Summer term in Welcome to our summer brochure of courses and workshops at our adult community education centres in , Erewash and . We have an exciting summer ahead with our annual Festival of Learning held the week starting 22 June. Look out for events and free workshops with a Go Green Derbyshire theme. Courses are grouped together by subject, then listed by centre so you can see at a glance what your options are. Our main centres are detailed below, plus we have provision at Strutts Centre , The Hub South Normanton and other community venues. ACE Centre Alfreton ACE Centre is located near the leisure centre on Church Street, with easy public transport access and limited parking spaces labelled Adult Education. Our celebration event in Alfreton will be a clothes and accessories exchange on Wednesday 24 June (1pm to 3pm). See page 4 for details. Bring along your new and/or nearly new adult clothes, bags, shoes and accessories for exchange. For each item you bring you will receive a ticket to allow you to take away an item. There is a £2 entry fee including free craft workshop and refreshments. 1pm Drop off your items, collect your exchange tickets (one per item) and enjoy the refreshments and craft activities 2pm Browse and exchange your tickets for clothes/accessories 3pm Items left will be donated to local charities. Proceeds will be donated to local charities for the homeless. Most employers look for at least a GCSE grade 4/C in English and maths, and people with good GCSE grades in these subjects earn approximately £2,000 more per year. The thought of doing a GCSE might be daunting, particularly if you haven’t studied at this level for some time. If this is you, why not book onto one of our FREE Step Up to GCSE courses in June? These short courses are designed to give you a flavour of what the GCSE would involve and how you would find the subject. It will help you to decide if a GCSE course is right for you, whilst helping prepare you for the commitment and standard of work required to start in September.
