Our current performance against Goal # 3: Cisco College is the # 2 ranked college in Texas in terms of student success. Goal #4: Cisco College will achieve an above median ranking in fall term to fall term retention of non-graduating students Cisco College had a below median retention rate for full-time students among mid-size Texas colleges for the 2012 academic, but we raised that rate to above median for the 2013 academic year. Our retention rate for part time students was above median for 2012 and 2013. The rankings referred to in our goals are determined based on the following measures of student success and student retention: Student Success Measures Measure 1: Percent % total academic students employed and/or enrolled Measure 2: Percent % total technical students employed and/or enrolled Measure 3: Licensure rates Measure 4: Average time to associate degree Measure 5: Average semester credit hours (SCH) attempted to obtain associate degree Measure 6: Rate of transfers to 4 year universities Measure 7: Math Texas Success Initiative (TSI) obligation met by developmental education students Measure 8: Completed college math course (developmental education students) Measure 9: Reading TSI obligation met by developmental education students Measure 10: Completed college reading course (developmental education students) Measure 11: Writing TSI obligation met by developmental education students Measure 12: Completed college writing course (developmental education students) Measure 13: Developmental education student graduation rate Measure 14: Non-development education student graduation rate Measure 15: Completed college math course (non, developmental education students) Measure 16: Completed college reading course (non, developmental education students) Measure 17: Completed college writing course (non developmental education students) Measure 18: Percent % earned baccalaureate in4 years or less by dual credit students Measures of Student Retention: Measure 1: Full time student retention rate Measure 2: Part time student retention rate Our ranking methodology: Our ranking methodology is based on the "Olympic Medal Ranking Scheme" wherein a point value of 1 is assigned to a first place rank, 2 points to second place, 3 points to 3rd place, etc. The competitor with the lowest number of total points wins. We applied this scheme to certified comparative data provided by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board in the Texas Public Higher Education Almanac to calculate aggregate rankings of medium sized Texas colleges and all colleges statewide. We are analyzing the THECB employment rate data for our technical students because it doesn't correspond with our in-house data which indicates a higher employment rate. Note 2 - It is our intent over the longer term to include comparative data for all 18 student achievement measures in our rankings. At present, the Texas Higher Ed Coordinating Board does not provide comparative data in an easily accessible form for measures 3,15,16 and 17. When comparative data becomes available for these measures, we will include it in our rankings. Our cursory examination indicates that inclusion of these additional measures will not result in significant changes to the overall rankings. Note 3 - Our below average graduation rate for non-developmental education students may be attributable to students taking courses at Cisco College before moving on to one of the 3 excellent private universities in Abilene. Private universities are not required to report graduation rates to the state.
