College of Commerce and Economics affiliated to the University of Mumbai! It is our endeavour at H.R. College to provide high quality of education, and help accelerate the careers of all our students into successful professions and businesses. The college offers a variety of courses including five undergraduate commerce degrees, three add-on courses and a post graduate specialization in Business Management. From the AY 2011-2012 H.R. has two new offerings for the students - a Bachelor degree in Mass Dr. Indu Shahani Media and a Masters in Commerce with specialization in Accountancy. The academic year 2010-2011 has been an outstanding one with the students doing very well in their academics. At the University of Mumbai examinations H.R. College bagged 1st and 3rd rank at the TYBMS, 1st and 2nd rank at TYBAF and 3rd rank at TYBBI. H.R. College students also marked their presence with 8th, 9th and 11th rank at TYBCom examination. In extra curricular activities H.R. created history in the University of Mumbai by winning all five major inter-collegiate festivals in this academic year. The Under 19 cricket team won the T-20 1st Ionian Cricket Schools Tournament 2011 held at Corfu, Greece. Our focus centers on developing ethical leaders, inspiring entrepreneurial spirit within each student, and helping them gain a vision of what they can accomplish. Recently we have added a fourth area of emphasis: mastery in communication and critical thinking skills. We want our students to have the courage to experiment with bold, innovative ideas and to reach for the skies. We do hope the result is that we produce ‘Managers with a heart.’ H.R. has been amongst the first colleges in Mumbai to initiate strong industry-academia relations. Industry experts are regularly invited to come and share their business strategies and experiences. This interaction helps the students to keep abreast with the latest developments in the business sector which in turn equips them for their professional lives. Each year the best names in the corporate sector offer H.R. students internships and placements. We are also proud of our alumni who support the college at all times. lnternationalisation has become the focal point of the teaching learning process at H.R. The college leads the way in student and faculty exchange programs. This exposure helps the faculty to understand the best practices of leading institutions and incorporate them in their teaching methods. The students are offered scholarships and exchange programs from prestigious institutions like NYU Stern, USA and King’s College, UK. At the end of this year a student delegation visited New Jersey City University to interact and to understand the dynamics of the diverse economic markets. As the 110th Sheriff of Mumbai and as the Principal of H.R. College, I welcome you to this culture of excellence and to the strategic planning and decision making that support excellence as we propel ourselves to be an engine of growth for the student community, the nation, and the world. College magazine “Voyager” after the glittering celebrations of the golden jubilee of this iconic college of our board. H.R. College under the dynamic leadership of Principal Dr. lndu Shahani has laid strong emphasis not only on academic progress of the students but also on development of their character, through extra curricular activities with the objective of inculcating values of social service. I am sure the distinguished students of H.R. College will continue to work with great passion towards a successful future and bring pride to our country. ABOUT THE PRESIDENT Mr. Kishu H. Mansukhani, Trustee, HSNC Board, is the current President of Hyderabad (Sind) National Collegiate Board. He has been associated with the Board since May 1974 and is committed to excellence in higher education. After completing his studies in Mechanical Engineering, and Management in the USA, Mr. Mansukhani returned to India as he was selected for a senior position in the newly created Export Department of Telco (Tata Motors).
