In 2011, Tom decided after what ended up being his final Concert Tour, that he would record another 10 album set with a lot of old songs that he sang when he first started out performing in the 50's and 60's.This was back when he could sing, from memory, over 2500 songs in his repertoire and long before he wrote many of his own hits we all know today. These are some of his favorites from many, many years ago. The majority of the Tracks are a rare Stompin' Tom with just him pickin' his 100+ year old Gibson guitar. As a bonus, also included, are a few tracks, hand‐picked by his wife Lena that were some of Tom’s Favorite Original Self‐Penned Recordings! Now that Tom has passed, we must remember some of the special accolades this one of a kind man, has enjoyed due to his unwavering pride for this great country. In 1989 Tom ended his self‐ imposed exile of the Music Business that started in 1978, began touring again and signed with EMI Music Canada, which led to the re‐release of his entire catalogue. Since then Tom received the Order of Canada, 3 Honorary Doctorates, just about every Lifetime Achievement Award from the major Industry Associations including SOCAN and The Musicians Union, his own Canadian postage stamp in 2009, The Governor Generals Performing Arts Award and The Queens Golden & Diamond Jubilee Medals! In 2011 during a concert he auctioned off one of his famous "Stompin' Boards" for Charity and with a winning bid of $15,000, it’ known today as the most valuable piece of plywood on the planet! Until his passing, Tom had penned 24 albums of original material, published several children's books, a 2 volume top Best Selling autobiography, the Feature film "Across This Land", the CBC television series "Stompin' Tom's Canada", all while creating countless memories for the Millions of Canadians that he has touched with his 100's of songs about Canada. Some of which can be enjoyed this summer as the remounting of the Theatre Production "The Ballad of Stompin' Tom" will be staged in Summerside, PEI, and now that he is gone, the achievements continue as 2014 continues a record setting 25th year as an Artist signed to a Major Music Recording Contract in Canada.
