HALL OF FAME TO INDUCT SEVEN ON NOV. 22 The Twenty-Ninth Annual Hall of Fame dinner will be held Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015 at the Country House, East Haven. Scheduled for induction are: Josh Charboneau ’02, Keith Schlottman ’92, Tom LaCroix ’93, Coach Jerry Lembo, and Sara Chick ’03. David Brennan ’83 and Lance Horton ’88 will receive Distinguished Graduate Awards. Josh Charboneau was a four-year letter winner in and in his senior year set the school career scoring record with 1,454 points. He was named to the All-SCC Hammonasset Division Team in 2000, ’01, and ’02, and the All-Area and All-State Teams in 2002. At the conclusion of his senior year, he was selected to play in the L/LL Senior All-Star game. Josh also lettered as a pitcher on the team, losing only two games in his career. After graduation, Josh attended Gateway Community College, was named All-Conference Player of the Year, and was named a Division III Third Team Junior College All-American. At the end of the season, he was selected to play in the Division II/III, NJCAA Olympics against Antigua in the Caribbean Splash Tournament. Unfortunately, Josh injured his back in a serious car accident that ended his playing career. Presently, he is a coach in the East Haven Biddy Basketball League. Keith Schlottman was a three-year letterman in baseball and was captain in his senior year. With a .375 batting aver- age in his senior year, Keith was named to the All-Housatonic League Team and the All-State Team, and was selected to the New Haven Diamond Club All-Star Team. Keith earned two letters in football playing defensive back and wide receiver, and was a four-year letter winner in basketball, serving as captain in his senior year. He continued playing baseball after high school for 11 years in the West Haven Twilight League. After attending Quinnipiac University, Keith took a position at M.D. Health Plan in the Information Technology Field as a PC Specialist. He held similar positions at various institutions until 2003, when he joined the South Central Con- necticut Regional Water Authority as an IT Network Administrator, a position he presently holds.

Keith has been a volunteer coach in the Foxon Recreation League and Sal Tinari Biddy Basketball League. He resides in East Haven with his wife, Kimberly, and their two daughters, Kylie, 15, Samantha, 13, and their adopted niece Cait- lyn, 21.

Tom LaCroix was a four-year letterman in swimming, earning All-Housatonic League honors and All-State in 1991 and ’93. He was Co-Captain in his senior year and holds six school records (50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, 100- yard backstroke, 200 individual medley relay, 200 freestyle relay, and 400 freestyle relay). Tom also lettered in football and track. He was a defensive back and wide receiver and, in 1992, received the Iron Man Award. As Captain of the track team, Tom lettered four years, qualified for States in the 1600 meters, and was named team MVP in his senior year. In 1995, Tom served as a volunteer lifeguard in the Special Olympics World Games in New Haven and is presently an East Haven Little League coach. He is employed by Amtrak and is the local chairman of the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen, representing over 200 Amtrak Union brothers and sisters in , Massachusetts, New York, and Rhode Island. Tom resides in East Haven with his wife Tamra and his children Cameron, 8, and Mason. BENEVENTO AWARDED PITE SCHOLAR ATHLETE SCHOLARSHIP Jessica Benevento, Captain of the Basketball Team, was awarded the Dr. William Pite Scholar Athlete Scholar- ship and was named to the SCC All-Academic Team and All-Division Team. Jessica was a member of the Na- tional Honor Society, Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Winter Percussion, Jazz Band, Pit Band, and Drama Club. The New Haven Tap-Off Club named her a Scholar Athlete, and the Connecticut Association of Schools selected her for an arts recognition award. Ranked 17th in the senior class, Jessica is attending Western Connecti- cut State University, where she will major in Music Education. BROWN AWARDED ACQUARULO SCHOLARSHIP Connor Brown, son of Cynthia Ryan Brown ’84, is the recipient of the Acquarulo Family Foundation Scholar- ship. He was Captain of the Team, a member of the Columbian Squires, Circle #4853, Our Lady of Pom- peii Leap of Faith Youth Group, member of the Media Club, and a member of the National Honor Society. Con- nor was ranked 9th in the senior class and is presently attending Wentworth Institute of Technology, majoring in Computer Engineering. CHANFRAU AWARDED WARNER SCHOLARSHIP Melanie Chanfrau, recipient of the Robert and Frances Healy Warner Scholarship, has been a volunteer for the past three years on the Pediatric Oncology and Hematology wards at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She served as historian of the Medical Club, HOSA, and has helped raise funds for breast cancer and the Leukemia and Lym- phoma Society. Melanie ranked in the top 20 percent of the senior class and is attending the University of St. Joseph, majoring in Nursing. FIRST VITALE SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED The first Albert and Teresa Parlato Vitale Scholarships were awarded to Corinne Palmer and Wesley Piche. Corinne, daughter of Glenn Palmer ’83, was Captain, MVP, and All-Oronoque Division Volleyball Team, as well as serving as Class President. She was a member of ROPES and SADD and received the St. Michael’s College Book Award. Corinne was ranked 19th in her class and is attending Lasell College, majoring in Early Childhood Education. Wesley will attend Porter and Chester Institute, where he will pursue a career in Automotive Technology. The Vitales, both EHHS graduates, have been instrumental in the EHHS Alumni Association leadership. Their inaugural scholarships were funded by generous donations in memory of Al Vitale ’50, who served as the or- ganization’s assistant treasurer and who passed away earlier this year. All memorial donations were matched by the family. Teresa Vitale ’54 serves as the association’s secretary. NARRACCI SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED TO KABEL Michelle Kabel, recipient of the Stephen Narracci Scholar/Athlete Scholarship, was Captain and a four-year member of the Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track Teams. As SCC Scholar Athlete, she received the Har- vard Book Award and the South Central Area Superintendents’ Association Award and also served as Historian of the National Honor Society. Michelle was ranked 3rd in the graduating class and is currently attending Fair- field University. THREE RECEIVE DiLUNGO FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP Samantha Marquardt, Martin Lendroth, and Michael Falanga* were recipients of DiLungo Family Schol- arships. Marquardt was a member of the indoor and outdoor track teams, a member of the Honor Society, a member of a competitive dance team, and received the Son of the American Revolution Outstanding Citizenship Award. Samantha ranked 15th in her class, graduating with distinction, and is attending the University of Connecticut, majoring in Nursing. Lendroth, son of Martin and Kim O’Malley Lendroth (’81/’86), was Captain of the hockey team, recipient of the Hobey Baker Character Award, an East Haven Food Pantry volunteer, and organized beach clean-ups after the 2012 and 2013 hurricanes. IN RETROSPECT 1946 – Playing under the lights at Hammer Field on a rainy and windy evening, the passing combination of Bob Mischler to Jim Murphy led Branford to victory, 21-7. On Thanksgiving Day, Augie Perrotti’s pass to Charlie Finnegan sparked the Easties to a 12-6 upset win. 1958 – Bob Vetrone was named All-State in basketball and baseball. He became the second East Haven athlete to earn All State honors in two different sports. 1962 – Louis Villa won the Harvard Book Award. 1965 – East Haven’s dream backfield of Chuck Sizemore, Bob Miranda, Ron Parisi, and Mike Zito ran wild as the Easties crushed Branford on Thanksgiving Day, 42-0. 1967 - Michael Zito and Sandra Welter received the All-Around Boy and Girl Awards. 1972 - Marianne Lonardo was named valedictorian of the graduating class. Mark Perrelli was named a scholar-athlete by the New Haven Chapter of the National Football Foundation. 1974 - Bob Frione, Rich Villeau, and Joe Verboski were named to the All-Housatonic Football Team. 1976 - The Easties posted an 18-0 league record, 20-2 overall, and won their 10th Housatonic League Bas- ketball Championship. 1977 - John Harkinson, Frank Savinelli, and Joe Streeto were named to the All-Housatonic Football Team. The Physical Education Club conducted a swimming and basketball marathon for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, raising a total of $3,981. 1981 - Sue Finer set two school records in swimming with times of 1:13.9 (100-yard breaststroke) and 2:30 (200 IM). 1985 - The Hockey Team won the Housatonic League Championship. Anthony DiLungo, Greg Harney, and Fred Aitro were named to the All-Housatonic Hockey Team. 1988 - Gabe Santarcangelo was named to the All-Housatonic and All-State Baseball Teams. 1990 - Michael Camera was named Register Youth of the Year. 1997 - Jason DaCosta was named to the All-State Track Team in the javelin. 2001 - Joe Glenn was named to the All-State Football Team for the second consecutive year.

EASTIES CAPTURE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

The Softball Team, coached by Ed Crisafi ’70, de- feated Fitch High School 4-2 to win the Class L State Championship last June. Allie Luzzi, daughter of Bart Luzzi ’89, was named the MVP. The Easties completed the season with a 19-7 record. This was the second state softball championship for the EHHS team, which previously won the LL title in 1984.

Austin Lieto, Francesca Amici, and Joseph Peterson were recipients of the Alumni Association Scholarships. Lieto is the son of Romeo and Su- san Esposito Lieto, ’78/’82, and the grandson of Anthony and Barbara Bennett Esposito 50/52. Amici is the daughter of Frank and Denise Consiglio Amici, ’83/’84. Peterson is the son of Joseph Peterson Sr. ’85. Lieto was Captain of the Outdoor Track Team and lettered in Indoor Track, and Cross Country. He was named an SCC Scholar Athlete, a CAPT Scholar and an AP Scholar, as well as being a member of the Math League, Creative Media Club, and Jazz Band. He was the recipient of the Princeton Alumni Associa- tion Book Award and Wells College Book Award and graduated with distinction. Austin ranked 5th in the graduating class and is attending Bentley University, majoring in General or Corporate Finance. Amici was a member of HOSA, the Library Student Advisory Board, the Science Club, and National Honor Society. Francesca recorded 120 hours of community service and received the CT COLT Award for Excellence and the Mount Holyoke Book Award. She ranked 6th in the senior class and is attending the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Peterson was a member of the Jazz and Marching Bands, SADD, ROPES, National Honor Society, Unified Sports, and a Board of Education student representative. Joe received the St. Michael’s Book Award, was a CAPT scholar and a member of the golf team. He was ranked 11th in the graduating class and is attending the University of Florida, majoring in Biological Engineering.

Sue Stacey ’69 was named East Haven Courier Person of the Week last December for volunteer efforts. Claire LaPia Criscuolo ’69, owner of Basta Trattoria in New Haven, celebrated the 10th anniversary of the res- taurant last December 31. Claire’s late husband Frank started the restaurant 10 years ago. Pat Paulson ’70 was inducted into the Southern Connecticut Diamond Club Hall of Fame last October. Eldo Bagnoli ’70 is the new head coach of football at Columbia University. Ed Ardito ’71 referee the Music City Bowl last December, won by Notre Dame 31 over LSU 28. Robert Purcell ’79 is a manufacturing tooling engineer at CableConn in San Diego, Calif. Michael Narracci ’81, Coordinating Director of Boston Red Sox Baseball for NESN, was awarded an Emmy by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for live directing last May at the annual New England Em- my Awards at the Mariott Hotel in Boston. This is the fifth time he has won this award. John Frisco ’82, owner of Frisco’s Pizza, won first prize at the East Haven Chamber of Commerce East Shore Pizza Challenge last February. For his efforts, John was named East Haven Courier Person of the Week. David Brennan ’83 was named East Haven Courier Person of the Week last November for his volunteer work in the community. Eileen Parlato ’83, Battalion Chief of the East Haven Fire Department, celebrated 21 years with the department last December. Ed Sabatino ’86 was named East Haven Courier Person of the Week last January. Ed was a volunteer baseball and basketball coach. He interned at WPLR and later was program director at KC101. Robert Narracci ’86 and his wife Gena were honored by the New Haven Preservation Trust with the House Preservation Award for restoring the 1895 Moritz Spier House on Orange Street. Teresa DeMilo Longley ’87 is the Product Line Director of PC Connection. Nikki Travaglino ’87 is a realtor at the William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty. Frank Ralston ’88 is the owner of Creative Sportswear, North Haven. Lance Horton ’88 received the Mayor’s Merit Award last September. Pat Aqaro ’89 is the Director of Golf at MDM GOLF. Bart Luzzi ’89 is a Tech Ops Manager at Cove Informatics. Michael Bizzario ’91 is head of Business Development at Alpha Pipe Inc. Kathleen Brody ’95, an attorney in Phoenix Ariz., was selected President of the Arizona Attorneys for Criminal Justice, a statewide not-for-profit organization of criminal defense lawyers, law students, and associated profes- sional dedicated to protecting the rights of the criminally accused. Arthur Vitello ’97 featured his paintings at the Stamford Art Association last July. He received a BFA from Paier College of Arts, where he was honored with an award in Outstanding Achievement in painting. Michael Arachambault ’99 was named East Haven Courier Person of the Week last November. Michael is a technology teacher at the EH Academy. Heather Baber ’00 was named East Haven Courier Person of the Week last December for her involvement with SARAH. Josh Charboneau ’02 was named East Haven Courier Sports Person of the Week last May. He will be inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame in November. Lou Revellini ’03 was named East Haven Courier Sports Person of the Week last December. Lou was named coach of the EHHS Wrestling Team. Stephanie Marino ’10 received a B.A. in psychology from Quinnipiac University, June 2014. Gabriella DiNuzzio ’10 received a B.A. in political science and public policy from UConn, June 2014. Eric Salgado ’10 was named East Haven Courier Person of the Week last May. Eric was the recipient of the 2015 Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Fellowship Amber Pantalena ’10 received a B.S. in cognitive science from UConn, June 2014. Richard Sandman ’10 received a B.A. in English from UConn, June 2014. Elliot Schneer ’10 received a B.S. in mechanical engineering and math from UConn, June 2014. Eric Salgado ’10 was awarded a 2015 Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Fellowship. He worked for a mem- ber of Congress last summer, and in summer of 2016, he will work at a U.S. Embassy. Megan Butler ’11 was East Haven Courier Sports Person of the Week last December. Megan is the youngest- ever coach of the Pom Pom Squad. Kevin Hoil ’11 was named East Haven Courier Person of the Week last April. Steven Hennessey ’11 received a B.S. degree in chemical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute last May. Steven was the recipient of the Acquarulo Family Foundation Scholarship. Vin Guglietti ’11, Quinnipiac University senior first baseman, was named to the First Team All-MAAC and NEI- BA Division I All-New England Second Team. Nicholas DeFillppo ’11 received a B.S. degree in chemical engineering with distinction from Worcester Poly- technic Institute last May. Nicholas was a recipient of the Alumni Association Scholarship. DestinyCoward ’14, a freshman on the SCSU Track Team was named NE-10 field Rookie of the Year. Eddie Crisafi was selected as the New Haven Register Coach of the Year for softball.
