AUFC Annual Report 19 51 200 AUFC Games - Tom Walker

200 games is a long time in football (even more so when you briefly retire) but importantly, it allows for a lot of opportunities to leave an impression, of which Tex has left many, the only question which is the most memorable.

For many it will be his Gunning Medal win in 2008, for others, his record holding stint as A Grade Captain, whilst some might just fondly remember him for some more simple things like his raking left leg exiting the defensive 50, his elite standards on the track, his fireman impression at the

Cumby or just the fact he proudly rode around town on his scooter.

But for me, he’ll forever be remembered as the man that brought out the quiche-eating Sean Rusling. Having to hear about his best mate for 4 years, yet only resulting in 8 games.

However it’s done, Tex’s legacy will be remember for years to come, and on the eve of his 200th game, chasing his 99th win, I wish him all the best in chasing his 2nd AUFC Flag!

AUFC Annual Report 19 59 200 AUFC Games - Anthony Vallelonga

200 game milestones don’t come around every week... In Vally’s case, it has been 200 games of total commitment. Few players have had the combined football and social impact on this club like he has. 200 games payed (130 of those won), 160 goals kicked (and Simon Tregenza said he couldn’t kick!) and 220+ votes. What the stats don’t show is Vally’s zest for the social heart of the club. He has been a constant face in the Hold Your Bowlies crowd, he was a long-standing member of the social committee, he brought many a guest along to some of the biggest and best Blacks Balls and has had a hand in some of the more key recruiting moves of the last decade; such is the popularity of this social butterfly.

Congratulations, Drop Bear, on 200 quality games and a wonderful contribution to our club!
