THREE CARD POKER Before the First Card Is Dealt, Each Player Must Place an Ante Wager And/ Or a Pair Plus Wager THREE CARD POKER Before the first card is dealt, each player must place an ante wager and/ or a pair plus wager. The ante wager is a wager against the dealer. The pair plus wager is a wager against a posted scale of payouts. All ante and pair plus wagers must be placed prior to the dealer announcing “no more bets.” Each player and the dealer receive three cards face down. Players then look at their cards and decide whether to fold (forfeit their ante wager), or continue playing by placing a play wager which must be equal in amount to the ante wager. The dealer must qualify with a queen high or better. If the dealer does not have at least a queen high, the ante wager wins 1 to 1 and the play wager is returned. If the dealer qualifies with queen high or better, and if the player’s hand beats the dealer’s hand, the play wager wins 1 to 1 and the ante wager pays 1 to 1. In the event of a tie the hand is declared a push and all wagers are returned. ANTE BONUS Straight • 1 to 1 Three of a Kind • 4 to 1 Straight Flush • 5 to 1 PAIR PLUS PAYOUTS The Pair Plus Wager allows you to wager on the ranked value of your hand as it is dealt. The wager is not in competition with the dealer’s hand. The payouts for the Pair Plus Wager are as follows: Pair • 1 to 1 Flush • 3 to 1 Straight • 6 to 1 Three of a Kind • 30 to 1 Straight Flush • 40 to 1 An incorrect number of cards dealt to either the player or the dealer constitues a misdeal. An exposed card does not constitute a misdeal. More than one exposed card constitutes a misdeal. Ace is the highest ranking card except in 3 - 2 Ace sequence. Players may not exchange or communicate information regarding their hands. Any violation will result in a dead hand and forfeiture of wager. If one or more of the dealer’s cards is inadvertently exposed prior to the dealer revealing his or her hand, all hands shall be void and the cards shall be reshuffled. SIX CARD BONUS The Six Card Bonus Side Bet is a based on the best 5-card poker hand that can be made from the six cards dealt to the Dealer and Player. Thus, each Player uses his own 3 cards and combines them with the Dealer’s 3 cards. A player is eligible to Six Card Bonus even if he folds his Ante/ Play wager. HAND PAYS * Royal Flush • 1000 to 1 Straight Flush • 200 to 1 Four of a Kind • 50 to 1 Full House • 25 to 1 Flush • 20 to 1 Straight • 10 to 1 Three of a Kind • 5 to 1 FIVE CARD PROGRESSIVE WAGER This Progressive is linked to your favorite Poker games: Three Card Poker, Four Card Poker, Let It Ride, Mississippi Stud and Ultimate Texas Hold’em! • Toward Legalization of Poker: the Skill Vs. Chance Debate Robert C
Toward Legalization of Poker: The Skill vs. Chance Debate Robert C. Hannum* Anthony N. Cabot Abstract This paper sheds light on the age-old argument as to whether poker is a game in which skill predominates over chance or vice versa. Recent work addressing the issue of skill vs. chance is reviewed. This current study considers two different scenarios to address the issue: 1) a mathematical analysis supported by computer simulations of one random player and one skilled player in Texas Hold'Em, and 2) full-table simulation games of Texas Hold'Em and Seven Card Stud. Findings for scenario 1 showed the skilled player winning 97 percent of the hands. Findings for scenario 2 further reinforced that highly skilled players convincingly beat unskilled players. Following this study that shows poker as predominantly a skill game, various gaming jurisdictions might declare poker as such, thus legalizing and broadening the game for new venues, new markets, new demographics, and new media. Internet gaming in particular could be expanded and released from its current illegality in the U.S. with benefits accruing to casinos who wish to offer online poker. Keywords: Poker, games of skill, games of chance, mathematics The game of poker has become enormously popular over the last decade, in large part due to significantly increased Internet and television exposure. Tournament poker, in particular, has become a viable spectator sport with the advent of specialized cameras that allow the television audience to view the hidden cards of the players. This increased popularity and the uneven legal standing of the game in various jurisdictions has resulted in considerable media attention as well as debates over whether certain forms of poker should be legalized.

TEXAS HOLD’EM RULES 1. The goal of Texas Hold’em is to win the pot with the highest ranking five-card poker hand attainable out of the seven (two personal and five community cards) available. Traditional poker hand rankings apply. Additionally, traditional suit ranking apply, with spades being the highest suit and clubs being the lowest suit. 2. Deck: The game is played with a standard 52 card deck with no jokers. 3. Table: The game shall be played on a standard poker table which accommodates up to ten (10) seated positions. 4. Texas Hold’em uses a flat disc called a dealer button to indicate the position of the deal. The dealer button moves clockwise one seat each hand. The button (player with the dealer button) is last to receive cards on the initial deal and has the right of last-action on all betting rounds except the first. 5. Action is initiated on the first betting round by the player on the immediate left of the big blind. On all subsequent betting rounds the action is begun by the first active player clockwise from the dealer button. Players must post both blinds each round. In a new game, players are dealt cards, with the highest card by suit receiving the dealer button. All blinds are “live”, meaning during the first round of betting, the player with a blind has the option of raising the port when the action reaches them even if there has been no previous raise. 6. There are designated blinds in Texas Hold’em, the small blind and the big blind (two, in the first and second positions to the left of the dealer button).
