3 7 3 What You Should Know When June 2016 Alpha Lambda Omega Chapter Monthly Newsletter Volume 3, Issue 6 What You Should Know When Inviting a Soror to a Reactivation Event As Pearl Jam is one of our chapter’s annual reactivation events, all visitors must be properly vetted. In order to properly vet inactive sorors who will attend, we must diligently enforce the following procedures: An invited soror must bring: 1. A current or past financial card 2. A copy of her original membership certificate signed by the corporate office 3. A receipt/certificate from a Cluster meeting, regional conference, Boule, or leadership meeting that contains her name 4. A copy of an old or current Ivy Leaf 5. An official status letter from our corporate office What you must do If you invited an inactive soror to Pearl Jam, you must: 1. Properly vet the invited soror ASAP 2. Be present at the time the visiting soror signs-in Denim & White Day Affair 3 Questions? While there is no cure for sickle cell disease, all newborns in the United States are now being tested for the disease. 4 PearlVIsion | June 2016 Launching New Dimensions of Service Environmental Ownership COMMUNITY IMPACT DAY 1908 Playground Mobilization The Environmental Ownership Committee wishes to thank everyone who participated at the 2016 Community Impact Day for 1908 Playground Mobilization. Your support made the event a huge success. For the second year, we partnered with the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club on Milton Road. Due to the inclement weather, we implemented our “Rainy Day Plan”. We had a total of 32 Sorors and five Community Volunteers to participate. During our four hours at the center, we: Cleaned and organized the main recreation room; computer lab; two homework centers; a craft area and multiple storage areas Used donated items to create game centers, a reading center and a craft center Invited the neighborhood kids, who use the center and the playground, to come midway through the project to play games and be entertained Collaborated with the Family Strengthening Committee to provide pizza, chips and drinks for the neighborhood children and their families The day of service was enjoyed by all. We knew it was a success when the neighborhood children said, “When are you coming back again? We had a great time!” Educational Enrichment DONATE TO THINK HBCU TODAY! The meeting was called to order by Soror Kelly Dargins, Basileus, at 11:05 AM. Soror Dargins greeted everyone and said Daylight Saving Time begins, do not forget to set your clocks up one hour. Some sorors are attending the Boule Planning meeting and will be sending updates of importance. Soror Dargins will share the information before meeting ends today. The meditation was given by Soror Hattie Murphy, ‘Fruit of the Spirit’ continues.
