ISSN NO.: 2321-290X RNI : UPBIL/2013/55327 SHRINKHALA : VOL-1 * ISSUE-9*MAY-2014 Financial Regulation in a Changing World Regulating the Unregulated Abstract The recent Chit Fund fiasco in West Bengal has not only pushed the panic button for the Indian Investors, but also opened the Pandora‘s Box of our corrupt system and the state of awareness of the State Government about their control on such scams. This is a case in which all the three parties are to be blamed equally – the Investors, the System or the Government and the investment Agencies. Though the issue of cheating and fraud came to light because of Saradha fiasco in West Bengal, Odisha is not far behind in any sense. "Chit funds in India are governed by the Chit Funds Act, 1982. Under this Act, the chit fund businesses can be registered and regulated only by the respective State Governments". After such clarification from the Centre the affected states are now trying to revamp the wound of ill fated investors of their states. No one is giving a fair solution to prevent the chit fund scams. Also no one is trying to find out the root cause of such scams. As a result the investors are in dark about the refund of their funds. It is going to be treated as a combined failure of state as well as country. Expectation of easy money return in short time, fake success stories by the agents of such companies motivate the illiterate rural people to invest in the chit funds. The poor literacy in rural areas gives a wide dimension for the fraud chit fund companies for growth.

  • Magnetism, Dynamo Action and the Solar-Stellar Connection
Living Rev. Sol. Phys. (2017) 14:4 DOI 10.1007/s41116-017-0007-8 REVIEW ARTICLE Magnetism, dynamo action and the solar-stellar connection Allan Sacha Brun1 · Matthew K. Browning2 Received: 23 August 2016 / Accepted: 28 July 2017 © The Author(s) 2017. This article is an open access publication Abstract The Sun and other stars are magnetic: magnetism pervades their interiors and affects their evolution in a variety of ways. In the Sun, both the fields themselves and their influence on other phenomena can be uncovered in exquisite detail, but these observations sample only a moment in a single star’s life. By turning to observa- tions of other stars, and to theory and simulation, we may infer other aspects of the magnetism—e.g., its dependence on stellar age, mass, or rotation rate—that would be invisible from close study of the Sun alone. Here, we review observations and theory of magnetism in the Sun and other stars, with a partial focus on the “Solar-stellar connec- tion”: i.e., ways in which studies of other stars have influenced our understanding of the Sun and vice versa. We briefly review techniques by which magnetic fields can be measured (or their presence otherwise inferred) in stars, and then highlight some key observational findings uncovered by such measurements, focusing (in many cases) on those that offer particularly direct constraints on theories of how the fields are built and maintained. We turn then to a discussion of how the fields arise in different objects: first, we summarize some essential elements of convection and dynamo theory, includ- ing a very brief discussion of mean-field theory and related concepts.

  • Ashoke Kumar
Ashoke Kumar The boss's wife and leading actress of a leading Film Company runs off with her lead man. She is caught and taken back but not the lead man who is unceremoniously dismissed. So now the company needs a new hero. The boss decides his laboratory assistant would be the Film Company's next leading man. A bizzare film plot??? Hardly. This real life story starred the Bombay Talkies Film Company, it's boss Himansu Rai , lead actress Devika Rani and lead man Najam-ul-Hussain and last but not least its laboratory assistant Ashok Kumar. And thus began an extremely successful acting career that lasted six decades! Ashok Kumar aka Dadamoni was born Kumudlal Kunjilal Ganguly in Bhagalpur and grew up in Khandwa. He briefly studied law in Calcutta, then joined his future brother-in-law Shashadhar Mukherjee at Bombay Talkies as laboratory assistant before being made its leading man. Ashok Kumar made his debut opposite Devika Rani in Jeevan Naiya (1936) but became a well known face with Achut Kanya (1936) . Devika Rani and he did a string of films together - Izzat (1937) , Savitri (1937) , Nirmala (1938) among others but she was the bigger star and chief attraction in all those films. It was with his trio of hits opposite Leela Chitnis - Kangan (1939) , Bandhan (1940) and Jhoola (1941) that Ashok Kumar really came into his own. Going with the trend he sang his own songs and some of them like Main Ban ki Chidiya , Chal Chal re Naujawaan and Na Jaane Kidhar Aaj Meri Nao Chali Re were extremely popular! Ashok Kumar initiated a more natural style of acting compared to the prevaling style that followed theatrical trends.

  • Star Systems in the Solar Neighborhood up to 10 Parsecs Distance
Vol. 16 No. 3 June 15, 2020 Journal of Double Star Observations Page 229 Star Systems in the Solar Neighborhood up to 10 Parsecs Distance Wilfried R.A. Knapp Vienna, Austria [email protected] Abstract: The stars and star systems in the solar neighborhood are for obvious reasons the most likely best investigated stellar objects besides the Sun. Very fast proper motion catches the attention of astronomers and the small distances to the Sun allow for precise measurements so the wealth of data for most of these objects is impressive. This report lists 94 star systems (doubles or multiples most likely bound by gravitation) in up to 10 parsecs distance from the Sun as well over 60 questionable objects which are for different reasons considered rather not star systems (at least not within 10 parsecs) but might be if with a small likelihood. A few of the listed star systems are newly detected and for several systems first or updated preliminary orbits are suggested. A good part of the listed nearby star systems are included in the GAIA DR2 catalog with par- allax and proper motion data for at least some of the components – this offers the opportunity to counter-check the so far reported data with the most precise star catalog data currently available. A side result of this counter-check is the confirmation of the expectation that the GAIA DR2 single star model is not well suited to deliver fully reliable parallax and proper motion data for binary or multiple star systems. 1. Introduction high proper motion speed might cause visually noticea- The answer to the question at which distance the ble position changes from year to year.

We exploit an empirically calibrated method to estimate spectroscopic effective temperature (Teff) and the Stefan–Boltzmann law to determine radii of 183 nearby K7–M7 single stars with a precision of 2%–5%. Our improved stellar parameters enable us to develop model-independent relations between Teff or absolute magnitude and radius, as well as between color and Teff. The derived Teff–radius relation depends strongly on [Fe/H],as predicted by theory.
