Ake enters her fifth year as head softball coach at Norfolk State University. She has compiled a record of 50-120-1 in four seasons, including a third-place finish in the 2001 MEAC tournament. Prior to coaching at NSU, Ake led a strong Western Branch High School softball program in Chesapeake from 1993-2000. There, her teams won Southeastern District championships from 1993-1996 and an Eastern Region title in 1993, when she was named the Virginian-Pilot's Coach of the Year. She went 134-51-1 in her stint with the Bruins. Ake came to the Southside of Hampton Roads after successful stints in Northern Virginia. She led Chantilly High School to a 62-10 record from 1989-91. Her teams won the Chris Ake district, region and state championships in 1990 and 1991. She was named the Northern Region Coach of the Year in 1990 and the Washington Post, state and U.S. South Region Coach of the Year in 1991. Ake started her softball coaching career at Fairfax High School, where her teams went 75-46 from 1976-83. Fairfax won the district championship in 1981 and the region championship in 1982. For her teams' successes, Ake was named the Northern Region Coach of the Year in 1982. Overall, Ake's high school coaching record was 270-107-1. Ake is a native of Richmond, Va. She earned her bachelor's degree in health and physical education in 1973 from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va., where she played basketball and was also a state and South Region lacrosse team honoree from 1971-73. Ake earned her master's degree in school administration from Virginia Tech in 1983. Jackie Magill Assistant Coach Jackie Magill is in her first season as an assistant coach on the NSU softball team. Most recently, she served as the assistant varsity coach at Lee-Davis High School in Mechanicsville, Va., since 2002 and has also been the head coach and manager for the Lady Aces 18-and-under American Softball Association (ASA) program in Mechanicsville for the last two seasons. Magill was a four-year standout pitcher at Maryland-Baltimore County from 1997-2000, earning Big South Conference Rookie of the Year honors in 1997. Magill pitched in an NCAA Regional in 2000 after helping UMBC capture the Northeast Conference title.

    VIRGINIA BEACH CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS COMMUNITY DIALOGUE RESULTS REPORT December 7, 2017 1 Virginia Beach City Public Schools - Community Dialogue #1 Results 1 TOC 3 INTRODUCTION 4 RESULTS 177 DEMOGRAPHICS INTRODUCTION On November 13 and 14, 2017, two Community Meetings were held to discuss and collect feedback from the community regarding an update to the division’s facility master plan. Participants were asked to fill out both an individual questionnaire and to participate in groups to fill out a group questionnaire. There were a total of 54 paper questionnaires, and 15 group questionnaires. The questionnaire was also made available for more than 2 weeks online so that community members who could not attend could provide feedback. There were a total of 3,663 online questionnaires completed. Cooperative Strategies would like to thank the students, staff, Board of Education, Facilities Steering Committee, and the community of the Virginia Beach City Public Schools for their commitment and dedication to the planning process.
