Lisbon & Cascais Golf & Food & Wine 4 nights – Lisbon & Cascais 1st day Arrival at Lisbon International Airport Transfer and check-in at Bairro Alto Hotel Bairro Alto Hotel Lisbon is a 5-star boutique hotel in central Lisbon, located in the heart of historic downtown, between two of the most emblematic city districts, the bohemian Bairro Alto and the chic, cultural and trendy Chiado. A luxury boutique hotel, both cosmopolitan and trendy with a harmonious blend of old and new, that offers an excellent service in an atmosphere of warmth and relaxation. A unique and special place in the city of Lisbon, within walking distance to major shops, theatres, museums, restaurants and bars. Dinner at Hotel restaurant It is located on the ground floor of the Bairro Alto Hotel with spacious Windows looking into Luís de Camões Square and Rua das Flores, right at the heart of the city. Plenty of options to choose from and dishes to share, in a genuine “bairro” kitchen, with a relaxed and casual yet elegant environment. Colour and a warmer lighting make the space more welcoming. Fabrics range from leather to flower and herringbone patterns, creating a very contemporary space. The window screens provide privacy without eliminating the view to the outside and suggest a more intimate space. This space will simultaneously transport you into the past and into the present. 2nd day Tram tour & Boat Cruise with lunch onboard in Tejo river (meet the city by land & sea) Take an old-style tram and rattle around some of the most interesting parts of Lisbon. See major landmarks such as the imposing Castle of São Jorge, once a Moorish royal residence, and Santa Maria Maior de Lisboa, Lisbon’s cathedral. Marvel at the many faces of this richly diverse city. Contrast the old-fashioned village atmosphere of medieval Alfama with the sophistication of upmarket Chiado. Compare the tangled maze of streets and buildings of Mouraria with the grandeur and opulence of Laba. There are not many places in Europe where you can still ride a tramcar. Going by tram is not only a wonderful way to see Lisbon, it is also a lot of fun! Cruise on the margins of the Tagus, from where you can gain a different view of the Lisbon monuments and old districts. (Tower of Belem, Padrao dos Descobrimentos Monument, 25 de Abril Bridge, Cristo Rei Statue, Jeronimos Monastery, S. Jorge Castle, Praca do Comercio, National Pantheon, Lisbon Cathedral) Lunch on board – barbecue style accompanied by all the Portuguese delicacies. Wine tasting at Solar do Vinho do Porto The Solar in Lisbon is located on the Rua de S. Pedro de Alcântara, in the Bairro Alto, right in the heart of one of the most typical neighborhoods of the city. Go to the Praça dos Restauradores, in the very center of town, take the Glória elevator up to the top and drop in on the Solar inside the beautiful Ludovic Palace. Here, in a calm and relaxed atmosphere, the visitor is offered a range of types and brands of Port Wine to taste or, in the case of the connoisseur, the Port Wine of his choice. Dinner in the City This restaurant opened in 1958 in Chiado, in the trendy São Carlos square next to the São Carlos National Theatre and the house where Fernando Pessoa was born. Its singular location at the historic center of Lisbon, its sober, sophisticated atmosphere, the discrete and attentive service, and the delights at its cuisine, soon won over Lisbon's elite who turned it into the place to be seen. In November 2012, the restaurant celebrated being awarded a Michelin Star. The restaurant team share their inspirations, emotions and concerns through their culinary representations and illusions. Each dish tells a story and sets out to stir the emotions of those willing to try it. 3rd day Round at Oitavos Dunes The focal point of Quinta da Marinha is the Championship golf course Oitavos Golf, designed by Arthur Hills. As the course became recognized internationally as a Links experience, the decision was made to change the name to Oitavos Dunes to reflect the natural sand dunes, impacts of the Ocean and Scottish like playing conditions, which all contribute to the way many view Oitavos Dunes as "Natural Links Golf." Last September 2011 Oitavos Dunes jumped 20 places up the list to be considered the 68th best course in the world and the second best in mainland Europe. The recognition is a result of 15 minor changes to the course, including new tees on holes 7 and 9, and the placement of sand dunes in strategic holes such as the 10th. Transfer and Check-in at Senhora da Guia Enjoy the elegance, discrete luxury, and cozy atmosphere of the Boutique Hotel Senhora da Guia! Each of the three buildings making up Senhora da Guia is charming in its own right. The main building in subdued, sun- kissed orange hosts our reception, lobby, restaurant, spa and several of our superior rooms. The adjoining building in a warm shade of yellow is surrounded by pine trees, with all the rooms overlooking a lush green lawn with palm trees. The third, terra cotta colored part of the hotel is built around a courtyard with a delightful little fountain. The three parts of the hotel are connected by gardens and terraces. The ambience is incredibly warm and welcoming! Dinner by the Sea Taste the exquisite and inspired cuisine of Antoine Westermann, acclaimed 3 Michelin Star Chef. The menus reflect the richness and tradition of French cuisine, with a Portuguese accent. The fantastic location of the Restaurant, with amazing front views to the Atlantic Ocean and Cabo da Roca, is always there to inspire you. The wine list is quite surely among the best offered in Portugal, covering both Portuguese and French wines, all carefully chosen by Fortaleza 's sommeliers and Chef's, taking into account what is being offered on the menus. You will find both Bordeaux’s grand crus and "vins de boutique" made by talented and emerging Portuguese wine producers. 4th day Round at Penha Longa Atlantic Course Two courses, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., offer world-class play in unforgettable surroundings. The 18-hole Atlantic Course, one of the highest rated in Europe, is famed throughout the world for the remains of a huge arched Roman aqueduct incorporated along the fairways fringes. Several holes offer dramatic views of the ocean and the ever-luminous Lisbon. The nine-hole Monastery Course, equally dramatic, owes its name to the unique hermitage built into the resort’s rockscape by devout Franciscan friars in the 14th century. The Atlantic Course is an 18-hole, par 72, championship course of 6,290 meters, offering a challenging course with breathtaking views over the ocean with Estoril and Cascais to the South and the Sintra hills to the North. Penha Longa’s Atlantic golf course has played host to numerous competitions including the Portuguese Open. Handicap limit: Men - 28; Ladies – 36 Wine tasting at the Hotel Dinner at Estoril Mandarin Restaurant in Casino Estoril The Mandarin is probably the most authentic Chinese restaurants in Portugal, cooks the true flavors of the region Kuong Tong. Unique in our country and one of the best at European level, owes much to the competent leadership of reputed Peng Kuan U, referenced by various media as well as by his peers as one of the best Chinese chefs in the world. For lunch, the preferences go to dim sum, dishes composed of steam, but for dinner has 119 options, where the Beijing roast duck is the specialty. • Nightlife in Lisbon and in Porto
Nightlife in Lisbon and in Porto ABOUT Nightlife in Lisbon and in Porto Portugal by... Condé Nast traveler When dusk stretches its mantle over the city of Seven Hills, when the litany of squealing trams gradually dies down, Lisbon prepares to show its most versatile and eclectic side. Because night-time in the Portuguese capital is full of possibilities capable of satisfying the most demanding night owls: terraces to chill out, from where it is possible to admire the magical palette of colours in the evening sky, dancing in nightclubs to the latest electronic music from Europe, meeting artists in industrial spaces in the purest style of Berlin or immersing oneself in the Portuguese culture of fado and "saudade" in traditional but modernised fado houses. All this is possible in this city that may seem melancholy during the day, but is cheerful and vibrant like few others by night. Cais do Sodré, the Bohemian night An area formerly littered with brothels and gambling houses where sailors went for a night of delight and a pair of arms in which to lose themselves after the hard months at sea, it has now been transformed into one of the most vibrant night spots in Lisbon. The epicentre of this old/former Red Light District is Rua Nova do Carvalho, a street whose provocative garish pink- painted asphalt is home to a variety of unique and unusual places where you can watch a burlesque show, drink a cocktail whose name would shock our mothers (such as "chic whore"), eat some Portuguese tapas between drinks or watch an innovative live concert.

With the invaluable help of Maria Pereira de Melo Antunes (Jaderin overseas member who lives in Portugal), Patricia Chiu (Jaderin’s administrator) and Joan Foo Mahony (the erstwhile Portugal enthusiast having been to Portugal at least 5 times) got cracking to ensure that Jaderin’s Portugal Bespoke trip will be unforgettable. And, it was! Portugal is a big country blessed with great weather; the waters of the Atlantic and the Mediterranean; fabulous Port wines; scenic countryside; historic castles; medieval cities; interesting culture and food; and a friendly people to match the warmth of the Portuguese sunshine. Our trip started in Lisbon on 15th June and ended in Porto on 22nd June, a distance of around 330 km as the crow flies. But we did this leisurely, driving first north-westwards towards Obidos and Coimbra; and then north and due west along the grand vistas of the Douro Valley to Porto. 1 LISBON JUNE 15 Saturday The Lisbon visit started with the most delicious lunch at the elegant and traditional fine dining restaurant GAMBRINUS at the pedestrians only Rossio Square.
