Summer term in South Derbyshire Welcome to our summer brochure of courses and workshops at our adult community education centres in Amber Valley, Erewash and Swadlincote. We have an exciting summer ahead with our annual Festival of Learning held the week starting 22 June. Look out for events and free workshops with a Go Green Derbyshire theme. Courses are grouped together by subject, then listed by centre so you can see at a glance what your options are. Our main centres are detailed below, plus we have provision at Strutts Centre Belper, The Hub South Normanton and other community venues. Alfreton ACE Centre Alfreton ACE Centre is located near the leisure centre on Church Street, with easy public transport access and limited parking spaces labelled Adult Education. Our celebration event in Alfreton will be a clothes and accessories exchange on Wednesday 24 June (1pm to 3pm). See page 4 for details. Community House Long Eaton ACE Centre Community House ACE Centre is located on Derby Road, Long Eaton opposite The Sportsman pub. The centre has easy public transport access and a car park to the front and rear. Our celebration event in Long Eaton will be a clothes and accessories exchange on Thursday 25 June (1pm to 3pm). See page 4 for details. Cotmanhay and Ilkeston ACE Centre Cotmanhay ACE Centre is located on the corner of Bennerley Avenue and Cotmanhay Road. The centre has easy public transport access and a car park at the rear. Swadlincote ACE Centre Swadlincote ACE Centre is located in the centre of Swadlincote on Rink Drive, to the rear of Greggs. The centre has easy public transport access and ample free parking. During the term we will have charity collection points in our reception areas to drop off your old glasses and phones. Bring along your new and/or nearly new adult clothes, bags, shoes and accessories for exchange. For each item you bring you will receive a ticket to allow you to take away an item. There is a £2 entry fee including free craft workshop and refreshments. 1pm Drop off your items, collect your exchange tickets (one per item) and enjoy the refreshments and craft activities 2pm Browse and exchange your tickets for clothes/accessories 3pm Items left will be donated to local charities. Proceeds will be donated to local charities for the homeless. Family learning Learn as a family, with parents/carers/grandparents attending with young school-aged children to create and learn together. Each adult may bring up to 3 children.
