FOREIGNER Can't Slow Down (Rock FM / AOR / Westcoast) FOREIGNER Can't slow down (Rock FM / AOR / Westcoast) Année de sortie : 2009 Nombre de pistes : 13 Durée : 49' Support : MP3 Provenance : Acheté Je vais débuter cette chronique du retour aussi inespéré qu'inattendu d'une légende du Hard-Rock / Rock-FM par quelques chiffres : 1/ Premier album 1977 (Foreigner) Ce Can't Slow Down déboule donc 32 ans plus tard (jolie carrière tout de même !) et est le neuvième studio du groupe ! 2/ FOREIGNER a vendu plus de 65 millions de cds au monde. (Et c'est pas fini !) Après ses 3 remarquables et remarqués premiers albums (1977 Foreigner, 1978 Double Vison, 1979 Head Games), c'est en 1981 que le groupe explose les compteurs avec 4 (avec le géant John Mutt LANGE aux "manettes"). Agent Provocateur, 1984 laissera une place conséquente aux claviers et placera encore quelques hymnes (I Wanna Know What Love Is, That Was Yesterday) dans les charts mondiaux. La suite, c'est Inside Information en 1987, un bon album avec son single "Say You Will", puis le départ de son chanteur Lou GRAMM... Et avant son retour pour un agréable et calme Mr Moonlight en 1995, FOREIGNER offre un Unusual Heat inégal dont je retiens la ballade I'll Fight For You, avec un nouveau et excellent chanteur (Johnny EDWARDS). Vous noterez donc qu'il aura fallu attendre 14 ans pour que FOREIGNER livre un nouvel opus. Attente récompensé s'il en est ! FOREIGNER revient donc en 2009 avec une formule à 6 musiciens, comme à ses débuts. Mais des débuts justement, il ne reste que Mick JONES, notre anglais dont le duo avec Lou GRAMM, notre américain fit des miracles d'écritures par le passé ! En revanche, bonne pioche pour le choix du nouveau chanteur absolument prodigieux et nommé Kelly HANSEN. Je note dans sa carrière un passage chez HURRICANE dans les années 80'. En tout cas, sa prestation est délectable et le timbre de voix nous ramène vers Lou GRAMM, quelques aigus en moins. Côté compositions, FOREIGNER nous offre un album très mélodique, parfois fort bien cuivré, excellent et globalement très Rock-Fm. Le titre le plus puissant, (presque Hard) Can't Slow Down ouvre magnifiquement l'album. Les 12 autres titres suivant enchainent du bon au sublime. Je retiens un slow truffé de feelings, I Can't Give Up, le superbe mid-tempo très U2 In Peaces, un dernier titre très Aor avec ses cuivres Fool For You Anyway, un titre magique, très Rock-Fm moderne intitulé Ready. Et que dire du très Pop-Rock Too Late, si ce n'est qu'il marche sur les traces d'un MAROON 5 ! Le saupoudré de cuivre mid-tempo When It Comes To Love est sublime, tout comme les As © www.metal-integral.com 9/30/21, 4:45 PM Long As I Live ou Angel Tonight. Bref, un album délicieux, divinement inspiré et parfaitement mixé et produit signé par Mick JONES, guitares, Kelly HANSEN, chant, Jeff PILSON, basse, Tom GIMBEL, flute, guitare rythmique, saxophone, Michael BLUSTEIN, claviers et Brian TICHY aux fûts. Et puis cet album n'aurait pas cette dimension sans la présence de Marti FREDERIKSEN qui co-écrit avec Mick JONES et Kelly HANSEN la quasi totalité des titres. Marti FREDIKSEN, guitariste, claviériste, chant et percussions et producteur réussit avec Mick JONES le son parfait ! A noter également une pléiade d'invités dont Jason BOHNAM, venu enregistrer les parties batterie sur Too Late ou encore Mark RONSON pour la production du délicieux Fool For You Anyway. Sachez enfin, si vous êtes collectionneu(se)r que ce nouvel album est également proposé pour 32 € environ avec 2 cds bonus. Le premier offre une relecture de 10 titres extraits des 5 premiers albums du groupes en version remix et chantés par Kelly HANSEN. Et à part le premier couplet de I Wanna Know What Love Is, il s'en sort avec les honneurs !!! Pas indispensable certes mais, car il y a un mais, Anthony FOX et Marti FREDERICKSEN, tout en restant fidèles aux originaux ont apporté dans leur travail en plus du son un petit quelque chose d'agréable. Enfin, le dvd vous présente FOREIGNER 2009 en tournée en Europe avec une collection de standards du groupe sur scène et c'est plutôt excellent. Alors, ce n'est pas un concert dans son intégralité mais 10 titres dont certains présentent des images de plusieurs concerts ! Et le dvd alternent live et images de coulisses ou des musiciens dans le "bus tour" ou dans les villes. Cette approche n'est pas terrible car les prestations scéniques, elles, le sont ! A noter un Juke Box Hero et un Urgent endiablés ! Où quand FOREIGNER rime avec BONHEUR !     Lyricist Gandhiji – Revisited September 20, 2012. ‘Ganesh’ festival holiday. So, set out for a short trip cum outing to Ahmadabad, (Gujrat, India) with my wife. As this was the first visit, tour to ‘Akshardham’ temple and ‘Sabarmati ashram’ were on top priorities. Akshardham temple was a very nice place but It was quite hot outside the temple as we set out towards Sabarmati. Car driver too was quite restless due to this unusual heat. However, as we approached the town, suddenly the atmosphere changed with black clouds in the sky and a real transfer scene. It was getting ready to pour anytime. Just before this visit, I had read a nice book ‘Meera and Mahatma’ by Sudheer Kakkar. It had many pages describing this sacred place. This was an ideal laboratory for preparing volunteers for freedom struggle and ‘Satyagraha’. Gandhiji had spent several years here with his novel experiments in many fields. His disciple and close associate Meeraben also spent many years of her youth. She was a British lady but had faith in Gandhiji’s philosophy and joined his work at Sabarmati. This book describes lives of Meera and Mahatma, a young revolutionary Prithvising occupying her life for a while, Gandhiji’s advice to her in such a situation and so on. So, I had lots of vague images of that period and people in my mind. Akshardham temple is located far away from town and the ashram is now quite inside the city. The temple has lot of strict security due to a terrorist attack few years ago.
