February 26, 2021 Amazon warehouse workers in Bessemer, Alabama are voting to form a union with the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU). We are the writers of feature films and television series. All of our work is done under union contracts whether it appears on Amazon Prime, a different streaming service, or a television network. Unions protect workers with essential rights and benefits. Most importantly, a union gives employees a seat at the table to negotiate fair pay, scheduling and more workplace policies. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE AND INVOCATION III. CITIZEN COMMENTS This is the time for citizens to comment on subject matters, not on the agenda within the jurisdiction of the Tulare City Council. The Council Members ask that you keep your comments brief and positive. Creative criticism, presented with appropriate courtesy, is welcome. The Council cannot legally discuss or take official action on citizen request items that are introduced tonight. This is also the time for citizens to comment on items listed under the Consent Calendar or to request an item from the Consent Calendar be pulled for discussion purposes. Comments related to general business/city manager items or public hearing items will be heard at the time the item is discussed or at the time the Public Hearing is opened for comment. In fairness to all who wish to speak, each speaker will be allowed three minutes, with a maximum time of 15 minutes per item, unless otherwise extended by Council. Please begin your comments by stating and spelling your name and providing your city of residence. IV. COMMUNICATIONS Communications are to be submitted to the City Manager’s Office 10 days prior to a Council Meeting to be considered for this section of the Agenda. In the days following I got to know the man who pulled the trigger, and I became his friend. How was I to know that this incident would shape my life forever? THEATER SUBDISTRICT COUNCIL, LDC Performance Measurement Report I. How efficiently or effectively has TSC been in making grants which serve to enhance the long- term viability of Broadway through the production of plays and small musicals? The TSC awards grants, among other purposes, to facilitate the production of plays and musicals. The current round, awarding over $2.16 million in grants for programs, which have or are expected to result in the production of plays or musicals, have been awarded to the following organizations: • Classical Theatre of Harlem $100,000 (2009) Evaluation: A TSC grant enabled the Classical Theatre of Harlem to produce Archbishop Supreme Tartuffe at the Harold Clurman Theatre on Theatre Row in Summer 2009. This critically acclaimed reworking of Moliere’s Tartuffe directed by Alfred Preisser and featuring Andre DeShields was an audience success. The play was part of the theater’s Project Classics initiative, designed to bring theater to an underserved and under-represented segment of the community. Marketing efforts successfully targeted audiences from north of 116th Street through deep discounts and other ticket offers. • Fractured Atlas $200,000 (2010) Evaluation: Fractured Atlas used TSC support for a three-part program to improve the efficiency of rehearsal and performance space options, gather useful workspace data, and increase the availability of affordable workspace for performing arts groups in the five boroughs. Software designers created a space reservation calendar and rental engine; software for an enhanced data-reporting template was written, and strategies to increase the use of nontraditional spaces for rehearsal and performance were developed. • Lark Play Development Center $160,000 (2010) Evaluation: Lark selected four New York playwrights from diverse backgrounds to participate in a new fellowship program: Joshua Allen, Thomas Bradshaw, Bekah Brunstetter, and Andrea Thome. -

A Bronx Tale Synopsis A Bronx Tale, a new musical set in the early 1960s, is based on the autobiographical play written by Chazz Palminteri. It tells the coming-of-age story of Calogero Anello, a young boy from a working class family who finds himself caught between his loving father and a charismatic mob boss. In Act One, Calogero witnesses Sonny, the mob boss, murdering someone right in front of his house on Belmont Avenue; Calogero covers for Sonny when questioned by the NYPD. Calogero’s father, Lorenzo, who is an MTA bus driver, wants to instill a strong sense of right and wrong in his son, but Calogero goes against his father’s wishes. After Sonny is released by the police with no charges against him, he takes Calogero under his wing and helps him get involved with the “glamorous” world of organized crime. Sometime later, Calogero is all grown up and a full prodigy of Sonny, but his father has no idea he has continued to see Sonny. Calogero has also developed a group of Italian- American friends that Sonny thinks is a bad influence over him and encourages Calogero to stick to his schoolwork. Calogero meets an African-American girl, Jane, on Webster Avenue which is a very different side of the Bronx than where Calogero lives. He asks his father for advice on what he should do when he and Jane go on a date. Calogero’s father doesn’t exactly approve of him going out with Jane because he is concerned for his son’s safety, considering the high racial tensions on the time period, but Lorenzo still gives him advice. -
