THE UNITED STATES OLYMPIC COMMITTEE ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT. MADISON HUGHES - MEN’S RUGBY The U.S. Rugby Sevens Men’s National Team had success during February as did Team Captain Madison Hughes. The Eagles traveled to the Wellington Sevens the first weekend in February and then went directly to the USA Sevens tournament as part of the HSBC Sevens World Series. Hughes scored a total of two tries and 11 conversions at the Wellington tournament. During the USA Sevens tournament, he scored three tries and six conversions and was named to the tournament’s Dream Team. This was Hughes first time being selected to a Dream Team. Hughes’ performance throughout the season has him leading the U.S team in tackles and points scored and he also is in the top ten worldwide for both categories at the halfway point of the 2014-2015 season. A native of London, England, Hughes was introduced to rugby at the age of seven. He excelled in the sport and eventually began playing for the Dartmouth rugby team upon starting college there. Sports Hub Launches Ticket Sales for Super Rugby 2018
SPORTS HUB LAUNCHES TICKET SALES FOR SUPER RUGBY 2018 Singapore, 29 March 2018 – The Singapore Sports Hub today announced that tickets for the 2018 Super Rugby match to be played in Singapore will go on sale on 1 April 2018, Sunday at 10am. The match will take place on 30 June 2018, Saturday, at the National Stadium, where Singapore’s adopted home team, HITO-Communications SUNWOLVES will play against South Africa’s BULLS. Members of the public can enjoy an early-bird discount of 15 percent for Category 1 and 2 tickets from 1 April to 31 May 2018. The match on 30 June 2018 is the only game in Singapore this year, and it will be the second time the SUNWOLVES take on the BULLS in Singapore. The last time when both teams played against each other was in 2016, when SUNWOLVES was defeated by a small margin of 27-30. “The team is excited to play in Singapore again this year. Besides familiar faces such as Edward Quirk, Harumichi Tatekawa, Shota Horie, Fumiaki Tanaka and Sam Wykes, fans can look forward to the return of Akihito Yamada, who scored a hat-trick against the Cheetahs in 2016 at the National Stadium, as well as new faces including Michael Leitch, Hosea Saumaki and Lomano Lemeki. We hope that fans can come and support us as we continue to strive towards earning our first win in our second home, ” said Jamie Joseph, SUNWOLVES Head Coach. Jamie Joseph replaces Filo Tiatia as the Head Coach this year, and doubles up as the Japan National Team Head Coach, preparing the team for the 2019 Rugby World Cup. -
