The official event was held online on March 2, 2021. The event was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Tomislav Donchev and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism Mrs. Mariana Nikolova. "In these difficult times caused by the COVID pandemic, there must be a ray of hope for a better future and, despite the challenges, to come out more united than ever. Investments are one of the first conditions and criteria for economic growth and development in the country. We are aware of how important it is for reliable and stable investors to prefer our country for their business, to stay, but also to be an example of good practices for creating new jobs, for showing social responsibility, professional experience and high values. Thank you for choosing Bulgaria for your investment. " With these words the Executive Director of the Bulgarian Investment Agency Desislava Trifonova welcomed the participants and opened the official ceremony. Over 60 applications were received from companies in all areas of the economy, automotive, information technology and healthcare, sent by district administrations, municipalities and others. As every year so far, the selection was entrusted to a competent jury, which managed to select the winners from among the nominated companies that implemented investment projects in 2020. AWARDS I. Statuette "Golden Bull", made by the sculptor Seyfetin Shekerov, and Diploma. Mr. Tomislav Donchev, Deputy Prime Minister, presented the Grand Prize for Investor of the Year 2020 to Mr. Petar Stoilov, Executive Director of Nestle Bulgaria AD. The company produces products for over 35 markets worldwide, has invested BGN 23 million in a new robotic packaging production line to digitize the production process and to expand the portfolio of manufactured products, meeting consumer preferences for a balanced diet. The investment will ensure the competitiveness of the products worldwide. With this investment, the company successfully continues its path to automation and digitalization of production, which allows remote control of the processes. The company has been on the Bulgarian market since 1994. This year, for the first time, an award for "Sustainable Investment Development" was presented, which was won by Şişecam Industrial Group, which made its first investments in Bulgaria in 1997. Over the years, they opened a number of productions in our country for flat, household and automotive glass. The Group operates through its plants Trakia Glass Bulgaria EAD, Şişecam Automotive Bulgaria EAD and Pashabahce Bulgaria EAD. The total investment made in the country reaches 800 million dollars. Mrs. Mariana Nikolova, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, presented the award to the Chief Executive Officer of Shishedjam Industrial Group, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kerman. The winner in the category "Green Investment" is "Samel 90" AD - the company has invested BGN 5 million and will create 250 jobs with the construction of a complex located at the foot of Rila, at 960 m above the sea level, on the outskirts of Samokov town and near the river Iskar, 10 km away from the ski resort Borovets. The project creates modern conditions for sports and recreation, combined with the modern idea of a comfortable living environment. The main idea of the investor is to unite areas and buildings with different functions into a single whole, without compromising the sense of living in a park environment. Mr. Stamen Yanev, Deputy Minister of Economy, announced the winner - Eng. Petar Georgiev - Executive Director of Samelion AD and Samel 90 AD. The award in the category "Investment in business expansion" was won by M + S HYDRAULIC AD. The company annually invests from 7 to 10% of its turnover in machinery and equipment, and for the last 10 years the value of the investments is over BGN 89 million. During the controversial for the whole humanity 2020 year, the company expanded in the town of Kazanlak, completing and putting into operation a new production building on two floors, built a Training and Research Center and purchased machinery and equipment, with a total investment of BGN 21 million and created 150 jobs. Mr. Stamen Yanev announced that the award was won by Mr. Marin Marinov, Director of Finance and Administration. The winner in the category "Investment in human capital" is MD Electronic EOOD. The company has hired 200 employees and will hire another 250 in 2021. Ms. Yana Topalova, Deputy Minister of Economy, announced that the award will be given to Ms. Miroslava Milanova - Director of Human Resources, MD Electronic EOOD. In the category "Investment in innovative business" the Golden Bull was won by the company "Robert Bosch" EOOD. The company has invested in innovations, has built an Engineering Center in Sofia. It is the world's leading provider of technology and services and aims to become a leading global IT and software provider for automakers. The center in Sofia works closely with development teams in Germany, the United States, Hungary and Romania. The team of highly qualified professionals is involved in the development of over 40 innovative projects and technologies for the automotive industry in areas such as driver assistance systems, automated driving, artificial intelligence and electric mobility. The mission of the investor's team is to ensure safe driving with care for the environment and society. Ms. Yana Topalova, Deputy Minister of Economy, announced the winner - Mr. Konstantin Konov, Managing Director of Bosch Engineering Center Sofia. II. The following companies and municipalities received crystal plaques of the InvestBulgaria Agency: The first crystal plaque is for "Successful Startup" in 2020. The winner is the Association "Children with Oncohematological Diseases", which is the first and only Rehabilitation Center for children with oncohematological diseases in Bulgaria and the Balkans and one of the few such centers in the world. It is located in the village of Opitsvet, Kostinbrod municipality, and it has seven detached houses, an administrative building with halls for dining and entertainment, a swimming pool and a place for solitude. The investment is worth BGN 3.7 million with over 20 jobs. Mrs. Yana Topalova, Deputy Minister of Economy, announced that the award was given to Mr. Plamen Belchev, manager of the branch of the association. The next prize is for the category "Municipality with the most investments". The winner is the Municipality of Varna, as its award was given for over BGN 90 million invested in educational infrastructure in 2020, as the increase compared to 2019 is BGN 10 million, despite the crisis, as well as for the work and activities on construction of a new Industrial Zone - a key project for the industrial and high-tech future of the region. Mr. Stamen Yanev, Deputy Minister of Economy, announced the winner - Mr. Ivan Portnih, Mayor of Varna. In the category of Municipality "Best Partner for 2020" the winner is the Municipality of Burgas. In 2020 IBA met exceptional support in working with the municipality in the process of attracting new investors in the region. This has led to a large number of applications for certification of investment projects. As of January 2021 alone, three projects worth a total of BGN 40 million have been certified, with 380 new jobs announced. Using the principles of the circular economy and zero-waste production, the company produces innovative, high-quality and sustainable insect products used in the feed and agricultural industries. The company breeds the Black Soldier fly for the conversion of plant waste into biomass, which is then transformed into an alternative protein used for animal and fish feed. The products that the company currently produces are insect proteins and fats for inclusion in animal feed, as well as organic fertilizer for agricultural use. Ms. Yana Topalova, Deputy Minister of Economy, announced the winner - Ms. Yana Balnikova, Program Director at Nasekomo AD. Ms. Venelina Gocheva, publisher of the newspaper "24 Chasa" announced that "Dundee Precious Metals" wins the traditional award of the newspaper for "Social Investment". The prize was awarded to Mr. Iliya Garkov, Vice President of Dundee Precious Metals. Тя се формира през средноеоценско-кватернерните постколизионни екстензионни процеси, като преработва по-ранните колизионни структури. В рифтовата система е отложен бартон-кватернерен комплекс, в който се обособяват бартонско-приа- бонска, приабонско-долноолигоценска, горноолигоценско-средномиоценска, горномиоценско-плиоценска и кватернерна групa, които се отделят c дискордантни или дисконформни граници. В тези групи се различават поредици от литостратиграфски свити или задруги. Отделните единици са съставени от теригенни континентални, по-малко морски наслаги, с ограничено участие на карбонатни, органични и вулкански материали, както и с въглищни пластове. Въз основа на геоложките и геофизичните проучвания и интерпретацията на сателитни стереоизображения се установява сложна разломна мрежа, определяща структурата на Горнотракийската рифтова система. Обособени са разломи с ИЮИ, ССЗ, ССИ и ИСИ, рядко с меридионални или екваториални направления. Изток-югоизточните структури са определящи и надлъжни спрямо Балканидните, а ССЗ и ССИ са диагонални.     CATRO BULGARIA | 2018 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The current study presents an analysis of the current and future economic and labour market trends in Bulgaria in order to outline the potential opportunities for more eective and sustainable employment of refugees in the country. The research has been implemented in two phases – desk research of the most relevant reports, strategies, statisti- cal data and research papers about the socio-economic, demographic and labour market situation, as well as an overview of the current demographic, educational and employment development trends of the asylum seekers and beneficiaries of international protection in Bulgaria. The second phase focused on collecting and analysing qualitative information by relevant stakeholders such as governmental institutions, employers’ associations, trade unions, economic and labour market research institutes on the one hand, and a sample of medium-sized and large companies on the other hand, which represent some of the fastest developing economic sectors and cover 5 out of 6 geographic regions and economic hubs in Bulgaria. The main highlights of the analysis focus on the overall skills shortage and skills mismatch on the Bulgarian labour market across all economic sectors and geographic regions which already imply an obstacle for the further growth of the business in Bulgaria and might prevent some future investments. Against this background, potential opportuni- ties for refugee employment have been elaborated, and concrete measures and recom- mendations have been proposed aiming to support both refugees and employers in their eorts for sustainable employment which is beneficial for the further growth of the business and for the successful integration of beneficiaries of international protection in Bulgaria.

If we measure it from the nose to the back of its human looking head, we'll be able to fix a standard length of about 104 mm. Twice this span, 208 mm equals the height of the masterpiece. Hristo Smolenov Zagora - Varna the Hidden Superculture Knowledge Encoded in Art 3000 Years before the Pyramids Institute of Metal Science, Equipment and Technology "Acad. Angel Balevski" This grain container from the region of Stara Zagora (Late Neolithic, 6-th millennium BC) had practical, as well as sacred functions, important for the survival of the community. The future harvest depended on how well grain-seeds would be preserved in the container. No wonder that its measures comply with certain "sacred" standards in use by a mysterious superculture which used to flower on the Balkan peninsula. Proofs of its existence are the magnificent Zagora pottery and the amount of copper produced in the same region. So is the world's oldest gold treasure, found in Varna in 1972. The diameter of the grain container's opening, for instance, equals twice the length of a gold standard plate from Varna Necroplis, (Chalcolithic, middle of the 5-th millennium BC). Is this a kind of paradox, or an evidence of the continuity binding Zagora and Varna in one and the same superculture? Gold and clayware masterpieces unearthed from these two regions of Bulgaria reveal primeval knowledge of unbelievable depth and elegance.

    Crusaders Against the Cross The Fourth Crusade Depicted in Orthodox-Slavonic Written Sources and Archaeological Evidence by Angel Dimitrov Trendafilov A thesis submitted in fulfilment of the requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in History at the University of Canterbury, 2018 Abstract The Fourth Crusade was a unique event that stood out among all other Crusades. It was conceived as a victorious return of the warriors of Christ on a mission to recapture Jerusalem from the Muslim infidels, thus providing a much-needed lifeline to the overseas Christian kingdoms. But the Fourth Crusade actually ended with the fall of Constantinople, the capital of the largest Christian empire of the time, and the birth of the Latin Empire from the millennium-old ruins of Orthodox Byzantium. The consequences of the Fourth Crusade for the peoples of the Orthodox world have not been thorougly studied and there is a significant gap in the use of important written sources and archaeological data regarding the Fourth Crusade. This thesis makes use of Orthodox- Slavonic texts published only recently to explore the attitude of Orthodox nations towards the Crusade and the changes that had occurred in spiritual and everyday life after the fall of Constantinople. The thesis also analyses Latin written sources that inform our understanding of the diplomatic and religious infighting between the Latin Empire, Bulgaria, and the three Greek statelets that succeeded the Byzantine Empire. It includes the first English translation of some texts and traces the crusade’s impact on the daily life of the Orthodox nations using evidence obtained through little-known and unpublished archaeological data from dozens of settlements and fortresses in what is now southern Bulgaria, then part of the erstwhile Latin Empire.
