Field Set for Under Armour® / Vicky Hurst Championship PGA Golf Club will host strong field of 78 contenders

BRASELTON, Ga. –PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Fla., is set to host the 2011 Under Armour® / Vicky Hurst Championship, April 29-May 1. In all, 78 players will vie for the championship in an event that includes four Rolex Junior All-Americans and nine juniors who have signed National Letters of Intent to continue their golf careers at the next level. West Palm Beach, Fla., residents Sawyer Shaw and Chase Koepka are the highest-ranked boys in the field at No. 46 and 68, respectively. Shaw, a 2010 honorable mention Rolex Junior All-American has tallied six top-10 junior golf finishes in his AJGA career and contended at the HP Boys Junior Championship at Carlton Woods in February. Koepka also earned Rolex Junior All-America honors last year thanks to a second-place finish at the Burgett H. Mooney, Jr. Rome Classic. In the Girls Division, Yu Liu of Beijing, China, will enter the tournament with two AJGA titles to her name. In 2010 she captured victories at the TEE UP Junior Challenge presented by the Kamen Rider Dragon Knight Cup and the Killington Junior Golf Championship. She is currently ranked No. 26 in the Polo Golf Rankings. Simin Feng of Orlando, Fla., comes into the tournament as the 48th-ranked player in the Polo Golf Rankings. Feng is a two-time Rolex Junior All-American who has raised an AJGA trophy in each of the last four years. Most notably was her win at the 2009 ANNIKA Invitational. The tournament practice round will be a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start on Friday, April 29. First- and final-round tee times will be off Nos. 1 and 10 tees from 7:30 to 9:18 a.m., Saturday, April 30, and Sunday, May 1. An awards ceremony will immediately follow final-round play. Spectators are welcome and admission is free of charge.

About Vicky Hurst

During her time with the AJGA, Hurst compiled seven first-place titles including a victory at the Polo Golf Junior Classic, The PING Invitational and the McDonald’s Besty Rawls Girls Championship en route to 2007 Rolex Junior Player of the Year honors. The following year, Hurst won five titles on the Duramed FUTURES Tour, earning her 2008 Player of the Year honors. Upon joining the LPGA full-time in 2009, Hurst has notched eight top-15 finishes and led the Tour in driving distance in 2009. Currently on the LPGA Tour, Hurst’s best finish came at the 2010 LPGA Hana Bank Championship Presented by SK telecom where she finished second, just two strokes behind Na Yeon Choi. Hurst has competed in three events thus far in 2011, with her best showing a tie for 18th at the Honda LPGA Thailand. At the 2011 inaugural LPGA Founder’s Cup in March, Hurst donated a portion of her earnings back to the AJGA’s ACE (Achieving Competitive Excellence) Grant Program.
