SUMMARY Pollinators rather than resources, determined the capsule seed set of individuals of Amaryllis belladonna in a population on the Cape Peninsula, South Africa. Increased number of seeds per • capsule was however, associated with a decline in seed mass. This indicates that resources determine seed quality, but not quantity in this species. Total seed production per plant was positively correlated with inflorescence height as well as the number of flowers per inflorescence.
