It has been a rough few months for the club as everyone is aware that the AZPDC trailer was stolen. Good news, at 2:00 p.m. the same day the police department called to inform me that they had recov- ered the trailer. Dave Auten was a tremendous help. He made two trips to the impound yard to pick it up. The trailer is OK, only the side door needed a new lock. However, everything in the trailer is gone except the rule books. I guess the thieves can’t follow rules, so why take them?

On behalf of the club, THANK YOU DAVE AUTEN for everything you did.

Below are some of the items still needed. If there is anything you can donate or if you know someone who can donate, please let me know. I have already located a company in Apache Junction that will be donating replacement water barrels. Bass Pro Shops and Upland Gear have donated items for us to raf- fle to raise money, Jeff Kalina donated a nice 12’x12’ Easy Up Awning and John and Marilyn Vinson have made a very generous monetary donation. I have sent letters to about 30 different businesses re- questing donations, hopefully we can get a few of the items donated.

Gun rack Bird bags Tables Bird cages Awning Tool box w misc items Chairs Batteries BBQ and propane Sledge hammer? Signage Clip boards and pens 2 way radios Coolers A frame for brace sheets Generator On a good note, we had a good turnout for out Skeet Shooting at Ben Avery. Everyone got to show off their shooting skills. Watch out for Erik, Chuck and Don. If you ever need a gunner at the trials, be sure to hit one of them up. They mopped the floor with all of us novice shooters.

All of the committees have met, new rules for the 2014 trial season are being worked on, dates are be- ing set for the trials, banquet preparations have started and awards are being selected. With all this in mind, in the next month or so, we will be sending out nominations requests for Officers and Board Members for the coming year and for this past year’s trial awards. So start thinking now who you would like to nominate for these positions, who you think would best serve the club and it’s members and who deserves those special awards given at the banquet.

I hope all of you can make it out to the meeting December 10th, 7:00 p.m. at Bass Pro. Bill Gibbons is coming to speak and answer train- ing questions. If I don’t see you all there, have a Happy Holiday, Happy and see you all next year. A good time was had by all who made it out to the Skeet Shoot and BBQ at Ben Avery. We all enjoyed at least two rounds of Skeet and had some burgers provided by the club. Hopefully we can plan another get together like this soon. Rick and Ronnie Smith Foundation Seminar Feb 21, 22, & 23, 2014 here in Coolidge AZ.

This seminar is great for those who are just starting with bird dogs to those that have been into bird dogs for decades. There is something for all to gain knowledge.

Cost is $400.00 per person attending the seminar and Friday evening is check-in where Rick will go over what will be happening over Sat & Sunday, and there will be Q&A.

I have hosted many of Smith Foundation Seminars and there is always something to learn that makes one a better dog handler, and/or teacher. If you don't have a dog yet or are coming from a distance to attend, there will be loaner dogs to help get that hands on experience. Note; the seminar is for the peo- ple to learn dos & don'ts, and get help with dogs by going through things allowing owners/handlers and the dog to become a working team through leadership and leaving out the dictatorship.

If you are interested in the seminar, it has limited entries. If you plan to attend please send a $50.00 deposit check made out to Rick Smith with your name and phone number and email address to: Arlette Hennessey 774 N Wheeler Rd Coolidge AZ 85128.

The checks will be held and handed to Rick on Feb 21... NO CHECK WILL BE CASHED UNTIL AFTER THE SEMINAR.

Please do not wait until the last minute as to seminars have been cancelled because people failed to send in their deposits and leaving the host to think they failed to meet the minimum participants. Please take into consideration that Rick and/or Ronnie when conducting these seminars have to cover their expenses for coming out (Flight, Hotel, Car , rental, & Meals etc)

Having spent a lifetime upland hunting and guiding, George understands training dogs for the walking bird hunter. Thousands of dog owners and handlers have benefited from George Hickox’s train- ing program, experience, and in depth knowledge of canine behavior through the George Hickox School of Dog Training.
