Each department has operations and maintenance yards for vehicles and equipment, and each departments conducts in- house staff training on stormwater pollution prevention practices annually as part crew “tailgate” trainings and safety and environmental protection trainings. FAF conducted four Stormwater Pollution Prevention “tailgate” trainings to a total of 38 maintenance staff during October and November 2014, for example. For additional information, refer to the C.2 Municipal Operations section of the FY 14-15 Program Annual Report for a description of program and regional activities implemented. All departments follow the BASMAA BMP's in situations when wash water must be used. Comments: Graffiti is painted over by County departments and painting is only done during dry weather. Maintenance of bridges by Roads consists of replacing damaged railing or guard rails. As with all other maintenance work, bridge work is subject to applicable measures included in the CASQA Stormwater BMP Handbook. Major bridge maintenance work is done by contractors, and BMPs are mandated by both the County and other regulatory agencies (i.e., the California Department of Fish and Wildlife) involved in the review and permitting of those projects.
