Luís Farinha holds a PhD in management. He is Adjunct Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco and Assistant Professor and researcher at the University of Beira Interior, in . His research career has focused on the links between entrepreneurship, innovation and regional com- petitiveness in national and international contexts. He is Founder and Dean of the Regional Helix – International Conference (http://helix.ipcb.pt/). Susana Barreto is a design educator and researcher. Susana is a professor in design at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Porto where she is currently engaged in two research projects, Wisdom Transfer: towards the scientific inscription of individual legacies in contexts of retirement from art and design higher education and research, and Anti-Amnesia: Design research as an agent for narrative and material regeneration and reinvention of vanishing Portuguese manufacturing cultures and techniques. Susana’s research interests are focused around the role of culture in graphic communication, cross-cultural design, image globalization, visual methods and design ethics.

María Benlloch-Osuna, PhD in Communication Sciences and Bachelor of Business Administration. Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences at Jaume I University (Spain). Active member of the Association for the Development of Communication -ADComunica- and member of the Brands Lab (Brazil). She has published the results of researches in scientific journals, both national and inter- national, she and has directed theses and researches works in the framework of intangible management, communication, and brand place. She has participated in several national research projects and in some research projects and technical assistance to companies in communication issues.

Rocío Blay-Arráez, PhD in Communication Sciences. Professor of Communication and Social Sciences Public Relations at the Jaume I University (Spain). Member Director Board at the Illustrious Official College of Advertisers and Public Relations of the Valencian Community. Partner of Dircom (National Association of Communication Directors) and AdComunica (Provincial Association for the development of Communication in Castellón). She has directed several theses on management and cor- porate communication management of the place brand, and city brand and on personal brand and also, on the image of homeopathy, all of them classified as outstanding cum laude. She is also the author of different articles and book chapters, in national and international scientific publications. She has been participating for more than ten years in some research projects and technical assistance to companies in communication issues.

Carlos Capela obtained the Mechanical Engineering degree in 1992 from the University of Coimbra. He received the PhD degree from the University of Coimbra in 2003 with one thesis about “Comportamento em serviço de peças entalhadas em compósitos acrílicos sujeitas a solicitações termomecânicas”. He is Professor at Department of Mechanical Engineering, ESTG, Polytechnic Institute of Leiria since 1997 where is currently Professor coordinator since 2012. His main areas of research are within the mechanical behaviour of materials, particularly processing of materials, fatigue and fracture of composite materials.

Cristina Caramelo Gomes gained her PhD from the University of Salford, UK, where she also conducted her postdoctorate research in Inclusive Design. This was also the topic of her public associa- tion exams at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Lisbon. Full Professor at Lusíada University of Lisbon where she teaches subjects for the undergraduate course in Architecture and Design. She is an integrated researcher at CITAD (Research Centre for Architecture) at Lusíada University and a researcher at CIAUD (Research Centre for the Territory. Architecture and Design) at the University of Lisbon. She coordinates LabCor and her research has been disseminated in international conferences and publications (articles, book chapters and one book) Her areas of research broach topics in Interaction Design, User Experience, Inclusive Design, Colour and Digital Technologies. Her research gives particular attention to intelligent objects and environments in view of the requirements for physical and digital interaction, essential to qualify the experience of the users.

Jorge Cunha is Assistant Professor at the Department of Production and Systems, Engineering School, University of Minho, Portugal, and his a researcher on ALGORITMI Research Centre, Portugal. He holds a degree in Economics (1996), a MSc in Financial Economics (1999), both from Faculty of Economics, University of Coimbra, and a PhD in Production and Systems Engineering (2005) from Uni- versity of Minho, Portugal. His recent research interests are on the social innovation process, economic impact studies, and strategic investment decisions. Currently, he is Principal Investigator of a FCT funded project “Development of a Conceptual Process Model and Metrics Framework for Social Innovation”.

Fernando Delgado is the Director of the Chair of Corporate Branding at the University of Alicante (UA, Spain) and director of the Research Group of Corporate Branding, UA_Brandscience. Also, since 2002 he has been a senior lecturer of Communication and Corporate Brands at the University of Ali- cante. He leads the research project Consumer Products Brands and Principles of the New Economy: Collaboration, Communication and Transparency. From 2008 to 2017 he was Director of the Chair of Family Business at the University of Alicante. Among his books, we can highlight Rebelión en las marcas (LID Editorial, 2012), which obtained an award by Fundación Everis, and Brand Placement: integración de marcas en la ficción audiovisual (Gedisa, 2006), the most cited work on this topic in Spanish. He regularly publishes in impact journals and is a member of scientific and editorial committees. He has been recognised for two six-year research periods by the Spanish Assessment Committee for Research Activities (CNEAI). He participates in doctorate programmes and postgraduate courses in several coun- tries and in various competitive research projects, both at national and international levels, on business, reputation and communication. He has given lectures in practically every university department, which can give us an idea of the cross-disciplinary nature of his research work. Dr Olivares Delgado is a visiting scholar in European and Latin American universities. His preferred research areas are the management of corporate intangible assets and the creation of value; corporate brands and product labels; consumer products; and family-owned businesses. He has organised numerous sessions and scientific seminars on those topics and has directed many doctoral dissertations and countless master’s and degree end projects. For several years he co-directed the Official Master course in Communication and Creative Industries (UA). Marcelo Gaspar is a Professor and the Head of the Degree in Industrial Engineering and Manage- ment at the Polytechnic of Leiria. As part of his scientific activity, he is currently an integrated member of the Center for Rapid and Sustained Product Development (CDRSP) of the same Polytechnic. He is author/co-author of several national invention patents, scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals, communications at international and national conferences. Helena Grácio graduated in Industrial Design in 2001, at Lusíada University of Lisbon, in 2005 post-graduated in Contemporary Jewelry at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon. In 2013 founded Crafts- 2Design, a cultural nonprofit association, where she developed cultural and social projects specifically linked to local communities. Currently develops research in design, she is a PhD student at the Faculty of Architecture from the University of Lisbon with a research in a design field. Cláudia Raquel Lima is Professor of Design, Typography and Drawing at Universidade Lusófona do Porto and researcher at ID + - Institute of Research in Design, Media and Culture, and is developing the “Wisdom Transfer” project funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). She has a PhD in Digital Media (University of Porto, 2015) where she researched communication practices of public libraries on the web. As a result of her research, the book “Biblioteca em Rede: Comunicação Integrada no Contexto das Culturas Participativas“ [Library Network: Integrated communication in the context of participatory cultures] was published in 2015. Her research interests include the study of com- munication practices of Portuguese public libraries on the web; strategies and methodologies of Design Thinking for the development of design projects; study of photography as a social document. On these subjects she has participated in several conferences and published several articles in scientific journals.

Daniel Martins (Ph.D. in Design) is a communication designer and professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco, works, mainly, in the Visual Corporate Identity area. Ph.D. in Design at Architecture Faculty from Lisbon Technical University, member of CIAUD - Center for Research in Architecture, Urban Planning, and Design, dedicated to a study entitled “Typography as Corporate Identity sign.” He

Nuno Martins, PhD in Digital Media (2013) from the University of Porto, having been a doctoral fellow of the UT Austin-Portugal Program of the Foundation for Science and Technology; Master in Multimedia Art (2007) and a degree in Communication Design (2003) from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto. In 2002, during his undergraduate degree, he was a fellow of the Socrates / Erasmus Program, having studied at the Willem de Kooning Academy - Hogeschool Rotterdam, in the Netherlands. Associate Professor at the School of Design (ESD) of the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave (IPCA); Director of the master’s degree in Digital Design; and Coordinator of the Disciplin- ary Area of Communication Design. Since 2008, he lectures at IPCA in the degree courses in Graphic Design and in the Master in Digital Design. ID+ Integrated Researcher (Institute for Research in Media Design and Culture), regularly attending conferences and international scientific publications in the field of Communication Design; and Founder and Chairman by DIGICOM - International Conference on De- sign & Digital Communication. Graduation in Technology and Graphic Arts (Polytechnic Institute of Tomar), Master MPhil in Design, Materials and Product Management (University of Aveiro) and PhD in Design (Faculty of Ar- chitecture, University of Lisbon). Researcher since 2008 of CIAUD - Research Centre for Architecture, Urbanism and Design (Faculty of Architecture, University of Lisbon), and currently Effective Investigator in Design area. Expert of Technical Committee 46 (Fire safety and graphic symbols), Subcommittee 4 (Safety pictograms and symbols), Working Group 1 (Safety signs) from the Portuguese Quality Institute. Member of several juries, scientific supervisor and co-supervisor of several doctoral thesis, dissertations, internships and academic projects related with communication design, wayfinding, information design, signage and signaling. Presents regularly communications and publishes in scientific journals, congress proceedings and other publications in the design field. José Vasco Matos Neves is a communication designer, and professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco, Portugal. Teresa Paiva is a professor in the field of Management and Marketing at Guarda Polytechnic Institute (IPG), Ph.D. in Management, specialization in Marketing, Consumer Behaviour area, holds a master’s degree in Business Sciences, specializing in Strategic Management and Business Development and a degree in Economics, and a post-graduation course in Direction of incubators, accelerators and entrepre- neurial development centres by the University of Salamanca, and is a certified trainer of Management and Entrepreneurship. Develops research in the area of Marketing, Innovation and Entrepreneurship where has several scientific and technical publications and develops activity in trends and product in- novation, engaging in different collaborations with other organizations. Has experience in coordinating and participating in scientific and applied research projects, co-financed by national and/or European funds. Eliana Penedos-Santiago, PhD in Drawing (2012) at San Carlos Faculty of Fine Arts, Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain. Daniel Ferreira Polónia is an Invited Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics, Manage- ment, Industrial Engineering and Tourism at University of Aveiro in Portugal. He is also a member of the same university’s Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policies (GovCoPP) Research Unit. He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Bachelor’s in Electronic Engineering. His research interests lie in the area of healthcare management and innovation.

Armando Ramalho is a professor at Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco; Head of Electrotech- nical and Industrial Engineering Department; Research field: Fatigue, Mechanical Characterization of Materials, Numerical Simulation, Finite Element Analysis.

Cátia Rijo has a PhD in Design from the Faculty of Architecture of Lisbon, master’s in graphic de- sign and a Degree in Visual Design both from IADE. In 2016 founded DESIGNLAB4U, professional laboratory that immerse the students in real pedagogical work, offering the opportunity to collaborate with real projects, with a community projection, generated in an immersive context of learning, as well as the development of cultural and social enrichment activities. She is currently Assistant Professor at Education School of Lisbon Polytechnic, where she coordinates and teaches curricular unities related to Design and she is member of the coordination team of the Visual Artes and technologies degree in the same institution. She is coordinator of the research line in Arts and Design at the Interdisciplinary Center for Educational Studies of Education School of Lisbon and research member at CIAUD. She regularly publishes national and international articles in specialized journals and frequently participates in international and national conferences. She is the chair of the Image Research Network and is a member of the scientific committee in several scientific journals and conferences. She is supervisor of master´s and doctoral thesis and is regularly invited to participate in master’s and doctoral juries.

Ricardo Gouveia Rodrigues is Auxiliary Professor at the University of Beira Interior, Portugal. He holds a Ph.D. in Business and completed the European Doctoral Programme in Entrepreneurship and Small Business in the University Autonoma de Barcelona, Spain, and Växjö University, Sweden. He is currently a researcher and deputy director of NECE-UBI – Research Centre for Business Sciences. His main research interests are Entrepreneurial Marketing, Entrepreneurship Education, and Social Marketing, but he’s also interested in studying the impact of marketing efforts on themes such as physical activity and children behaviour. He has published more than 50 papers in international journals and chapters in international books. He has participated in several national projects, namely the implementation of a pilot programme of Entrepreneurship Education in secondary schools and its impact assessment, and he has coordinated an international project on the impact of Entrepreneurship Education.

Gilberto Santos is a Professor at Polytechnic Institute Cávado Ave, Barcelos, Portugal. He holds an Aggregation (DSc) title in Industrial Engineering from de New University of Lisbon and a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from Minho University, Portugal. His current research interests include industrial and mechanical engineering, namely innovation, quality systems and Integrated Management Systems. Gilberto participated as a speaker in several national and international conferences and he is currently author of several publications in Integrated Management Systems (IMS) – QES (quality, environment and safety) (books, papers in international and national journals). He is member of the research team of several IMS – QES research projects and also supervises Master and PhD thesis, as well, reviewer of international journals. Agostinho da Silva is Industry4.0 expert and Managing Director at CEI Group (ceigroup.net), specialized in Industry4.0 factories design, with the Master degree in Mechanical Engi- neering, the Master degree in Strategy and International Investment and the PhD degree in Industry4.0 Improve with High Distinction. His main area of specialization and research is the Digital Manufacturing, Simulation and Optimization. Project Leader in several projects since 2001 which have involved more than 100 companies and 50 Academic Research Units, he has been awarded the honour of Comendador da Ordem do Mérito Empresarial, Classe do Mérito Industrial, by His Excellency The President of the Republic of Portugal. Presently is collaborating as Professor in the Department of Management and In- dustrial Engineering at the Leiria Polytechnic Institute (ipleiria.pt) and is research member at Advanced Studies in Management and Economics Center of the University of Évora (CEFAGE), research member at Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre, Polytechnic of Leiria, Portugal (MARE) and research member at Computer Science, Communication Research Centre, Polytechnic of Leiria, Portugal (CIIC).

Jose Silva has seventeen years of experience as a Professor and researcher in Visual Communication in the School of Applied Arts (ESART) - Castelo Branco Polytechnic Institute. Research and coordina- tion practice in commercial projects and educational projects. Is a full member of the Research center in Architecture Design and Urbanism of the Faculty of Architecture, University of Lisbon. Research experience in educational projects with bLearning strategies acquired in teaching practice and research projects, Master’s project (two-year master’s degree) - “Online Learning Module for learning of visual continuity - Design, development, and validation.” The Ph.D. project - “iconography musical applied as rhythmic montage score - Teaching module, Design, implementation, and test.” The Ph.D. research focused on trans-codification practices (Cl Lévi-Strauss bricolage concept), where drawing functioned as a problem-solving strategy, stimulating the reasoning through pictures, to understand what thinking emerges while drawing and how representational skills help students in problem-solving tasks. Ten years of experience, as coordinator and researcher, in the development of interfaces between academia and various institutional and commercial organizations. Experience in applying qualitative diagnostic design methodologies as product lever solutions, low-cost strategies for micro-companies, allowing new market positioning approaches at the level of the image. Sara Silva is a web designer and writer from Portugal, currently pursuing a master’s degree in Digital Design at Instituto Politécnico do Cávado e do Ave in Barcelos, Portugal.

Benny Tjahjono is Professor of Supply Chain Management and leader of the Sustainable Produc- tion and Consumption cluster at the Centre for Business in Society (CBiS), Coventry University. He has a vested interest in sustainability and environmental conservation. Over the last five years he has focused his overarching research area on Sustainable Operations and Supply Chain Management, in particular, the exploration of the Circular Economy principles in manufacturing processes. He proposes an environmentally-conscious manufacturing systems design method as an innovative way to achieve the triple bottom line objectives; ‘doing good for people, planet and profit’. He was one of the Principal Investigators of a consortium consisting of seven universities in Europe being awarded the Horizon2020 MSCA Innovative Training Network aiming to formulate the service-oriented business for the European Circular Economy. He is a member of several journal editorial boards.
