It was a time when the films of the “silent” age were left behind to gather dust as “talkies” took over. Also left behind was one-time silent film star Norma Desmond. She now spends her days dreaming of an era gone by in a house that doubles as her prison. Enter charming screenwriter Joe Gillis, and everything changes - giving Norma a renewed sense of love and hope. Andrew Lloyd Webber was inspired to write Sunset Boulevard after seeing the 1950 film, but no one could have predicted how brilliantly this tragic story would translate to the stage.
