That time of year is upon us again as we get ready for the third and final big one of the year; the AEC story at Transportfest on Sunday 20th October. You will be aware of the various tasks we need to cover so if you are available and able and wish to offer your services, please let me know your preferences. It is promising to be another successful LBM event; I understand Photo © John Stiles that there are already over 20 visiting vehicles signed up to attend.

London Bus Museum celebrates bus manufacturer AEC at Transportfest 2019

Enthusiasts will enjoy Bus Tours by vintage AEC vehicles including RTs in the 80th year of service, with destinations , Ripley, Leatherhead, Hampton Station and a Thames Tour. Tours will take about 45 minutes for a small charge.

London Bus Museum will be saying goodbye to a favourite exhibit that is the only survivor of three RT buses that toured the USA and Canada in 1952 designed to promote British tourism. RT2775 will be on a five year loan to the British Commercial Vehicle Museum in Leyland, Lancashire, but will return briefly to LBM in 2022 to commemorate the 12,000 mile tour.

A party for 38 six year olds was hosted at the museum on Sunday 29th September. The party was organised by Tony & Pauline Drewitt, experienced party hosts, acting as garage cleaners “Robbie and Roberta” The guests were brought to site in Evadne RT3491, driven by Neville Kendall and conductor Ian Jackson.

A magic show & games took place on the mezzanine while a party lunch, supplied by Creative catering, was eaten in the boardroom.

The guests were given a tour of the museum, and a chance to “drive” the Optaire. A good time was reported by parents & children alike.

Thanks to John Stiles for the photos and Sharon for ensuring the boardroom was clean & clear. E-News is produced for the members of the London Bus Preservation Trust and sent to those who have supplied an email address.
