The recently adopted Erewash Core Strategy has been produced in broad alignment with the Aligned Core Strategies of Broxtowe Borough, Gedling Borough and Nottingham City Councils, as the Borough forms part of the Nottingham Core Housing Market Area. Erewash Borough Council believe that working together to prepare broadly aligned strategic policies with the other Greater Nottingham Councils (also including Rushcliffe Borough Council) has led to effective and more joined up planning outcomes, whilst making best use of resources by sharing staff and expertise, whilst also providing value for money by sharing the cost of producing much of the common evidence base. This partnership working has also enabled the Council’s to fulfil their statutory Duty to Cooperate. Erewash Borough Council therefore welcomes the opportunity to comment on this consultation and largely supports these proposed modifications. However, Erewash Borough Council would like to point out in relation to Proposed Main Modifications C259a & C264a that it has yet to make a decision on the merits or otherwise of an extension of the tram route into Erewash Borough. Indeed the recently adopted Erewash Core Strategy makes no reference to this matter and it also did not form any part of the Borough Council’s response to the HS2 Ltd Phase 2 line of route consultation (see attachment).

It identifies the basic actions we must collectively take if we are to protect and enhance the key biodiversity of this region. The UK Government recognises its international obligations and the economic urgency to protect biodiversity and ecosystems. This LBAP is part of that delivery and local reporting mechanism. Only those habitats and species meeting the UKBAP definitions of ‘Priority Habitat’ or ‘Priority Species’ are included in the targets for the Lowland Derbyshire Action Plans.     E: [email protected] T: https://joinedupcarederbyshire.co.uk Media information 16 December 2020 Derbyshire GPs plan to open first vaccination sites in Dronfield and Ripley Derbyshire GPs are due to begin vaccinating their first patients against Covid-19 at medical centres in Dronfield and Ripley. The primary care vaccination sites are expected to be the first of their kind in Derbyshire to begin using the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, following the initial launch of vaccinations at the Royal Derby Hospital and Chesterfield Royal Hospital last week. The plan is for Stubley Medical Centre in Dronfield to conduct its first vaccinations on Friday morning, followed by Church Farm Primary Care Centre in Ripley on Saturday morning, joining practices all over the country taking delivery of the vaccine in local vaccination centres in villages, towns and cities covering every part of the country. Chair: John MacDonald Executive Lead: Dr Chris Clayton People should wait to be contacted about their vaccination, and do not need to visit or contact their GP about the vaccine. Vaccinations are initially being provided for those aged 80 and over, as well as care home workers and residents, identified as priority groups for the life- saving vaccine. Stubley Medical Centre is one of 11 GP practices managed by Chesterfield and Dronfield Primary Care Network (PCN) in north-east Derbyshire. The PCN’s Clinical Lead, Dr Miles Davidson, who is Senior Partner at Stubley Medical Centre, said the first vaccinations represented a turning point for the people of Derbyshire: “I’m delighted that we are able to begin delivering Covid-19 vaccinations at a local level.

  • The Strutt Industrial Settlement in Belper
    The Strutt industrial settlement in Belper Modern Belper represents at least four phases of development: the original medieval rural settlement of Beaurepaire that centres on the chapel of St John; the later growth lower down the hill which, by the middle years of the 18th century included a market place on a lower level than the present one; the industrial community established by Jedediah Strutt in the late 18th century on the northern edge of the existing settlement and around Belper Bridge Foot and up Belper Lane; and the 19th century expansion of the commercial centre along King Street and Bridge Street. The most prominent of the Strutt industrial housing stands on land to the south of the mill complex and to the east of the Derby-Matlock road. The land was acquired largely through numerous individual purchases, with its end use for workers’ housing clearly in mind. The houses were all of a high standard with gardens and, in certain areas, allotments for the residents. The housing, constructed from Derbyshire gritstone or locally made brick, and roofed with Staffordshire blue clay tiles or Welsh slate, was largely placed in an east-west alignment connected by narrow passages giving an almost grid-iron character to the layout. Construction of housing by the Strutt estate continued into the 20th century. The houses vary in form from row to row as the Strutts experimented with different designs. The result is a visually cohesive, attractive and unique mix of workers’ housing. As well as the land on the slopes to the east of the mills, the Strutts had also by the 1790s acquired land and property and started to build housing on the south facing slope to the north-west, adjoining their Bridge Hill estate.
