(040) 853 88 888 ∙ www.fkpscorpio.com PRESSEMITTEILUNG 11.05.2018 Natalie Prass im Herbst für vier Termine in Deutschland Die Songs waren schon komponiert, die Band stand bereit, sogar das Studio war gebucht und die Fans warteten gespannt auf den Nachfolger des grandiosen, selbstbetitelten Debütalbums von Natalie Prass aus dem Jahr 2015. Nach einer gefühlt ewigen Zeit auf Tour, sei es mit den Fleet Foxes, The War on Drugs, auf Festivals oder als Headliner, war Prass mehr als bereit für ihr zweites, kleines Meisterwerk. Doch kurz vor den Aufnahmen entscheidet sie alles, die Lyrics, die Songs, die Musik, in die Tonne zu treten. Der Grund? Die US-Wahlen in 2016. Deren Ergebnis riefen in ihr ein Gefühl der Hoffnungslosigkeit und einen Impuls hervor, dem sie nicht widerstehen konnte: Sie musste das Album überarbeiten. „Ich war verzweifelt. Ich fragte mich, was das für mich als Frau in Amerika bedeutet. Also habe ich mich entschlossen, die Platte neu zu schreiben. Ich musste mir über meine Gefühle klar werden und meine Ausdrucksmöglichkeit, die Musik, nutzen, um aus der Angst rauszukommen und allen Leuten Mut zu machen.“ So entstand „The Future And The Past“, eine beeindruckende Momentaufnahme einer Musikerin im Stadium ihrer persönlichen Neuentdeckung. Die Platte ist ein kraftvolles Statement einer Feministin, politisch und musikalisch auf höchstem Niveau. Hier traut sich endlich wieder jemand, Protest und Party in einem Song zusammenzubringen. Zusammen mit Produzent Matthew E. White entstand ein Album wie eine trotzige Feier, auf der Freude, Frustration, Angst und Hoffnung zusammengeführt und aufgelöst werden. Die üppig arrangierten Balladen und tanzenden Grooves enthalten eine Kombination aus allem von Gospel über Pop der 80er und den R'n‘B der 90er, einer Prise Funk und Soul und Disco bis hin zu brasilianischen Tropikalia. Diese Musik entstand zwar aus Zweifel und Enttäuschung, steckt aber dennoch voller Glauben und Optimismus. Oder wie Natalie Prass es schlicht und wahr auf den Punkt bringt: „Music’s supposed to make you feel better.“ Im Juni erscheint „The Future And The Past“, und im November kommt Natalie Prass damit zu uns auf Deutschland-Tour.
