A. That the City Council designate the unnumbered location situated one sidewalk square southerly of and between numbered locations 26J and 26j as shown on Sheet 18 of Plan D-13788 for the for the installation of the name of John Lasseter at 6834 Hollywood Boulevard.

DISCUSSION:

The Walk of Fame Committee of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has submitted a request for insetiion into the Hollywood Walk ofFame the name of John Lasseter. The ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, November 1, 2011.

The communicant's request is in accordance with City Council action of October 18, 1978, under Council File No. 78-3949. Following the Council's action of approval, and upon proper application and payment of the required fee, an installation permit can be secured at 201 N. Figueroa Street, 3rd Floor, Counter 23 ".

The Walk of Fame Committee of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has approved the below listed name for insertion into the Hollywood Walk of Fame:

JOHN LASSETER- (Category -MOTION PICTURES) Requested star location to be 6834 Hollywood Blvd., south side of the street next to the El Capitan Theatre. The star for JOHN LASSETER will be located in the second row next to the star of CUBA GOODING JR. which is to the east and a square which has no number which faces west. The stars nearest to LASSETER'S in the original row are GARRY MARSHALL (26j) to the east and PEE WEE HUNT (26J) to the West. According to sheet #18 plan 13788, JOHN LASSETER'S star has no designated number. The ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, November 1, at TIME IS PENDING AS THERE IS AN HAND PRINT CEREMONY SET FOR SA1\1E DAY AND WE ARE NEGOTIATING TIMES.

John Lasseter Chief Creative Officer, and Animation Studios Principal Creative Advisor,

John Lasseter is a two~time Academy Award®-winning director and creatively oversees all films and associated projects from Walt Disney and Pixat Animation Studios. Lasseter made his feature directorial debut in 1995 with ''," the fust-ever feature-length computer-animated fihn and, since then, has gone on to direct "A Bug's Life," "" and "." He returned to the driver's seat this year, directing "." His executive-producing credits include "Monsters, Inc.," "," "The lncredibles," "Ratatouille," ''WALL• E," "" and last year's critically acclaimed "Up," the first animated film ever to open the Cannes Film Festival and the recipient of two ® for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score. Lasseter also served as executive producer for Disney's Oscar® -nominated f.t.lm.s "The Princess and the Frog" and "" as well as Pixar's most recent Academy Award winner for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song, "Toy Stoty 3," which is based on a story written by Lasseter, Anclxew Stanton and . Lasseter wrote, directed and animated Pixar's first short fihns, including "Luxo Jr.," "Red's Dream," "" and "." "Luxo Jr." was the first three-dimensional computer-animated film ever to be nominated for an Academy Award® when it was nominated for Best Animated in 1986; "Tin Toy" was the first three-dimensional computer-animated fihn ever to win an Academy Award® when it was named Best Animated Short Film in 1988. Lasseter has executive-produced all of the studio's subsequent shorts, including "Boundin'," "One Man Band," "Lifted," "Presto," "," "Day & Night" and the Academy Award®-winning "Geri's Game" (1997) and "For the Birds" (2000). Under Lasseter's supervision, Pixar's animated feature and short fllms have earned a multitude of critical accolades and fllm-industry honors. He and the rest of the screenwriting team of "Toy Story" also earned an Academy Award® nomination for Best Original Screenplay, the first time an animated feature had ever been recognized in that category. The following year, he became the fust producer of animated films to receive the Producers Guild of America's David 0. Selznick Achievement Award in Motion Pictures. Prior to the formation of Pixar in 1986, Lasseter was a member of the Computer Division of Lucasfllm Ltd., where he designed and animated "The Adventures of Anclxe and Wally B," the first-ever piece of character-based three-dimensional computet animation, and the computer-generated Stained Glass Knight character in the 1985 -produced film ''." Lasseter was part of the inaugural class of the program at California Institute of the Arts and received his B.F.A. in fihn in 1979.
