GREETINGS FROM UNITED SOLO

Dear Friends, Now in its fifth anniversary season, the United Solo Festival, the world’s largest solo theatre festival, celebrates a dynamic expansion. The inaugural United Solo in 2010 was a two-week event, but the festival will span over ten weeks in 2014. We will present over 130 productions, including shows by American artists from 25 states and international performances from six continents. During our five seasons, we shared almost 500 productions created by renowned artists and emerging talents. We presented selected performances in our overseas showcase, United Solo Europe, and recommended scripts for publication by the digital library Indie Theater Now. Our shows reached thousands of audience members, attracted media attention, helped us fundraise for the Actors Fund, and ultimately built a festival that unites people from around the globe. But these five years are just the beginning of our mission. The success of United Solo has been made possible thanks to so many people. I extend my gratitude to our patrons for their continued interest and appreciation, our artists for their inspiring work, our business partners for their commitment and support, United Solo Academy members for setting the highest standards for our organization, our festival team and volunteers for their dedication, and the Theatre Row staff for providing us with our home in New York. Each page of this program is an invitation for you to celebrate with us and enjoy as many shows as you like.

Happy Quinquennial!
