Warminstsr 3017 DEDICATION ' Truth is the most precious Jewel in the whole Crown of Creation. Peace is the fairest Flower in the Universe, each petal beyond price. Love is the most valuable of Ornaments, which should adorn every Household, every Hearth and every Heart.' With gratitude and affection, the Author dedicates this serious work on the most important subject he knows to People of this Earth and other Planets who are genuinely concerned for the continuing safety, welfare and evolutionary progress of everyone in a vast and ever-changing Universe that gives us our homes. To my fellow researchers Bob and Sybil, two faithful and tireles? observers during cold and lonely hours on Cradle Hill, my special thanks also. May our combined efforts not be in vain ! It is therefore of paramount urgency to prepare ourselves, äs sensibly äs possible, for any sudden emergency arising in the near future. Many portents, stränge and bewildering, have already manifested in our skies since the year 1947, reflected by dynamic thought that ripples through the minds of a discerning portion of Humanity, and transfuses emotion into other hearts hitherto barren and unresponsive to finer aspects of Life and its Purpose. These aerial phenomena could well prove warning forerunners of significant events whose world-wide impact will fully be feit in the course of the next few years. We live in an unsafe and unpredictable period fraught with hidden dangers. Crisis point might easily be reached much sooner than most people expect. This is an ugly and war-torn age where the threat of physical ex-tinction by misapplied and misused thermo-nuclear devices is a frightening possibility lurking around several hostile corners, waiting to pounce on the unprotected. Oil is often poured on troubled waters, tempers mount and opposing political doctrines of major world powers mouth glib phraseology to placate public anxiety after each experimental detonation. If we dare assume that more progressive and enlightened societies flourish elsewhere in an enormous Universe., they must surely have learned at least one vital Jesson in the Power Garne: Working in harmony with Nature brings an end product of peace and plenty; whereas mastery gained by Splitting the atom and harnessing solar energy is short-lived and ill-fated if employed in contradiction to wise designing influences of Nature, by recourse to destructive outlets for such powerful forces. Accumulated evidence favours the undeniable existence of extra-terrestrials. One can reasonably deduce that they have advanced farther along highways of service and byways of usefulness by virtue of successfully surmounting dangers inherent in the penultimate 9 WARNINGS FROM FLYING FRIENDS type of technological phase now confronting our planet, perhaps millenia ago. They are bound to be more than mildly concerned over the future of a planet arriving at a crossroad pockmarked with potential perils for the unwary and unaware. Hence their advent in celestial chariots into our native atmosphere at this crucial time. Yet there may be underlying reasons of even greater magnitude. No rational person on Earth would reject the clear fact that fearful fuses awaiting ignition are supercharged with colossal menace to our current civilization, if detonated by the folly of tragic misunderstanding or precipitate action. Touchpapers lit by human agencies of ill-founded suspicion, fear and hostility could spread a consuming fire around the whole of the Earth's envelope and decimate all life. There may be signposts and warning notices that we, in materialistic blindness, do not see or choose to ignore in complacent unwisdom. Man individually may still cherish ideals of happy family relationships, fairly high Standards of conventional and ethical behaviour. He may be a strong advocate of helping neighbours in adversity, clinging with commendable tenacity to Statutes of brotherly love, which is genuine concern for all no matter what their skin colour, politics, creed, nationality or circumstances in life. Structures of moral stability and spiritual balance, however, are gradually sinking into the mire of forgetfulness and neglect when one views Man collectively. Unfortunately, he is the same destructive animal who cunningly preaches peace while fostering hatred, suspicious and unrelenting even in face of the pitiful plight of starving children in undeveloped regions of his planet. No single power or combination of powers can break this strangle-hold on Humanity, thus overcoming the three main retrogressive influences in our world today—war, hunger and disease. Man has his priorities all wrong and is reverting to prehistoric measures stem-ming from unnatural fears and clashing ideologies. Ancient Man was in the unforgivable habit of killing, but there was more excuse then for his actions, enforced because of sheer self-preservation against wild and primitive forces surrounding him. There is no excuse today ! Wealth deposits and accumulations from his natural environs, his geological and mineralogical excavations, are squandered by Man today on blatantly bad causes at the expense 10 FOREWORD of measures to further true progress of Humanity and humanitarian principles. This is grievous truth we cannot dispute. Somewhere along the tortuous trail to adult thinking and behaviour, Man has lost his way and very purpose in life. His mind is clouded by cobwebs of mis-apprehension and doubt, by fears and phobias that should not clog enlightened minds seeking higher aspirations in the journey to reach the stars . I hope this book may assist in redirecting faltering footsteps, groping minds, lost incentives to better living, back to sanity and life that should be a richly rewarding experience for all. Flying friends from other sectors of the Universe are surely trying to guide us at a worrying juncture in human affairs on a Planet of Strengthening. Most strongly, I feel that we should offer them this Chance of aiding us. We require wise guidance and direction nowadays. For the golden prospect of a Heaven on Earth we hope to earn when present troubles and tribulations draw to a welcome close, it is worth taking a speculative risk, a mild gamble which could easily come off with benefits to us in golden dividends of supreme happiness. The conclusions I draw at the end of this work are my own. My skywatching team-mates, Bob Strong and Sybil Champion, may not necessarily concur with all that I write. However, they have supported me all the way in our physical and practical approach to the enigma our flying friends and their incredible machines constitute. If ever a third book develops from my pen, their own conclusions will appear. If one accepts the feasibility of unidentified flying objects, then it can readily be seen that the System of propulsion which they employ, and their reasons for visiting us, seem to be more and more strongly linked. Here are a few preliminary thoughts for the scientific to muH over on the fascinating theme of' What Makes Them Tick ? ' For a long time it has been said, written, quoted and recorded that, of all the numerous testimonies of colour changes—so character-istic of UFOs—none indicates anything beyond something we can all associate äs arising from electrical phenomena. This is fairly obvious to anyone closely studying these machines. There are many cases, also on record, of television sets, radios, radar, other electrical appliances and compasses being seriously upset by UFOs. Indeed, it has been soberly suggested—and it is acceptable —that the great power failure in the United States of America a couple 11 WARNINGS FROM FLYING FRIENDS of years ago was caused by UFOs ' tripping' the switches over. Therefore, it is apparent that celestial chariots show colour changes connected with electrical-magnetic phenomena. They are also known to affect adversely the appliances and apparatus we use in our homes and laboratories. Yet, in looking at the picture in broadest terms, what do we really know about the Earth, the planets of our Solar System, the Galaxy in which we live, and the immense Universe ? We know that the Earth has a central magnetic fluid or liquid core content. We are acquainted with the shape of the magnetic field of the Earth. Moreover, we also realise that there is a Universal magnetic field; and that this field is linked in with ours and those of the other planets.
