In 2011, Tom decided after what ended up being his final Concert Tour, that he would record another 10 album set with a lot of old songs that he sang when he first started out performing in the 50's and 60's.This was back when he could sing, from memory, over 2500 songs in his repertoire and long before he wrote many of his own hits we all know today. These are some of his favorites from many, many years ago. The majority of the Tracks are a rare Stompin' Tom with just him pickin' his 100+ year old Gibson guitar. As a bonus, also included, are a few tracks, hand‐picked by his wife Lena that were some of Tom’s Favorite Original Self‐Penned Recordings!

Now that Tom has passed, we must remember some of the special accolades this one of a kind man, has enjoyed due to his unwavering pride for this great country. In 1989 Tom ended his self‐ imposed exile of the Music Business that started in 1978, began touring again and signed with EMI Music Canada, which led to the re‐release of his entire catalogue. Since then Tom received the Order of Canada, 3 Honorary Doctorates, just about every Lifetime Achievement Award from the major Industry Associations including SOCAN and The Musicians Union, his own Canadian postage stamp in 2009, The Governor Generals Performing Arts Award and The Queens Golden & Diamond Jubilee Medals! In 2011 during a concert he auctioned off one of his famous "Stompin' Boards" for Charity and with a winning bid of $15,000, it’ known today as the most valuable piece of plywood on the planet!

Until his passing, Tom had penned 24 albums of original material, published several children's books, a 2 volume top Best Selling autobiography, the Feature film "Across This Land", the CBC television series "Stompin' Tom's Canada", all while creating countless memories for the Millions of Canadians that he has touched with his 100's of songs about Canada. Some of which can be enjoyed this summer as the remounting of the Theatre Production "The Ballad of Stompin' Tom" will be staged in Summerside, PEI, and now that he is gone, the achievements continue as 2014 continues a record setting 25th year as an Artist signed to a Major Music Recording Contract in Canada. So, as Tom would say, "This song ain't over yet"!, as we now release the "1st" Volume of what will be known as the Final Albums of Stompin' Tom Connors.

The single will be accompanied by a video directed by Vaughan Arnell, one of Britain’s foremost and most innovative music video directors, whose credits include George’s iconic video for ‘Outside’ in 1998, plus videos for Robbie Williams, The Spice Girls and One Direction amongst others.

‘Let Her Down Easy’ was written and originally performed by Terence Trent D’Arby. George’s dramatic version was a highlight of his critically acclaimed Symphonica tour of 2011/12 where George performed carefully selected songs from a remarkable career which has spanned over 30 years, as well as covering some of his favourite artists. The Symphonica tour made history in September 2012 when George became the first contemporary pop artist to play Paris’s Palais Garnier Opera House. A TV special documenting this historic performance will be aired worldwide to accompany the release of the ‘Symphonica’ album.

The album 'Symphonica' is produced by George Michael and Phil Ramone, who worked with some of the great artists including Bob Dylan, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Billy Joel, Paul McCartney. Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand and Karen Carpenter. The legendary Ramone died in March 2013 and ‘Symphonica’ is his final work.

Key Points: The first few songs were born in LA; the next couple were honed on tour throughout 2010 and from various gypsy living encounters and escapades. Know more (inspired by a visit to Ukraine and some books I was reading) began as an idea in a town I was passing through in the Transylvanian mountains and was finished during a month long stint in Paris (in a matchbox sized apartment).Sign of Life began on the desert plain at Burning Man and was finished while cat‐sitting for a friend in London town. Pale Imitation was a California song, Oblivion a true hotel road song mostly written in Berlin while I was there for a month or two in 2011. By years end of that year I was fully burned out from the constant motion of four years madness and mayhem and I headed back to Cape Town to begin demoing my new ideas in a gorgeous studio deep in the Constantia winelands vineyards called Digital Forest not far from where I spent my rather insane adolescence. My partner in crime for these songs would be one Christopher Tuck, also recently returned to South Africa from London. I resurrected two old pieces with new lyrics and sounds: Malice in the Garden and Shiver, which I had always wanted to bring to the world and everything else tumbled out suitably inspired. Studio time was exhilarating and exhausting as I undertook to make this recording a 9 month non‐stop intense working party. The ABBA Deluxe Edition series, which began in 2006 with the release of the Arrival album, now reaches its eighth album. And what would be more natural in this 40th Anniversary year, celebrating ABBA’s victory in Eurovision Song Contest with ‘Waterloo’, than to release a Deluxe Edition of the album of the same name. On this Waterloo Deluxe Edition the original album has been expanded with 8 bonus tracks, plus a DVD of rare and previously unreleased television material.

The first disc in the 2‐disc package is a CD, which features the original album plus 8 bonus tracks. The bonus selections feature all the various versions of ‘Waterloo’ – the Swedish, French and German versions, as well as an alternate mix of the English version – plus the Swedish version of ‘Honey, Honey’; the remix of ‘Ring Ring’ that was first released on the American version of the Waterloo album; the single remix of ‘Ring Ring’ released as the follow‐up to ‘Waterloo’ in the UK; and the Spanish version of ‘Hasta Mañana’.

The DVD features no less than 13 TV selections, most of which are previously unreleased. Naturally, ABBA’s performances of ‘Waterloo’ in the Eurovision Song Contest and the Swedish selection, Melodifestivalen are featured on the DVD. In both instances, the first performance as well as the winner performance has been included. There is also the rare performance of ‘Waterloo’ intended for Eurovision preview program’s; the equally rare performance of the German‐language version of ‘Waterloo’; ABBA’s three appearances on Top Of The Pops, performing ‘Waterloo’; an interview with Frida and ABBA manager Stig Anderson on Eurovision night; plus three performances of ‘Honey, Honey’ from German and Austrian television.

The package also includes a 20‐page illustrated booklet featuring an extensive essay on the making of the album, with brand new insights from Björn and Benny. Be a part of the celebrations of one of the most famous moments in ABBA history!

NO was formed in 2010 through the chance encounter of Bradley Hanan Carter and Sean Daniel Stentz at a local LA diner. Bonding over stories of disastrous relationships as well as their mutual admiration for storytelling artists like Leonard Cohen, Bill Callahan, Johnny Cash and Lou Reed, the two decided to unite and build something for themselves.

Following the 2011 release of Don’t Worry, You’ll Be Here Forever EP, NO quickly gained recognition with the local Echo Park crowds, and both NME and the LA Times tipped them as an act to keep a close eye on. 2012 saw them wrack up over 100 live shows, including supports for Best Coast and Electric Guest, and a European tour with Father John Misty. In 2013 the band returned to LA for a sold-out headline show at The Troubadour and performed at international festivals including London’s Hard Rock Calling and Germany’s Southside and Hurricane, as well as supporting the likes of The Smashing Pumpkins, Public Image LTD and The Naked and Famous.

The six-piece are now looking forward having just finished their self-produced debut album El Prado. Mixed by Billy Bush (Tegan & Sara, Foster The People, Jake Bugg) and mastered by Joe LaPorta (Beach House, Foo Fighters, Vampire Weekend), the album will be released by Arts & Crafts in North America on February 18, 2014.

Project overview: The first official single from Quantic’s freshly announced ‘Magnetica’ album is “Duvidó” featuring Portuguese resident, Angolan born vocalist Pongolove. Premiered by The Guardian, with a stunning video filmed by B+ in Colombia.

A fiery vocal delivery, with lyrics in Portuguese heavily dosed with slang from Portugal and Angola, makes this intoxicating party cut all the more unique, and showcases the style that made Pongolove a go‐to collaborator for Buraka Som Sistema (most famously, aged just 16, fronting their huge 2008 hit "Kalemba (Wegue Wegue)"). “I have long admired the player piano works of Conlon Nanarrow and Gyorgy Ligeti. Part of the appeal of that music has to do with hearing a familiar instrument being ‘played’ in an unfamiliar fashion. For me, there has always been something fascinating about the encounter of the unfamiliar with the familiar. I have long been an advocate of taking fresh approaches to existing instrumentation as much as I am an advocate of trying to develop new instruments, and being able to rethink the way in which, for example, an electric guitar can be used is very exciting. Each of the robotic devices involved in the performance of this music has its own specification which permits certain possibilities and excludes others – the robot guitar player for example can play much faster than a human ever could, but there is no amplitude control. In the same way that you do when you write music for a human performer, these attributes have to be borne in mind – and a particular range of musical possibilities corresponds to those attributes. John Mellencamp 1978‐2012 is a boxed set collection covering, for the first time, all of the legendary singer/songwriter’s principal studio albums. The collection consists of a total of 19 CDs originally released over a recording career that spans 35 years.

For the first time, combined in one package, albums Mellencamp recorded as John Cougar, John Cougar Mellencamp and John Mellencamp for Polygram, Universal, Sony and Concord-affiliated labels. The set contains a total of 223 tracks and includes such mythic album titles as American Fool, Lonesome Jubilee, Scarecrow, Cuttin’ Heads and the more recent Life, Death Love and Freedom and No Better Than This. Thirteen of the albums in the collection were RIAA®-certified as Gold, Platinum or Multiplatinum winners while ten of the albums achieved Top Ten status on Billboard’s Top 100 Album Chart.

The set includes every one of Mellencamp’s thirty Billboard Top 100 singles, from “I Need A Love” and “Jack & Diane” to “Pink Houses” and “Rain On The Scarecrow,” as well as such classics as “Paper in Fire,” “Hurt So Good,” “Crumblin’ Down,” “Jackie Brown,” “Small Town,” “Wild Night,” “R.O.C.K In The U.S.A.,” “Our Country” and, quite literally, all the rest. 1997. Klaus recorded it during April 1997 in his studio. This long

 Herbert Blomstedt , 86 years young, is now regarded as one of the last torch bearers of the great Austro‐ Germanic tradition. He has served as principal conductor of the two oldest great German orchestras, the Dresden Staatskapelle and the Leipzig Gewandhaus. He also is an expert in Nordic repertoire, being Swedish, though born in the USA. It is in the USA where on record he made the most impact with 10 still much‐talked about years as music director of the San Francisco Symphony (1985 to 1995). With this orchestra, he and Decca made some of the most spectacular orchestral recordings to date, still prized and cited as reference versions by collectors.

Key Points:

 Sir Neville Marriner celebrates his 90th birthday on 15th April 2014. Decca is taking this opportunity to honour his achievement on record with a treasure trove of Argo jewels from Marriner’s early recording days with the chamber orchestra he founded in 1958, The Academy of St Martin in the Fields.

 The 28 CD box spans the years 1964‐1981, and includes a bonus CD of the first recordings from 1961.The collection concentrates on the Argo years, when the pattern for the Academy’s success was set. Winning performances by soloists such as Alan Loveday and Iona Brown — who in 1974 became Marriner’s successor in directing from the violin – were a key part of the fabric of the Academy’s unique sound.

 Highlights in this box include the legendary recording of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, and full performances of Handel’s Messiah and Mozart’s Requiem. All housed in the “Original Jackets” format.

The set includes an anniversary re‐issue in vinyl of the famous May 1964 original first EP, cut by Pavarotti as his first recording for Decca – five arias including ‘Che gelida manina’ from La Bohème, ‘E lucevan le stelle’ from Tosca and three arias from Rigoletto. It also includes a Bonus CD of Arias featuring the newly re‐surfaced recording of ‘Che gelida manina’ from Pavarotti’s debut performance of La Bohème on April 29, 1961 at the Teatro Muncipale in Reggio Emilia, before his contract with Decca even commenced in 1963.

The collection serves to highlight the key partnerships in Pavarotti’s early recording career. The Sutherland‐ Pavarotti‐Bonynge relationship was the first to be enshrined on record in Bellini’s Beatrice di Tenda (CD 1 – 2). Their Donizetti recordings – La Fille du Régiment (CD 2 – 3) and L’elisir d’amore (CD 4 – 5) still have few rivals: “Pavarotti has a Gigli‐like quality in characterisation and this suits him ideally for the role… you should readily be won over by the sheer exuberance, vocal as well as dramatic, that Sutherland brings to the role” – Gramophone original review

Opera was not the sole musical outlet for the Pavarotti of the 1960s and 1970s. He sang in choral works, such as Verdi’s Requiem and Rossini’s Stabat Mater and as his reputation spread he became a dedicated recitalist. His Verdi and Donizetti Arias (CD 25) contain some of the most perfect, natural, unforced singing of his entire career.

Key Points:

Recorded ‘live’ at the Semperoper, Dresden, in January 2013, this performance of Brahms’s Piano Concerto No.2 reunited the dream‐team of Maurizio Pollini and the Staatskapelle orchestra under Christian Thielemann. Pollini and Thielemann had already won a prestigious ECHO award for their DG recording of the first concerto, released in 2012.

Premiered nearly twenty years after its predecessor and quite different in character, the concerto is still one of the greatest challenges of the piano repertory – not just because of its daunting technical demands but also because of the sheer scale of its four movements.

 This set brings together his major recordings for Polydor/Deutsche Grammophon. Taking his lead from the greatest conductor of late nineteenth century, Hans von Bülow, Strauss sought to make his conducting ‘of compelling necessity borne of the form and content of the work, with no wasted posturing or inauthentic emotion’.  This 7CD set allows the full spectrum of his conducting to be admired, from 3 CDs of his own major tone poems to his startlingly modern, almost period‐instrument‐style Mozart from the early LP era and fascinating recordings of Beethoven’s 5th and 7th Symphonies. Mike Ashman (Gramophone Magazine, February 2014) claims the Overture to ‘Der fliegender Holländer’ (CD6, 1928) is exceptional.
