Biological Sciences Honors Program Thesis Library 1 Greetings! We’re very glad that you’ve shown interest in our thesis library. The library, as you might already know, is located in the rear of the main Honors Office (118 Neihardt), and is open from 8-5 on weekdays. What follows is a list of theses that students have completed prior to their graduation from the Honors Program. It contains only those theses that have been processed and filed in our library, organized by the major that the student completed while at the university. The organization of each entry is as follows: First Name Last Name Other Majors (if applicable) Faculty Advisor Thesis Title This is fairly straightforward and intuitive. The theses in the library proper are organized by the student’s last name, rather than by subject area. This document is, as a result, a valuable resource when looking for relevant theses. However, be warned: students are allowed to complete a thesis in the subject area of their choice, which means that there are some mathematics majors who wrote physics theses, some biology majors who wrote English theses, and the like. If you see a thesis title that looks markedly out of place, it is a testament to the varied intellectual interests of our students in the Honors Program. Enjoy your time perusing the theses, and we hope to see you soon! Alex Claussen As an addendum: if you visit the library, we ask that you return viewed theses to the available tray, rather than refiling them. This document is updated annually. 2 Accounting Kelly East Other Majors: Finance Amanda Adams Faculty Advisor(s): Terrence Sebora Faculty Advisor(s): Sucheta Nadkarni Thesis: Expanding Cutts Floral Distributors Thesis: Theoretical Model for Successful Mass Media Consolidation Katharine Erickson Faculty Advisor(s): Kristen Lucas Lindsay Anderson Thesis: Women in Accounting: A Gendered Look at Faculty Advisor(s): Janice Lawrence the Accounting Profession Thesis: Whistle-Blowing Jamie Fahnhorst Lynn Anderson Other Majors: International Business Faculty Advisor(s): Renee Price Faculty Advisor(s): Terrence Sebora Thesis: A Study of Pension Rate Estimates Thesis: Lied Center Hollyann Augustine Keenan Fischman Faculty Advisor(s): Linda Ruchala Other Majors: Thesis: Teaching Ethics: What are Our Options Falculty Advisor(s): Joel Cramer Thesis: The combined effects of aerobic exervise Lyndsey Berg training and CLA supplementation on heart rate, Other Majors: Finance blood pressure, and serum concentrations of Faculty Advisor(s): Terrence Sebora triglycerides, cholesterol, and glucose Thesis: Expanding Cutts Floral Distributors Casey Fahrnbruch Matthew Bode Faculty Advisor(s): Terrence Sebora Faculty Advisor(s): Thesis: The Viability of Distributed Wind Generation Thesis: Managing Performance: The Goodyear Way for Farm and Rural Communities (MNGT 475H Project) Lukas Bomar Other Majors: International Business Anita Fuchs Faculty Advisor(s): Terrence Sebora Faculty Advisor(s): Terrence Sebora Thesis: Werner Global Logistics Supply Chain Case Thesis: 7th Heaven: A Strategic Report (MNGT Study 475H) Amy Charter Samuel Goodwin Faculty Advisor(s): Sucheta Nadkarni Faculty Advisor(s): Terrence Sebora Thesis: The Internationalization of Retail Firms Thesis: The Viability of Distributed Wind Generation for Farm and Rural Communities (MNGT 475H Kimberly Dahl Project) Faculty Advisor(s): Terrence Sebora Thesis: NET in the Digital Age David Graff Faculty Advisor(s): Sucheta Nadkarni Alexander Drvol Thesis: CEO and Employee Compensation Faculty Advisor(s): Subrata Chakrabarty Thesis: Cultural Incongruences in Foreign Nations: Melissa Hamiel Whistle-Blowing Policies and Cognitive Dissonance Faculty Advisor(s): Thesis: Assurance Services and the Future of Professional Auditing 3 Antonia Harris Kara Leachman Faculty Advisor(s): Sucheta Nadkarni Other Major(s): Business Administration Thesis: Theoretical Model for Successful Mass Media Faculty Advisor(s): Dr. Chakrabarty Consolidation Thesis: Corporate Governance Structure: planning for financial crisis and balancing shareholder Robert Harvey interest Other Majors: Finance Faculty Advisor(s): Tammy Beck Alyssa Lynne Mach Thesis: J. You can position the text box THE NEWSLETTER OF THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF JEFFERSON COUNTY anywhere in the document. Use the Drawing Tools tab to change the formatting of the pull quote text box.] December, 2012: A Season of Giving As the Humane Society of Jefferson County nears the end of the first year of operating the shelter, between 750 and 800 animals will have come into our care. I want to thank the many supporters of the Humane Society who made it possible to provide the shelter and care for these animals when there was nowhere else for them to go. Those who have been kind enough to make a donation to the shelter allow us to provide food, medical care, and supplies. The businesses who have supported the shelter in so many different ways are appreciated and deserve the support of the community. Without all of you the fates of these animals would have been very different. Please consider making a donation to the Humane Society during the holiday season to help insure there will always be a shelter for animals in need. A donation to HSJC is perfect for anyone on your gift list; they will receive a lovely holiday card advising them of the gift you made in their name. –Paul Becker From all at the shelter we wish you and your companionA Stormy animals Lifea very Happy Holiday Season. by Susan Johnson Paul Becker When Stormy first came to the shelter we weren’t sure if she was named for her looks (she’s a handsome short-haired, Russian Blue type) or her temperament.
