When starting a motor under load condition becomes paramount, obviously a wound rotor (slip ring) induction becomes the best choice of A.C. motor. This is because maximum torque at starting can be achieved by adding external resistance to the rotor circuit through slip-rings. Normally a face-plate type starter is used, and as the resistance is gradually reduced, the motor characteristics at each stage changes from the other (John Bird 2010). Hence, the three phase wound rotor (slip ring) induction motor competes favourably with the squirrel cage induction motor counterpart as the most widely used three-phase induction motor for industrial applications. The world-wide popularity and availability of this motor type has attracted a deep – look and in-depth research including its transient behavior under plugging (operating) condition. This paper unveils, through mathematical modeling, followed by dynamic simulation, the transient performance of this peculiar machine, analyzed based on Park’s transformation technique. That is with direct-quadrature-zero (d-q-o) axis based modeling in stationary reference frame. -

What are the principal advantages of rotating field system type of construction of synchronous machines? · Form Stationary connection between external circuit and system of conditions enable the machine to handle large amount of volt-ampere as high as 500 MVA. · The relatively small amount of power required for field system can be easily supplied to the rotating field system via slip rings and brushes. · More space is available in the stator part of the machine for providing more insulation to the system of conductors. · Insulation to stationary system of conductors is not subjected to mechanical stresses due to centrifugal action. · Stationary system of conductors can easily be braced to prevent deformation. -

Electro deposition is the process of coating a thin layer of one metal on top of different metal to modify its surface properties. It is done to achieve the desire electrical and corrosion resistance, reduce wear &friction, improve heat tolerance and for decoration. Electroplating Basics Fig-1. Electrochemical Plating Figure- 1, schematically illustrates a simple electrochemical plating system. The ―electro‖ part of the system includes the voltage/current source and the electrodes, anode and cathode, immersed in the ―chemical‖ part of the system, the electrolyte or plating bath, with the circuit being completed by the flow of ions from the plating bath to the electrodes. The metal to be deposited may be the anode and be ionized and go into solution in the electrolyte, or come from the composition of the plating bath. Copper, tin, silver and nickel metal usually comes from anodes, while gold salts are usually added to the plating bath in a controlled process to maintain the composition of the bath. The plating bath generally contains other ions to facilitate current flow between the electrodes. The deposition of metal takes place at the cathode. The overall plating process occurs in the following sequence: 1. Power supply pumps electrons into the cathode. 2. An electron from the cathode transfers to a positively charged metal ion in the solution and the reduced metal plates onto the cathode. -

Samuel Rajesh Babu Research Scholar, Sathyabama University, India Abstract: In electric traction application electrical energy used was: 1.direct current and 2.alternating current. In this world already a constant voltage constant frequency single phase and three phase AC readily available. For some applications it is needed to have variable voltage and variable frequency for this conversions need between dc and ac sources and this conversion can be carried out by power converters. For converting AC–AC cycloconverter are widely used as a converter. The ns of alternating current drives relates with the frequency (f) and number of poles (p) present in the induction motor. It is not feasible by changing the poles of a motor under running processes, so the only one way during running condition the frequency can be varied. In the absence of direct current (DC) link with constant voltage constant frequency alternating current to variable voltage variable frequency alternating current is needed to run the electric traction applications, so the cycloconverter will make this as possible with reliable and economical. This work explains how to control the speed of single phase induction motor and single phase to single phase Cycloconverter using different frequency conversions with R Load was carried out using MATLAB / Simulink.
