The Game The object of the game is to throw the ball into the opponent’s goal. Players on the defensive team may attempt to inhibit the progress of players on the offensive team but no one is allowed to: - Push or hold onto the inner tube of players on the opposing team with any part of your body - Tip over a player with or without the ball - Kick or strike an opponent or their inner tube - Pin a tube against the wall - Repeatedly waste time - Intentionally splash a player - Block the opponent’s vision with their hands (face guard)

Players are also not allowed to: - Pull themselves along the pool using the wall (pushing off is allowed) - Hold the ball under the water - Hold onto the goal or net

Any of these infractions will result in a “free throw” for the opponent at the location of the foul.

Starting Play The game will begin with a coin flip. The winner will have the choice to receive the ball at their goalie position to start either the first or second half. The other team will start with the ball at their goalie position the other half. Teams must be lined up in their defensive end of the pool to start the game. Teams will exchange goals at the end of the half.

A ball thrown out of bounds will be given to a player of the opposite team at the approximate point where it went out of bounds. EXCEPTION: When a ball is deflected by a goalie and then goes out of bounds, the ball is returned to the goalie.
