Tring Team Parish Profile for part time Team Vicar 2016 Tring Team Parish General Information Summary The Tring Team Parish consists of five churches on the edge of the Chilterns. Tring itself is a market town of 14,000 with the church of St Peter and St Paul, and there are four village churches: All Saints, Long Marston; St Cross, Wilstone; St Mary’s, Puttenham; and St John the Baptist, Aldbury, all of which have a modern liberal outlook, but worship in a wide range of styles. As a parish we have been working with Tring School over a number of years as a central part of our mission. The school has 1,500 students of whom very few come from a worshipping background. This puts us in an interesting place where there is genuine crossover between the church and the secular world, with new insights and challenges coming from this dynamic. This is central to our mission and we are working out how to engage with new families whilst keeping faith with those who have grown up in the church. We are located in the Chilterns in an area of outstanding natural beauty, where Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire meet as the Chiltern Hills merge into the Vale of Aylesbury. The A41 links to the M25 eleven minutes away and the frequent train service Tring Station to Euston making the area a very successful and extremely buoyant residential location. There is much encouraging activity happening in our churches and many things to celebrate. NICKEY LINE GREENSPACE ACTION PLAN 2019 – 2024 Produced by: On behalf of: OVERVIEW Greenspace Action Plans Greenspace Actions Plans (GAPs) are map-based management plans which specify activities that should take place on a site over a stated period of time; these activities will help to deliver the agreed aspirations which the site managers and stakeholders have identified for that site. Public Engagement Engagement with stakeholders is at the centre of effective management planning on any site. An initial engagement period was held for five weeks in December 2017 and January 2018, to establish core aims and objectives for the site; these are reflected in Section 3. This plan has been produced for a second stage of engagement to enable stakeholders to comment on the proposed management actions for the site. Coordination with St Albans City & District Council As the Nickey Line leaves from Hemel Hempstead towards Redbourn, it crosses into the St Albans District Council (SADC) administrative area. A GAP is already in place for the St Albans section. The programme of works for the Dacorum section has been produced to complement the programme in the St Albans section. A coordinated approach will be taken wherever practical to deliver projects jointly to ensure continuity across the administrative boundary. From the Garden City Movement Onwards Utopianism in British Garden Cities Rick William Moerman Department of Human Geography Examiner: Mads Barbesgaard SGEM08 Supervisor: Anders Lund Hansen Spring 2020 2 Abstract With the publication of Garden Cities of To-Morrow in 1898, Ebenezer Howard gave the go-ahead to the Garden City Movement. Howard’s concept of the garden city arose from his anti-capitalist critiques. Many industrial cities in the United Kingdom were facing urbanization problems, leading to the working class living in terrible circumstances in the suburban areas. This process caused a poor quality of life, housing shortages, polluted air and water and a lack of access to nature. At the same time, the countryside lacked career opportunities and a lack of (cultural) amusement. Howard proposed the garden city as a new alternative to both ways of living. A garden city would have a green character and a blooming cultural life. Surrounding greenbelts and enough job opportunities would make the city self-sustainable. The reactions to Howard’s utopian ideas were mainly positive, leading to the construction of two garden cities in the United Kingdom. Letchworth and Welwyn Garden City were located close to London and offered a way of living as proposed by Howard. These projects were considered successful, leading to the establishment of the related New Town Movement. This movement eventually led to the creation of 28 new and self-sustaining towns all over the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, the two original garden cities had developed into rich commuter towns which had become too expansive for the working class population. -

Deposited by Messrs. Boulton Sons and Sandeman for the Cannon Brewery. Inventory compiled: LAccession 162] March 1968 D/ECb Introduction This collection consists of deeds incident to the conveyance of the vhole of the Hoddesdon Brewery and all its licensed houses in 1866 and titl e deeds of some of those houses and of others that were acquired later. The expansion of Hoddesdon Brewery dates from its purchase by William Whittingstall from Rene Briand in 1781. From that date til l his death in 1803, rfhittingstall systematically enlarged the brewery*s commercial outlets by buying up a number of public houses in the surrounding district. Messrs. John Christie and George Cathrow bought the property from Vhittingstall's executors and at the death of Cathrow in 1842 it was sold privately to a new partnership of Messrs. Peter Christie, John Back and Robert Hunt. After Peter Christie's death and when 3ack and Hunt had retired to their country estates, the firm was conveyed in 1866 to Charles Peter Christie. On his death in 1898 it was turned into a public company which 30 years later was absorbed by the Cannon Brewery of London, later controlled by Taylor, Valker and Co. and now by the Ind Coope combine. -

The Cheshunt Team covers the Anglican parishes of Cheshunt, Goffs Oak and Turnford and the Anglican/Methodist LEP at Waltham Cross. The Team serves a population of around 65,000. We are a Team Ministry with four churches each with its own Parochial Church Council. We also have a Team Council with members elected by the PCCs. Each Church has direct responsibility for its own mission, ministry and finances while working closely with the others to develop team wide support and initiatives. The current vacancy for a Team Vicar is for a priest to have pastoral responsibility for the Anglican ministry at Christ Church, Waltham Cross. The person will work closely with the Methodist Minister at this Single Congregation LEP and work across the Team Ministry in supporting the Mission and Outreach of the Church with a special responsibility for vulnerable groups within the community. Members of the public and other interested parties were invited to comment upon the latest proposed changes to the Plan and a number of supporting documents. The consultation followed the further hearing public sessions held by the Inspector between November 2020 and February 2021. The Council received approximately 670 responses to the consultation. These contained approximately 1,500 distinct representations on the documents and detailed proposed changes that were consulted upon. The Inspector has now given the go-ahead for the responses to be made public. The independent Programme Officer, who helps administer the Examination, has asked for the website to be updated so that people know that the representations are available to view and to add the following text: The Inspector will be reading and considering all the representations that have been submitted. -
