Days are still grey and drizzly, dark and cold… But soon Spring will be with us – and that’s the perfect time to introduce playing out on your street. There is Neighbourhood Partnership funding available to support new streets to play out in Bishopston, Cotham and Redland until July, so now is the time to start the ball rolling, as it takes at least a couple of months to organise things. After July, residents will still be able to get advice from the fantastic Playing Out website and phone-line, but there will be less one-to-one support available in this area. Please get in touch to find out how you can encourage children to get out and active where you live – It’s a fab way for them to make new friends, develop their confidence and have healthy fun right on their doorstep. It’s also a great opportunity for neighbours of all ages to be able to use their street as a social space, to get to know each other better and to develop a stronger sense of community. Bristol artists and creatives are still signing Grind & Alec Jupp of Elephant Estate Agents up to submit artwork for this exciting project. Council spending cuts have meant that the whole road cannot be covered at this time. We have therefore decided to start with the Glos Rd Central area with the hope of expanding up and down the road in the future. The deadline for submitting artwork is 20 February. We would love images with themes such as 'Bike' 'Love' 'Art' 'Colourful' 'Welcome' 'Eat' 'Drink' 'Relax' 'Fresh Food' 'Shop', etc. See images below for ideas. Not only will artists have the chance to see their artwork up on banners but they could be printed in different ways – on Glos Rd Central bags, postcards and even giant wheelie bin stickers! Bishop Road school children are being set projects by their teachers to create artwork for Gloucester Road community themes. Room 212 owner Sarah Thorp is always looking for Gloucester Road inspired images to sell in her gallery, so if you want to take part but feel your images don't work in the banner format then send them in via the Room 212 website www.room212.co.uk. We look forward to seeing your creations! More details: www.glosrdcentral.co.uk.

At Secret Garden we now enjoy creating garden rooms as part of our complete garden design and landscaping service. With more people working from home or not wanting to move but needing to create more space, these outdoor rooms are proving to be extremely popular. There are a range of materials the rooms can be created in; we would draft up some designs for you after meeting to see what you would like to get out of this new space. We will create a structure that will compliment both your garden and lifestyle. Some of our clients have taken the opportunity to give their whole outdoor space a makeover.
