DL-AnasPR (H773) as reverse. Next, PCR product or amplicon were sequenced. Sequence result were analyzed with SNP technique and observed the similarity and difference of its nucleotide sequence between individual and population. The result of the study showed that genome DNA from local duck in Indonesia was successfully isolated. DNA fragment of 718 bp was amplified with primer pair of DL-AnasPF and DL-AnasPR. -
