INTRODUCTION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF TELUGU:

The Department of TELUGU started functioning from 1965 in Government Degree College, Jammikunta as General TELUGU for all the Degree Courses in first and second year. The Department started with an initial strength of 200 students including B.A., B.Com, B.Sc., and B.Zc. SECOND Language.

Curricular Planning and Implementation:

The College is affiliated to Satavahana University, Karimnagar and the curriculum for the Under Graduate courses is prescribed by the Board of Studies, Department of Telugu of the University. The curriculum planning and implementation work is undertaken in a planned way. The Curriculum is being implemented according to the Almanac provided by the Affiliating University and Academic Calendar issued by the Commissioner of Collegiate Education, Hyderabad. The In-charge of the Department conducts the review meetings once in a month at their respective department to know the status of the completion of syllabus and to monitor the conduct of other co-curricular activities such as Remedial Coaching Classes, Student Seminars, Quiz Competitions, Assignments, Group Discussions, Debates and Internal Exams etc. The faculty is encouraged to leverage the modern technology to make the teaching- learning process more effective. The Department also organizes various programs related to the academics such as Field Trips, Educational Tours, and Seminars, etc.

Academic Flexibility:

Introduction of CBCS: the Govt. of telangana introduced Choice based Credit System (CBCS) in the state as per the guidelines given by the UGC in all the Universities including the Satavahana University to which is college is affiliated, from the academic year 2016-17 the department have been constantly the touch with the changes that have been brought by the satavahana university.

ACTIVITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT

Teaching learning and evaluation guiding principles and methods of teaching:

The department maintains Teaching diaries, Synopsis and prepares Annual Academic plans to have more systematic approach. The faculty of the department strictly adheres to the academic schedule as per the almanac furnished by the university.

Besides class room teaching of Telugu Literature, additional coaching and revision classes are conducted after the completion of the prescribed syllabus. These types of classes help in effective understanding of the subject and give the students an opportunity to clear their doubts on certain points in the lesson presented of discussed.

The students’ growth and achievement is evaluated through Unit Tests in each paper. These tests help in appraising the student’s learning process. In addition to these tests, Pre-Final examinations in March/April. The marks obtained by the students in the monthly tests are duly informed to their respective parents regularly.

Results are reviewed constantly and remedial classes are arranged for academically poor students, study projects and seminars are organized to the bright students.

MEETING’S OF SLOW LEARNERS:

The slow learners need special attention and hence the curriculum is modified to suit their rate of learning. Guidance and Counseling is offered to these students and if necessary the concerned parents are consulted.

The department conducts remedial classes for slow learners. They attend these classes to keep pace with the advanced learners.

Telugu Department organizes Extension Lectures by inviting eminent academicians from other colleges, and from the university. The staff of the department actively participates in many activities organized by the college. They extend their cooperation to MANA TV, NSS organizers by delivering extension lectures to the NSS students relating to environment, Health and Hygiene etc., during NSS camps.
