International Boundary - -- -- / Development Zone Limit I___ Paved Road ZONE 4lt 0 20 40 50 Kilometers iv PREFACE Because of special AID funding and administrative constraints and the particular evolution of foreign donor interest in this project (explained more fully in Section I.B.),the Project Paper format utilized herein, although containing documentation for all of USAID's standard requirements, has been modified somewhat. Specifically, the interested reader will find all USAID internal documentation (facesheeti, action memorandum; project authorization; section on conditions, covenants, and negotiating status; PID authorization cable; statutory checklists; GOGB request for assistance; 611(a) certification) relegated to Annex C'of this report. The reasoning for this is simple: (a) This Project Paper, at the request of the other donors, is the sole reference document to be used for project approval and implementation by SIDA, SUCO and t~he GOS and GOGB, as well as AID. (b) The AID financial contribution to the overall project is small (9%).. (c) The Project Paper will be translated both in ;ortuguese and French and Annex G can therefore be simply removed prior to translation. Also, because the fiscal years of the various donors exhibit considerable variation (U.S. fiscal year begins October 1, SEwedish fiscal year begins July 1, GOGB fiscal year begins January 1) we have utilized calendar years throughout and have made special note only when one country's fiscal year required special attention. Marcos históricos da Igreja na Guiné-Bissau : A criação da Diocese de Bafatá, em 13-03-2001 (pela bula “Cum ad fovendam”), culminou um longo esforço de evangelização, que vem já pelo menos desde o séc. XVI. As etapas mais significativas dessa evangelização foram as seguintes: 1533 - Criação da Diocese de Cabo Verde, onde a "terra firme de Guiné” estava também incluída. 1867 - Criação do Vicariato Geral da Guiné, dependente da Diocese de Cabo Verde, mas já com certa autonomia. 1940 - Criação da Missão “sui iuris” da Guiné: independente da Diocese de Cabo Verde. 1955 - Criação da Prefeitura Apostólica da Guiné. 1977 - Criação da Diocese de Bissau, em 21-03-1977, tendo como primeiro Bispo o Franciscano italiano, Dom Settimio Arturo Ferrazzetta. 2000 - Ordenação episcopal do primeiro Bispo guineense, Dom José Câmnate na Bissign, em 12-02-2000. 2001 - Criação da Diocese de Bafatá, em 13-03-2001, tendo como primeiro Bispo o sacerdote brasileiro do PIME, D. Pedro Carlos Zilli. 2001 – Inauguração do Seminário Maior de Bissau, em 13 de Outubro. 2. A evangelização até à Independência da Guiné-Bissau (1533-1974): Embora desde 1533 esteja criada a Diocese de Cabo Verde, que incluía também a "terra firme de Guiné”(apelidada também de "rios de Guiné”), deverá dizer-se no entanto que é sobretudo a partir de 1660 (fixação dos Franciscanos portugueses em Cacheu, e posteriormente em Bissau) que a evangelização da Guiné se começa a processar com carácter de suficiente regularidade.

To do this, we will study variations in the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI). In order to perform the calculations and subsequent analysis, images of the park from the years 2010 and 2017, corresponding to the same period of the year, so that the phenological stage is the same, were used. To perform a more reliable analysis, the park was divided into five different areas based upon the vegetation type or main use of the land in each of them; i.e.: mangals, palm forest, paddies, savannahs and others. Using a statistical sample, the NDVIs were calculated for each of these areas. The study made it possible to conclude that the changes in land cover observed represent a decrease in mangrove swamps, which are probably being replaced by other land uses, despite the fact that these forests constitute the most important ecological area of all those that make up the park.

It has been affected by three periods of conflict, including the Liberation War (1963–1974), the Civil War (1998-1999) and the Casamance Conflict (March 2006) in the north which remains unresolved. These periods of fighting have left the largely rural and agricultural country of Guinea Bissau affected by mines and explosive remnants of war (ERW). ERW and mine contamination is contextualised by relatively very high rates of absolute poverty, rural marginalisation, low rates of rural and urban health and education services, and employment, and stalled or reversed socio-economic development. Weapons contamination and persistent, encompassing poverty are, themselves, contextualised by structural insecurity – frequently associated with criminality and armed violence – resulting from continuously contested government and weak and failing systems of governance. The Elaeis guineensis Jacq parklands or palm groves occupy an important place in the livelihoods of the local population of Guinea Bissau especially in the region of Cacheu where important natural formations were found. However, despite the socio-economic importance of these parklands, their dynamics in the region have been poorly studied.

Contributing to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2 and 17, WFP strengthened national capacities to implement the SDGs and reached 216,058 vulnerable girls, boys, women and men in 2020 through its CSP’s five strategic outcomes. This exceeded the planned target (214,631) and the number of people reached in 2019 (183,823) [1]. With support from the United Nations Multi-Partner Trust Fund and the Government of Italy, an emergency programme to help mitigate the negative socioeconomic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic was launched by WFP, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the Ministry of Women, Family and Social Solidarity.
