The Cottage Expansion project has been a success with all 27 units pre-sold by the start of 2015, and has brought more excitement to the community as plans progressed and site work began. The shovels went into the ground in March and in December the walls of the first cottage were raised! We installed a camera at a strategic vantage point so that future residents could watch the transformation of the site as it was being prepared for the 27 new homes.

Deerfield also celebrated its 60th Anniversary in 2015, and with the collaborated effort of all the departments a wonderful celebration took place on October 11th spanning the Community Center to the Riverwalk Café – another success. Deerfield is an exceptional place, and it is my FAITH HOPE LOVE ourCOMMUNITY Deerfield proudly celebrated the 60th anniversary of our founding in 2015. The Rt. Rev. George Henry, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina from 1948- 1974, envisioned the creation of a caring community for seniors. His dream was realized in 1955 through a generous gift by Charles and Marjorie Timson, and the community was initially established in the Timsons’ eleven-room summer residence on 30 acres of farmland. Over a half-century later, Deerfield has grown into a prestigious, nationally- acclaimed life care community on 125 acres with over 600 residents and 300 staff.

Beginning in April 2015, a “Deerfield Decade” was celebrated each month at the General Residents meeting with photos, memorabilia and shared memories of staff and residents. The celebration culminated with a 60th anniversary celebration party in October.
