FOR FEDERATION INFORMATION INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF AMERICAN FOOTBALL 2016 CONGRESS On 17th September the World Congress of IFAF (International Federation of American Football) was held in Paris (France) The Congress adopted a new set of statutes with a new structure unanimously. Part of that structural changes is that all committees and bodies under the former statutes – besides the Ethic Committee – are null and void and that the formation of continental association is possible again. In result of that decision the 23 national federations from Europe present at Paris representing more than half of all IFAF member federations in Europe consequently formed the “International American Football Federation Continental Association Europe” in short “IFAF Europe”. We will inform you about those appointments later. Before the Congress Chairman of the IFAF European Continental Committee Goran Nisavic and Vice-Chairman Dr. Gregor Murth sent a letter on IFAF Europe letterhead in which they declared their resignation in case of the above mentioned decision would been taken. We, as the remaining members of the IFAF European Continental Committee had not been consulted before that letter was sent and later on published. And furthermore we do not agree with the content. If the majority of the European Members want to form a continental association that is nothing bad nor is it something to condemn. Moreover the consent of most national federations in Europe is that the dissolution of the European Federation of American Football (EFAF) was a sin against our movement and only created turmoil in Europe. By publishing that letter – only representing the minority and private opinion of the senders - they also harmed our sport and our reputation as a whole. Therefore we formally disavow us from this letter and declare that is does not reflect the point of view of the IFAF European Continental Committee. However, the two senders having already declared their resignation they took the consequences of their action. Under the new structure of IFAF there will be no IFAF European Continental Committee anymore. But as in the current state of the discussion we highly expect some IFAF national member’s federation will not join the new IFAF European Continental Association immediately the remaining members of the dismissed IFAF European INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF AMERICAN FOOTBALL 79, rue Rateau – 93120 La Courneuve – FRANCE Phone : + 33 (0) 1 43 11 14 70 – Fax : + 33 (0) 1 43 11 14 71 – E-mail : [email protected] Continental Committee will act in the near future by using the legitimacy which derives from the old statutes as well as the new statues in combination of the statutes of the new founded continental association. Therefore the remaining seven members of the IFAF European Continental Committee which are Mr. Enrique Garcia de Castro, Mr. Sahin Komercu, Mr. Lesley Moreels, Mr. Romeo Tjoe-A-On, Mr. Thomas Ahlberg, Mr. Jedrzej Steszewski and Mr. Gary Marshall decided by unanimous decision to appoint Mr. Enrique Garcia De Castro as interim Chairman and Mr. Sahin Komercu as interim Vice-Chairman of the IFAF European Continental Committee both continuing as ordinary members of the committee itself. The task of the Treasurer/ Financial Director will remain vacant for the near future. With this solution we want to smooth the transfer in the new structure and also uphold the daily business. At the end, we thank Mr. Goran Nisavic and Dr. Gregor Murth for their service for American Football in Europe.
