In deze roman schetst hij een aangrijpend portret van zijn prille kindertijd tijdens WO II waarin hij samen met zijn moeder gevangen gehouden werd in een Japans concentratiekamp in Indonesië.

Je scénarise et dessine Razor Fish depuis mes onze ans, le meilleur moment, pour moi, a été sa création. Déambuler dans un couloir immaculé jalonné de bureaux vitrés et décoré d’affiches de cinéma pour signer le contrat à sept chiffres de l’adaptation cinématographique me terrifie. Mon ventre se serre, je me réconforte en imaginant la vignette. Ses hanches balancent à droite. Ses hanches balancent à gauche. Ses longues jambes montent jusqu’au ciel. La réceptionniste s’arrête devant une porte et l’ouvre. – Nous y sommes. Les bureaux du studio sont sophistiqués à outrance. L’immeuble entier ressemble à un château à l’architecture moderne, avec ses murs recouverts d’aluminium brossé et de marbre, ses portes vitrées, ses meubles de marbre ou de cuir noir.
