PRESIDENT, ST. JOHN’S UNIVERSITY Conrado “Bobby” Gempesaw became the 17th President of St. John’s University on July 1, 2014. Dr. Gempesaw is an accomplished scholar, teacher and administrator who comes to St. John’s with almost three decades of academic and administrative experience. Prior to his appointment at St. John’s, he served as Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio (2011-14). As Provost, he led the development of new academic and advisement strategies to enhance retention and graduation rates, initiated a multi-term registration system and new winter term, increased international enrollment and global partnerships, established student learning outcomes assessment practices, devised a distinct e-learning market strategy, and introduced new revenue initiatives. Previously, Dr. Gempesaw served as Dean of the University of Delaware’s (UD) Lerner College of Business and Economics (2006- 11) and Vice-Provost for Academic and International Programs (1999-2006). He also served as Interim Dean of UD’s College of Arts and Sciences (2004-05) and Chair of the Department of Food and Resource Economics (1993-99). He joined UD as an assistant professor in 1985, was awarded tenure and promoted to associate professor in 1989, and promoted to full professor in
