Our local bar was a gothic church made over into a rock and roll nightmare called The Limelite. The club was run by a gang of modern day pirates with Nicky D its patron saint. In a genre so closely associated with gender representation, especially misogynistic sexual violence against women, this franchise serves as a case study in an alternative female gaze applied to a notoriously problematic form of media. The series arose as a satire of the genre from an explicitly feminist lesbian source only to be mediated through the exploitation horror production model, which emphasized female nudity and violence. The resulting films both implicitly and explicitly address feminist themes such as lesbianism, trauma, sexuality, and abuse while adhering to misogynistic genre requirements. La Biennale di Venezia / 77th Venice International Film Festival American director Abel Ferrara awarded the Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Filmmaker 2020 prize His new film Sportin’ Life to be presented Out of Competition La Biennale di Venezia and Jaeger-LeCoultre are pleased to announce that the American director Abel Ferrara (Pasolini, Bad Lieutenant, King of New York) is the recipient of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Filmmaker award of the 77th Venice International Film Festival (September 2 - 12, 2020), dedicated to a personality who has made a particularly original contribution to innovation in contemporary cinema. PRESSRELEASE DIRECTOR ABEL FERRARA (Bad Lieutenant) PRESENTS HIS LATEST FILM TOMMASO AND BELGIAN BANDS ON THE SECOND EDITION OF THE BRUSSELS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL Abel Ferrara, known for Bad Lieutenant (1992) and The King of New York (1990), is invited during the second edition of the BRIFF for a meeting and will be honoured with a selection from his large oeuvre, including his latest film Tommaso (2019). The American director started making films when he was still in high school and directed his first feature film, 9 Lives of a Wet Pussy (1967), when he was only 25 years old. In the films that followed, he explored different themes that were strongly connected to the city of New York such as The Driller Killer (1979), Christmas (2001), The Funeral (1996), China Girl (1987) and The Addiction (1995), nominated for the Golden Bear at the Berlinale in 1995. Synopsis One day, one life. Rome, the night of November 2nd 1975, the great Italian poet and filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini is murdered. Pasolini is the symbol of an art that’s fighting against power. His writings are scandalous, his films are persecuted by the censors, many people love him and many hate him. The day of his death, Pasolini spends his last hours with his beloved mother and later on, with his dearest friends, before finally going out into the night in his Alfa Romeo in search of adventure in the Eternal City. At dawn, Pasolini is found dead on a beach in Ostia on the outskirts of the city. In a film dreamlike and visionary, a blend of reality and imagination, Abel Ferrara reconstructs the last day in the life of this great poet with frequent collaborator Willem Dafoe as Pier Paolo Pasolini. Un thriller a basso budget che riprende l’idea del film d’esordio di Ferrara: la follia che spinge un uomo a uccidere ripetutamente. L’angelo della vendetta racconta della sarta muta Thana che è vittima, nel giro di poche ore, prima di una violenza carnale, poi di un tentativo di rapina. Dopo aver ucciso il secondo aggressore con un ferro da stiro e averne fatto a pezzi il cadavere, comincia a eliminare ogni uomo che le capita a tiro. Secondo film diretto daAbel Ferrara (il primo vero lungometraggio, The Driller Killer, del 1979, non arrivò mai nelle sale italiane), L’angelo della vendetta (Mrs. 45) venne distribuito nel 1981 e si rivelò una piacevole sorpresa. Un thriller a basso budget che riprendeva l’idea del film d’esordio di Ferrara (la follia che spinge un uomo a uccidere ripetutamente). Qui però la protagonista era una giovane donna, Thana (interpretata dalla diciottenne Zoe Tamerlis). Una spruzzata di erotismo (sul quale anche la splendida ma ingannevole locandina puntava non poco), non particolarmente accentuato comunque e di certo tutt’altro che eccitante, spinse alcuni addetti ai lavori a tentare paragoni con un paio di film di Brian De Palma, segnatamente Vestito per uccidere (uscito l’anno precedente) e Le due sorelle. In entrambi i casi, problemi psichici con slittamenti nelle patologie legate alla sessualità. Non a caso, forse, nel 1984 sia De Palma che Ferrara dirigeranno Melanie Griffith ancora in due mistery di matrice sexy, rispettivamente Omicidio a luci rosse (Body Double) e Paura su Manhattan (Fear City). -

For example, it can be given in RNA copies per milliliter of blood plasma. Determination of viral load is part of the therapy monitoring during chronic viral infections, and in immunocompromised patients such as those recovering from bone marrow or solid organ transplantation. Currently, routine testing is available for HIV-1, cytomegalovirus, hepatitis B virus, and hepatitis C virus. HIV viral load test Several different HIV viral load tests have been developed, and three are currently approved for use in the US: • Amplicor HIV-1 Monitor test (Hoffman-La Roche), better known as the PCR test • NucliSens HIV-1 QT, or NASBA (bioMerieux) • Versant/Quantiplex HIV-1 RNA, or bDNA (Chiron/Bayer) These tests have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration in the United States for use in monitoring the health of people with HIV, in conjunction with other markers. These tests are also approved for monitoring the effects of anti-HIV therapy, to track viral suppression and detect treatment failure.
