The total number of boats estimated on ROGD in May – September 2011 was 7,615. This has grown in recent years from Meadows 2,585 in 2008. 2. Recent observations have been the increase of private boats and greater diversity in the type of boats. Kayaks and canoes continue to be the dominant boat types (74%). 3. The 2005 Social Carrying Capacity Study (Confluence) found that people begin to feel crowded as the number of boats per Nicklaus hour on ROGD exceeds 25 – 30. North 4. The carrying capacity was exceeded on four occasions during July and August long weekends (27 – 51 boats / hour).
