Some 2.5 million Arab tourists arrived in Egypt last year, and the country’s tour- ism ministry expects the number to soar to three million by this year-end. Arab tourist arrivals totalled only 1.8 million in 2011. In the first quarter of this year (January to March), Arab tourist arrivals in Egypt totalled a little over 520,000, up 7.5 percent over the corresponding period of 2012, when the figure was 484,000. Arab tourists have larger stays in Egypt as compared to their counterparts from the rest of the world, the average being 11 nights in 2011, Al Sharq reported yesterday, citing tourism ministry figures. Arab tourists spent 7.4 million nights in Egypt in 2012, up 14.4 percent over the pre- vious year, and their average spending per night was $83.7. Egypt’s tourism minister, Hisham Zazou, said that his country banked more on tour- ists from the GCC countries and gave them much importance because the region con- tributed hugely to the tourism industry. ROOFTOP He said he expected tourist arrivals from the oil-rich GCC region to breach the one million-mark by year-end.

Over the past seventeen years this format has grown leaps and bounds and is very keenly watched by all stakeholders involved with the game. The popularity and the growth of T20 has led to cricket boards taking this format with uttermost seriousness and every major cricket playing nation has its own international team and domestic league. Over the past seventeen years the strategies involved in succeeding in this format have also evolved and teams at the international, franchise and domestic level are trying to evolve their playbook to gain a comparative advantage. Seventeen years since T20 cricket started, preparation for matches globally have changed from casual chats in team meetings. For coaches and captains, dossiers of 25 pages are common; these dissect the opponent's strengths and weaknesses, suggest set-plays, which are the optimum ways that a bowler can set up a batsman, and explain the best parts of the ground to target and which end might suit each bowler best This research paper will delve into a potential winning strategy for a T20 side.

ISSUE I/2012 African Sports Law and Business Bulletin Issue 3/2017 Sports Law and Policy Centre INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS IN SPORTS: A TRICK OR TWO NIGERIA CAN LEARN FROM THE GLOBAL GAME by Ugochukwu Johnson Amadi LLM [LEEDS BECKETT UNIVERSITY] ABSTRACT The concept of sport has transcended the context of mere leisure and entertainment to become a significant revenue stream and a major contributor to economies all over the world. Sports practitioners all over the world have been able to generate enormous revenues from the exploitation of aspects of intellectual property rights via merchandising and so on. However, in Nigeria the recognition of the potential resident in a vibrant sports industry has been non-existent or too little. This article explores generally how sports professionals and sports events organisers in the UK, US and India have been able to exploit intellectual property rights in sports with a view of suggesting that sports professionals and sports associations/sports events organisers to embrace intellectual property rights. Finally this article will proffer solutions that could be adopted in the Nigerian jurisdiction with respect to more effectively protecting intellectual property rights in Nigerian sports. Introduction Sports have always been an important part of human social existence. They are so ingrained in our lives and have hence become an exciting part of our daily lives.
