This study lists measures, funding and regulations to reduce it. The introduction of modern rolling stock will lower noise most significantly. In the short run, the replacement of cast iron by composite brake blocks on rail freight cars is most important. -

Seit 2013 laufen die Vorarbeiten, im Mai 2016 wird der maschi- nelle Vortrieb aufgenommen. Für drei Bauabschnitte sind Vereisungen geplant, um einen sicheren Vortrieb zu ermöglichen. Zudem ist der Tunnel Rastatt ein offizielles Building-Information-Modeling- Pilotprojekt (BIM) des deutschen Verkehrsministeriums. The Rastatt Tunnel A Key Project in Many Respects The Rastatt Tunnel is a key project in the European rail freight corridor A and passes under the town of Rastatt with a total length of 4,270 m. Preparatory works have been underway since 2013, and the mech- anised tunnel drive will start in May 2016. Ground freezing is planned for the three construction sections in order to enable safe tunnelling.
