Kordos, Executive Director idea and heard the excitement about building a performing arts presents center here, in the south suburbs of Chicago -- perhaps in your backyard. Original Costume Design by Oscar de la Renta ALBERTO J. ARIAS (Chicago, IL) danced with Joseph Holmes Chicago Dance Theatre and was Hubbard Street Dance Chicago nominated for the 1989 Chicago Dance Coalition's Ruth Page Award for Outstanding Dancer. He choreographed a music video for MTV and assisted choreographer Harrison McEldowney LOU CONTE (Founder and Artistic Director) began dance lessons as a child in DuQuoin, Illinois. A in Don DeSilva's Fame with director David Bell in Pittsburgh and Houston. Mr. Arias has zoology major at Southern Illinois University, Mr. Conte returned to dance in 1960, inspired by Marie Hale, currently artistic director of Ballet Florida. After Mr. Conte studied in Florida, New York and at the Ellis- expanded his interests into dance administration, serving as the assistant to the company DuBouIay School in Chicago, his career took him to Broadway where in 1964, at the age of 22, he manager for HSDC. He joined HSDC in 1985. performed in the chorus of Bob Fosse's How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Other Broadway credits include Cabaret and Mame, both in New York and on the road From the mid-1960s to early 1970s, SHAN BAI (Beijing, China) started her dance training at the school of the Silk Road Dance he choreographed more than 30 musicals. As a principal dancer, she toured the U.S., Canada, Korea, Japan Conte returned to Chicago in the mid-1970s to establish the Lou Conte Dance Studio, and in 1977 founded Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. In 1992, Mr. Conte choreographed a dance for Madonna in the film A league of Their Own TINA BROCK (Rochester, NY) studied dance on scholarship with the schools of the Boston, GAIL KALVER (Executive Director) a native Chicagoan, joined HSDC in 1984. She received a degree in Jeffrey, Cleveknd and Rochester City Ballets. She performed with the Rochester City Ballet from music education from the University of Illinois and a master's in clarinet from Chicago Musical College. Ms. 1992 to 1994 and with Disney's Pocahontas NYC premiere in Central Park. Ms. Brock began Kalver founded and managed the Windy City Wind Ensemble, taught clarinet and performed with her apprenticeship with HSDC in June 1995. ensembles and orchestras including the Chicago Symphony, Lyric Opera and Grant Park Symphony. After serving as assistant to the manager of special services for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, she joined the Ravinia Festival staff where she eventually became associate manager. Ms. Kalver was music consultant to CHRISTINE CARRILLO (South Holland, H) studied dance with Loretta Rozack, Stone & the Peabody award-winning National Radio Theatre. She has served on the board of Dance/USA and on Cameron, Richard Atve, Delores Lipinski, Margaret Lynn DiCianni and Warren Conover. She numerous funding panels, including the lila Wallace-Reader's Digest Arts Partners Panel, city, state and joined HSDC in 1989 and currently studies with Ginger Farley, Birute Barodicaite and Larry regional agency funding panels and the Dance on Tour and Challenge Panels of the National Endowment for Long. For three seasons she performed in Ruth Page's spring concerts and in the Nutcracker. the Arts. Ms. Kalver serves on the boards of the Chicago Dance Coalition and the Illinois Arts Alliance. She Ms. Carrillo also performed as a guest artist at Barat College and with the Chicago Repertory is a member of the advisory committee of the School of Music of DePaul University and serves on the Arts Advisory Council of the Arts Business Council and the Arts Advisory Council of Bowen High School in Dance Ensemble's 1988 "New Dances" program. Chicago. Ms. Kalver is the recipient of the Chicago Dance Coalition's 1988 Ruth Page Award for her \ outstanding contribution to the Chicago dance community. SANDI J. COOKSEY ffuneau, AJO started dancing in 1980 while she was a competitive gymnast in Monterey, CA. Her dance studies include Hidden Valley Dance Center, Janice Hoist MARIA SIMONETTI (Rehearsal Director/Ballet Mistress) studied at the Institute of Superior Art of the Dance School, The National Academy of Arts, Giordano Dance Center and Lou Conte Dance Colon Theatre in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where her instructors included Olga Ferri, Maria Luisa Lemos and Studio.
